View Full Version : Just what can Dr. Strange do to the Hulk?

Throughout World War Hulk so far, Dr. Strange has twice denied to kill the Hulk and to banish the Hulk.
He has also tried to regain contact with Bruce Banner within the Hulk mind in hopes that he could help defeat and redeem the Hulk at the same time, but he fails thanks to the Warbound member Hiroim warning the Hulk of Strange's presence.
So what else can he do, without killing him, to defeat the Hulk ?
Do you all have any suggestions ? :(

Without killing the Hulk, Strange could just dump him off somewhere. But he already said he wouldn't do that, and seems to regret having ever agreed to send the Hulk away. I think he'll just turn himself over.

That's what I've been saying for awhile now. Doesn't hurt that Strange has basically said he'll turn himself over if it comes to that.

Transmutation is probably the best bet for taking out the Hulk in a non-fatal capacity.

Pretty much anything but Strange doing something nasty would have greater implications as people like Dormammu, Nightmare, Mephisto and others would see it as an opportunity and sign of Strange's weaking moral resolve, giving them the motivation to try corrupt and depose the Sorcerer Supreme. However Hulk has shown some resistance to magic and supernatural physical attacks, so in his current state that resistance is even stronger as shown by Dr Strange having to try "sniper" Hulk when he showed some humanity and reached out to Rick Jones. However as soon as Hulk realised what was happening, Strange got shut down. It's questionable exactly what can hurt Hulk right now since he's in overdrive.

Theoretically anything he wants to do as the Sorcerer Supreme of the Universe. In an ideal world, he would have the same power as the "doctor" from The Authority. Magic is a powerful thing.
In large part, that depends on what the writers feel Strange is capable of doing. In THEORY, Strange can do just about anything. He could in THEORY do everything from turning Hulk into a bunny to freezing him in time. But limits to Strange's powers always appear when they are necessary for the story (and now is probably such an occasion).
Until the WWH writers better define exactly what the limits of Stranges options are (beyond not sending him away or killing him), we're pretty much left with taking blind stabs in the dark.
I'm assuming his current plan somehow involves contacting Banner, but I'm not sure.

Probably many things that would hurt Hulk or turn him into a vegitable or so on and so forth, but he wont. They are not in his nature, or are not written to be.

The answer is in fact: Rend him into sixty four thousand pieces and then transfigure that into a lovely floral arrangement for General Ross's garden.
But I assume you mean what WILL he do, not what CAN he do.

He could do to him what he always did to the hulk to get him to calm down encase him in the that ball made of the crimson band's of cyttorak. It worked most of the time as hulk has never been able to break out just using pure physical strenght.
He has been able to break out by leaping in the air and crashing down the strain was to much for strange to maintain the spell.

Uh-oh, remember what Pak said about Hiroim the shamed and how he has all the power of the Oldstrong ? :(
Well, I think we just found out how Hulk is going to break out of the ball barrier. :(

Granted we dont know much about the oldstrong's power but dont you think it may be overstating it to compare it to the crimson band's of cyttorak.

I got to respect Marvel's handing of Dr. Strange because as Sorcerer Supreme, Strange is showing the how hefty the responsibility is. He's taking the moral high ground and not taking short-cuts...I think he's tryiing to reach out to Banner to stop the Hulk.
I wished he acted sooner in CW but then then, there wouldn't be much of a story to tell! XD

A reasonable idea, knowing the Hulk would be back eventually anyway. Thor got rid of Juggernaut once by dumping him to an uninhabited place. That didn't last very long.
Strange also got rid of Hulk once by dumping him, permanently, to the Crossroads. Absent a kill, the Hulk would be back.
Granted we dont know much about the oldstrong's power
True, although Ciara did seem to give the Hulk her best Dragonball Z-style powered up punch, which, though damaging, didn't kill the Hulk.
Personally, I wanna see the Hulk break free of the bands. Just because Hulk freed himself by disrupting Strange doesn't mean it wouldn't happen eventually. Hulk burst free of The Leader's special energy-absorbing material, which was supposed to be impossible, too.

The Leader is not as smart as he thinks. Look how many times he was defeated by the childish brute version of the Hulk in the silver age.

Dump Hulk in the Dark Dimension.
Think even the Hulk will survive in a dimension full of Mindless Ones?

I foresee Strange taking on Amadeus Cho as a new apprentice, finally merging magic with mathematics. His equations really do seem like magic to me, and I can see him becoming a formidable sorcerer, and probably willing to take risks against the Hulk that Strange might not. And I think the kid's going to become pretty disillusioned soon.

1. Leave the Hulk's body vulnerable while he deals with the Hulk's astral-self of the Hulk on the Astral Plane
2. Yanks out Bruce Banner onto the Astral Plane and sends him into the Asgardian Destroyer armor.
3. Crimson Bands of Cytorrak. Once upon a time he was actually able to hold Galactus within them for a short time before Galactus broke free.
4. Eye of Agamotto is pretty good against skyfather/demon-lord level entities
5. Generate illusions to distract and misguide the Hulk (maybe one time, but Hulk has unique psychic abilities to see ghosts and what not)
6. pull an intangibility style-spell using his Cloak of levitation similar to how Cloak can pull people into his darkness (it worked against the sorceress Salome)
7. Magic blasts felt in the mind and soul, not the body

If Hulk kills Strange, doesn't that make Doom among the leading contenders to be new Sorceror Supreme?
NOW we see why he hasn't intervened to stop Hulk!

Yeah, it would be cool if Marvel could explore the route that the villains will take in the aftermath of WWH. For example, strike them (the heroes) when they're down or something.

He began to regret his actions the moment the Hulk was sent to space.

However almost all of those tricks could be prove useless against Hiroim if his is aiding the Hulk in this battle against Strange. :(
