I thought Dc was going to try to revive the series again over the summer, but it seems to be dead in the water. Does anyone have any info on this?

I don't think it's dead. Probably just waiting for the creators to work it into their schedule again.

There was an interview here at CBR some weeks ago with Marc Andreyko. I believe he said they're gonna announce the artist (someone of note, apparantly) this summer. Comic-Con, perhaps?

Does anyone have any information on the status of the Manhunter relaunch or issue #31. Will it be sometime by the end of the year or perhaps hopefully earlier ?

I think Marc Andreyko should be put on Birds of Prey and work on her from there. He's a good writer and should be given that title and another high-profile single super-hero series such as Superman or The Flash.

I totally suspect that they cancelled it while not really cancelling it. I won't believe it's back until I see the solicit for the next issue. No one heard anything about it at any of the cons?

Yes, it was mentioned in the con reports and it is still in the works. I think they're waiting for Marc to work it into his schedule.

Marc Andreyko would be a great writer for BoP if Gail Simone is really leaving the book .
I hope that Manhunter gets back on a regular release schedule it's an awesome book.

Actually, she's already left. Last month's issue was her last. And they already have a replacement.

Why bring it back? It sold like snowballs in after snowstorm in Alaska, do they actually think that a different artist is going to change that. People aren't interested in her in her comic period.

Or maybe they don't like Marc's version of her? Give the title to someone different like Greg Rucka or Ed Brubaker and see how it fares.

How much advertising did Manhunter get, anyway? If it barely has any it's not a surprise the numbers aren't up. It would also help if Kate was on a super-team (ala Biurds of Prey, Outsiders) permanently, too. That would give her more exposure.

I was sorting through my DC books and wondered this too. I forget what was said about when it was coming back, but it sure seems a long time ago

It keeps getting a new chance because it is criticallly acclaimed, despite disappointing sales. Taking it away from Marc (the character's creator, who's doing an awesome job) and giving it to someone else would not only be a slap in the face, but really, really stupid.

That's the price you pay for giving any comic company rights to your characters.

besides, it's not like Manhunter hasn't been written by anyone else. She was written by Gail Simone in Birds of Prey recently, for example.

Which was obviously to give the character more exposure, in hopes that it would motivate people to pick-up her regular book. That's a lot different than taking the creator off the regular title--when everyone acknowledges he's doing great work.

Manhunter is one of the best comics out there.

I can't wait until it starts being released again.

True. But it also shows that Manhunter is just another character in the DCU that any writer could use if they wanted to. Therefore the creator doesn't have a "right" to only write her in the company. Which means he can be replaced.

It sucks but that's what happens when you give your characters to the big companies.

I'm sure he knew what he was getting into when he signed the contract.

The problem was this books ending really stunk. I found myself more interested in the supporting cast than the book's star.

It also sells really well as a trade paperback.

And, yeah, DC is waiting for the creators to become free before the relaunch.

I thought every single issue was excellent, and I was just as interested in the book's star as I was the supporting cast.

I never said otherwise, so I'm not sure who you think you're arguing with. I was responding to your original suggestion that the writer *should* be replaced (which I still think would be pointless, stupid and an insult), which is a lot different than saying he *can* be replaced.
