Batman#666 looks intriguing - not enough in that preview to give an idea about it somehow though. ASBAR looks really good though - it's really gathering pace now and I hope Miller is able to bring all these different characters togther and make something great out of it. As I think I've said before once you get used to the idea of what Miller's doing (and how it differs from what the All-Star line is meant to be) the story becomes really enjoyable in its own way. I think I enjoy the bits where Batman actually isn't in it oddly (the Gordon house bits were ace)

also:

"I've got another problem with the goddamn Batman". Excellent!

Liked the DKR poster in Barbara's room, as well as the copy of Watchmen too. Nice touches. (haha - GEN13, Sin City and Ronin too on a 2nd look).

And I know everyone always says this, but Jim Lee's art there is superb. It looks so much better on my computer monitor than it does on paper too.

Yeah, I noticed that too. A nice touch indeed.

No denying it. Very, very nice.

Good Lord, can we PLEASE have a moratorium on quoting Yeats's "The Second Coming"? I swear that I've seen it in at least three other comics, at least one of which was written by Morrison... I'm going to be wracking my brain for the next week or so trying to remember which one, now.

Re: Batman  #666:

Ermmm...ok, so Batman and Talia did it(and thank god they show him without the cowl this time) and she got pregnant, right? So how the hell did the kid wind up in an artificial womb?? This seems interesting--I haven't been picking up Morrison's Batman, and now I can see that I have been missing something.

All Star Batman...

No, thanx. Seriously, I don't want anything to do with this book.

All-Star Batman (spoilers):
Great, its finally here... well, almost. But this 9 page preview is a real refreshment! But does anyone else thinks that the story "jumped" a little, like, they skipped some part of the story? In the last issue Alfred was "practicing", Robin was looking around in the Batcave, and Batman was wandering in the city looking for some action... all of a sudden, Black Canary which was gone for the past 3 issues is riding a Harley (ok, that is acceptable), but Gordon's daughter has a bat suit... from where dammit? It looks like a rushed introduction of too many characters that need to be connected in some story plot by the issue #10. And still no Robin or JLA development... good thing we can expect the next one in just 1-2 months :) And also, drawings KICK ASS, and i'm pretty sure that the story will turn out well!

I have to say the Art on All-Star Batman was worth the wait. :D

However it could have been finish on time, if Jimmy Lee just do lesser projects.

Well, we don't know what's going to happen in the remainder of the pages though do we?

And since this is a seperate take on the whole Batman mythos there's no reason why Miller can't just write Barbara Gordon as Batgirl straight away.

Plus, contrary to what you say, Batman in this preview is following straight on from what we saw him do in the last issue; he even states as much in his monologue.

Every issue of ASBAR (barring the issues where Robin was in the flying Batmobile) have 'jumped' somewhat, since Miller has been introducing a lot of well-known characters in new environments in each issue. If this was a regular monthly comic up to its 6th issue I doubt you'd even acknowledge this but since it's been slowly going on for 2 years now it does seem a bit choppy. If you read all 6 issues in order now I doubt it'd be a big deal.

I checked Amazon and they said that Morrison's arc is being collected and released by August 8th and that it includes #666. Can anyone confirm this?

I haven't seen an update on this, but I'd be surprised if it ships on time.

I can't wait for both books to come out this week. I think Batman #666 will be good, Grant Morrison is always good at making futuristic armageddon's for his monthly title. His last New X-Men arc where Sublime took control of Beast is awesome. I got it in trade as a present. Glad that was given to me.

As for ASBR, it looks really sweet and as a poster said earlier, it does seem that Frank Miller has found that itch to the book. The more I read it, the more I want to see of the "God-damn" Batman! It's an interesting take on the heroes coming out of a Year One type ordeal. I can't wait to read more JLA interaction.

Both looked cool and interesting.
Jim Lee is just FANTASTIC, and Kubert's Damian/Batman looked great.
I've been sort of dissapointed with Morrison's run (expected more), but this story has got me intrigued.
As for All-Star, well, I love it. I've never taken it too seriously, and I think that's part of the reason I've liked it so much.
Now if it could just get out on time, will have something.
And I loved the references to DKR, Wachtmen and others. VERY cool.

I was so impressed with the ASB&RTBW preview that I might even pick up #5 & 6, having dropped the book a few years ago after #4 came out. ;)

I think I'll pass on this one...though the artwork is great, I can't get into another 'future batman' that ain't bruce. This seems like another amalgram 'future destiny' bit, a combo rehash of Batman Beyond and Return of the Dark Knight. Dang, couldn't they throw him in the Lazarus Pit or something? I'd read it if Bruce and Daimen were fighting side by side. In any case...

NEXT!!!
