So I have been catchign up on Entoruage and I always knew it was loosely based on Mark Wahlberg's career. So I have been trying to piece together the parts of Wahlberg's career that match what Vinnie Chase on the show is doing.
I would guess that Queen's Boulevard equals Basketball Diaries and then Aquaman must match Perfect Storm? James Cameron directing Aquaman equals Wolfgang Petersen on Perfect Storm?
Does anyone know the real stories that the show is based on? Is his best childhood friend really his manager?

I don't know about the Aquaman/Perfect Storm issue, but I saw him on a talk show and he said that he had a 'Turtle' in his life, but he'd passed away not too long ago.

Mark Wahlberg has said that the show has developed into its own entity, and no longer depends as much on his experiences.
I think Kevin Dillon is drawing from his own experience as an also-ran actor always in the shadow of his better known brother.

I think at the moment, he's doing a very good job of overshadowing Matt.

Right now Donny is overshadowing Mark, too.

Not really. Not to discount Donny, but at least Mark's still headlining major motion pictures. Donnie's last real chance to catch up to Marky Mark was most likely Boomtown, a show I very much enjoyed and had received a pretty good deal of critical acclaim. NBC just never gave it the chance it deserved.

In Hollywood, movie stars are a bigger deal than tv stars, so while Donnie and Kevin have more exposure, Mark and Matt are still bigger deals.

I think Donny has another show coming soon but I can't remember what it's called. And I think for Mark it's more Aquaman equals Planet of the Apes.

Sorry to drag up an old post but reading the Spider-Man 4 post I suddenly thought of something. Aquaman is supposed to parallel Spider-Man. Some of the situations are reversed or tossed around, but a lot of it fits.
James Cameron's name was one of the first attached to a Spider-Man movie. According to Wikipedia Sam Raimi confirmed that there was something going on between Maguire and Dunst on the set of the first Spider-Man, inspiring the Vince/Mandy Moore situation. When Vince wouldn't do the sequel, Jake Gyllenhaal's name popped up just like it did for Spider-Man 2 when Tobey Maguire couldn't make it for filming.
I guess this isn't really news, but I just felt like posting.

They were secretly dating for a few months. I don't remember if it was to wards the end of filming or right after filming was done.
