The G4 channel could have a serious gem on their hands. This is literally an 8-bit cartoon comedy centering around two game programmers named Dave and Jerry who are accompanied by a very quirky supporting cast, such as psychotic redneck manager Mr. Larrity. It's charm also lies in it's nostalgia in that the series takes place during the crucible age of videogames (think Atari 2000). After having seen the first two episodes, I'm already drawn in to this simple insane world. I'd recommend this to anyone who loves a good laugh.

I've seen most of the show so far. It's pretty funny, but I wouldn't call it a "gem". Code Monkeys has its flaws, like the over-reliance on stereotype jokes with Black Steve ("Ooh, look at how gangsta this guy is!"), Clarence ("Ooh, look at how gay this guy is!"), Claire ("Ooh, look at what a slut this woman is!") and Mary ("Oh, poor Mary doesn't get any respect because nearly all the men in her life are assholes").

I like the pixel-based animation design, but now that I think about it, I wonder if they're just using it as a crutch to prop up warped video-game-style takes on old sitcom plots and dead baby comedy.

I honestly dont understand the love a (seemingly) lot of people have for this show. The whole 8 bit thing is novel and fun, but if it was just another animated show, I'm thinking people would find the script much less interesting. Its lame, and worse, its a little boring. Its all bad 80's cliche humor. Gay and black jokes, poop and fart jokes. Gets tired.

That's exactly how I feel.

It's like they took jokes off the bathroom wall from my middle school and put them on the show.

As for the 8 bit graphics, I think it's kinda cool. Wish it was 16 bit but the animation is the only reason why this show is on my radar.

I think G4 should stick to it's real gems like X-Play, and AOTS.

I'm not sure why Star Trek is on there or Cheaters, or Cops. I'm not even sure why they even bothered doing that 2.0 stuff either. Ninja Warrior is kinda cool though.

On topic, I'm underwhelmed and unimpressed by the show. I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't make it to a 2nd season.

I'm happy for the other people who are enjoying themselves though.:)
