Going To San Antonio, TX next weekend

Ok from July 19 to July 23 my friend and me will be staying in San Antonio, TX and we've both never been there. So, anyone have any ideas for things to do?

Ok from July 19 to July 23 my friend and me will be staying in San Antonio, TX and we've both never been there. So, anyone have any ideas for things to do?I lived in SA for about 3 years in the late 90's, and I can guarantee you'll find 2 things:

1. Great Mexican food.

2. Lots of Mexicans

(They kind of go hand in hand).

As far as things to do, I'd say go downtown and check out the Riverwalk....it runs straight through downtown and is really beautiful in some spots. or maybe go see a show in the Alamodome....I dunno, San Antonio isn't necessarily a party town, I always saw it as a big city with a lazy, small town atmosphere.

Ooh, and if you happen to be on the South side on Sunday night, drive down Military Drive! You'll see the best damn Car Show of your life. ;)

The Riverwalk is a good suggestion. During the day you can ride one of the ferry boats and see the Alamo (if you're into that) and at night you can check out the bars and clubs along there. And beethbeb's right about the car show on Military Dr.

On the 21st there's a comic convention (Eckman's Card, Comic, and Toy Show) in Live Oak, TX (which is one of the small areas right outside SA). It's from 9-5 with a $3 admission fee. There's usually 150 or so sellers and quite a bit of stuff. Personally I just go through all the $.50 bins but there's stuff for everybody:

On the 20th (friday), pick up a copy of the San Antonio Express News, there'll be an insert in there called the Weekender that'll have a huge listing of events and shows that'll be going on while you're here.
