Farscape: The Parenthood Chronicles.

Yeah. Great. Web-based shorts.
That's wonderful for all the cable internet T-1 connected fans. For those of us who have a 24.6 connection on a dialup, it's just a big 'eff you' until they decide to make money off it by putting it on DVD and make those people pay for what others got to see for free.
Screw you, Sci-Fi Channel. If you can't put your shows on tv, don't waste my time.

You would think that as badly as the ratings are on most of their progamming that these guys would be smart enough to bring back one of their highest rating shows to tv...Morons:rolleyes: .

Especially since you probably have those who dont even own a computer that are fans of Farscape.

Can Sci-fi take a gamble and actually afford the show, though? It's not like it doesn't have special effects, a talented cast to pay for, huge impressive sets (to be totally rebuilt) and TONS of crew working everything beyond a normal show like all of the puppets.
And guys. Come on. It's 2007. If you can't keep up with the current mediums, such as the internet for showing content, you have nobody to blame but yourselves. When the television first came out, if people wanted to watch the Honeymooners, they went out and got a television or else sucked it up and went outside or something.
Heck, what about those that DON'T get the sci-fi channel, due to geographic location or other reasons? They're just as screwed, correct? Pretty hypocritical of some people. I'm just saying.
Moving forward and expanding on what technologies have to offer is one thing that makes living in this time so great and interesting! If this works and and works well enough to warrant bringing the show back as a series, as a way of testing the waters, then why the complaints?
Oh. Right. It's what "fans" do these days.

I live in a rural area where DSL isn't available . Is it really reasonable that I should sell my house and move so I can watch Farscape shorts on the web ? Because short of moving that 's the only realistic way I'm going to be able to watch those shorts on the net.

If this does well, maybe it'll lead to more tv/dvd movies or a spinoff. Some kind of Farscape is better than none.

Webisodes... that must be a strange, new meaning of the concept of "coming back" that I had been previously unaware of.
I'd rather no Farscape than mini-sketchy-constantly "buffering" Farscape.

I live in Canada, and didn't get the Sci-fi channel when it aired Farscape. Was it reasonable for me to move to another country to view it? No, there are other options. I could have waited for when they finally went into syndication, or for when the Space channel finally started to air them, or I could have "aquired" them on the internet... I chose to by the DVD's and loved them, no big loss for being in the wrong area I personally think.
Besides, satellite internet doesn't have any boundaries... ;)

I'm optimistic that this might lead to some bigger and better stuff as well!

"Optimism: a belief that events will turn out for the best. Irrational, bordering on insane. " --K9, Doctor Who, "The Stones of Blood."
I will never assume the best from Sci-Fi... like John Crichton, I've been burned too many times.

Not everyone lives in areas where all the amenities are available, and you're being naive at best to presume otherwise.

Oh yes, "tons" of crew. Funny, for all the crew they use for the puppeteering, they use three times as many people on BATTLESTAR GALACTICA for computer CGI work, and I don't hear anyone complaining about the expense of that series. And that show has a far more expensive cast by name reputation, more cast members total, and more CGI effects than FARSCAPE ever did.
Oh, BG is more successful? Yeah, I suppose it might be seeing as 1) It's a rehashing of an old series with an established fanbase, and 2) It was aired on Sci-Fi, USA Network *AND* NBC in the States within three weeks of the pilot's release for the new series. If you actually put the damn show out where people know it exists, they might, y'know, watch it.
FARSCAPE on Sci-Fi was shown late at night, moved around the weekly schedule repeatedly so you never knew when the show was airing, skipped weeks at a time for "specials", shown out of story order... every damn thing you could think of to get the show killed, and they still couldn't manage it until finally Sci-Fi just said 'screw you' and stopped ordering episodes.
It's a wonder the series has a fanbase at all, the way they were mistreated.

Meh
I love Farscape. At times its my favorite show of all time (my top 3 tend to rotate depending on what I've been watching recently).
But webisodes with no casting announcements. Meh freaking meh. If it doesn't have Ben Browder as John Crichton and Claudia Black as Aeryn Sun then its not Farscape. And webisodes . . . meh meh meh meh meh meh infinity meh.
However, should Ben and Claudia sign on then you can change all those meh's to Whoo hoo's.
And just in case, an avatar change is in order.

Wow, people will take offense to just about anything anymore.
You do understand that not catering their programing schedules/business plans to your own personal tastes/wants/needs/resources in no way or shape constitutes an 'eff you' and to think otherwise makes you come across as silly and self-important don't you?
I ask because it doesn't seem that you do and if that's the case I think maybe someone should let you know.

As for Farscape returning, if they can recapture that sense of smart fun adventure that the orginal series had then I think that web-isodes are better than no-isodes, even if I might have to go to a friend's house to watch them.

It's funny you mention the erratic scheudling, BR, because I discovered Farscape one Sunday morning during one of Sci-Fi's "Chain Reactions". They played the last four episodes of season 1. Which was nice because the following Friday season 2 premiered. I was hooked. And I never would have known about this amazing show if it wasn't for a Sunday morning block of episodes.
I do agree Sci-Fi never promoted the show to the best of their abilites.even though it was a critical darling (Matt Rousch at TV guide still references the show a few times a month in his columns and "Ask Matt" section). Didn't Farscape start before the whole Universal/Vivendi fiasco. It's been so long since it was cancelled my ire's died down toward them and I can't remember all the facts.
To this day I still miss the Friday night lineup of I-Man/Farscape/LEXX. That was a good three hours of programming.

Sorta similar to how I got hooked.
I'd heard of the show and gave it a try one night. I'm not sure what episode it was but Scorpius and Harvey were featured extensively. I was thouroughly confused about the whole Scorpius / Harvey / John thing and I just felt it was too much to try to catch up on so I didn't try again.
Then a few years back in the weeks running up to the Peacekeeper Wars mini series Sci Fi started running Farscape marathons. I got really sick and stayed in bed for a day straight but couldn't sleep and ended up watching a whole lot of season IV and was instantly hooked. Without that marathon and a convenient illness I'd probably have never watched the miniseries or have collected all the seasons on DVD.

Even with no casting news, I'm still pretty darned excited about this announcement! Webisodes are much, much better than nothing.
I'm a late comer to the series as well. Got hooked by the trailer for The Peacekeeper Wars and started watching the series from Season 1 shortly thereafter.
