It was a complete fluke that I saw an episode of this series I didn't even know existed. It was on 9:55-10:00p my time on the Disney Channel. I just happened to be surfing when it came on so it appeared on my guide.
Who is Shaun the Sheep? It is a spinoff of the much beloved Wallace and Grommit series of short films, specifically the Oscar winner "A Close Shave."
The series has Shaun on a sheep farm (I don't know if this takes place before or after "A Close Shave"). A sheep dog is in charge and Shaun (the only sheep with wool on top of his head) is the first sheep to step up when there's a problem to be solved.
Like Grommit, none of the animals speak words, but they have outstanding facial expressions. The human farmer hmmed and huhed, but didn't speak in the episode.
I thought it was a very good short short (W&G shorts run about a half hour, this ran 5 minutes).
So...does this mean that Aardman Studios now work with Disney (Dreamworks ended their relationship with Aaardman after Flushed Away underpreformed).
So where did this come from? I dunno. I know Previews lists a Shaun the Sheep comic along with a Wallace and Grommit comic, so maybe this something that Disney imported from British TV.
Hopefully, it is a full series of Shaun the Sheep shorts.
