I remember once as a kid seeing a trailer for a movie that was going to be released in two years. Forgot the name of the movie but I remember it made quite an impression on me and my mother(the 2-year ahead of the movie's release trailer not the movie itself).

You think thats bad, we used to have to wait YEARS after the US relaes for a UK release, thank god its mostly simultaneous now, I guess they have to do it to stop piracy though.

LOL, I remember seeing the teaser trailer for Captain America.... which never made it to the theaters. It wasnt until Years later when I finally seen it on HBO. Until then, I always assumed the movie was canceled. There wasnt any footage in the teaser, just a "star wars" type text scrolling with the famous shield at the end.

He says why are you not in smallvile with clark.
she pulls of her blond wig to reveel red hair underneath. she says, I was hiding out because I am lutenant gordans daughter but my name is not really chloe sullivan its Barbra Gordon.
batman says you can serve me as oracle on the pc. she says yes but because i am not a cripple i can also serve you as batgirl. She throws off her clothes to reveel the bat suit underneath.

I have seen the trailer.
Last year I was an art student, and my art teacher got the Simpsons movie dvd in the mail. She said, this deosn't come out till next year, but as art student you need to see important animated films early. She said we just have to sit through these damn trailers. And the first trailer was for The Dark Knight .
It starts off with Barbara Gordon (Alison Mack) Getting a package in the mail, which is a Nomex Survival Suit. She says, " I hacked into the bat computer to find out Batman was Wayne, and then I emailed Lucious Fox and asked him If i could help Batman,so he sent me a Suit." She then holds it up and says "as you can see, he has altered the suit, to fit my slim, womanly breats and hips."
Then we see Babs talking to Lucious. She says "are you sure i'm ready for this, I had no kung fu training" he says "this damn war needs all the soldiers it can get".
Then we see batgirl flying and a big bat logo goes BOOM on the screen with the words dark knight 2008.
the tagline is "you met a dark knight now meet the girl knight"

Dude, if you're going to try to fool people, you should probably stick to what's already known about the movie. Some outrageous claim that Chloe Sullivan from Smallville is going to be Batgirl isn't going to fool many people. A better joke would have been that Rachel Dawes becomes Batgirl. She's in the movie so there's a kernel of truth. Not much, but enough to get some people to think about it.

I have seen The Dark Knight Teaser. I don't want to reveal everything...
It starts out with the WB logo gracing the screen, followed by the DC logo and the Legendary pictures logo. The screen goes black.
It opens back up as a commercial paid for by the friends of Harvey Dent. We are shown shots of him talking, making public speeches, and walking in a suit, while a deep voice comes on and talks about Harvey Dent. A generic politician commercial.
What seems to be halfway through the commercial, it is interrupted by static, and blacks out. Out of nowhere a crystal clear image comes onto the screen of a blacked out man with large windows behind him. The camera slowly zooms in on him. He's talking (about what I won't say) and as he finishes he begins laughing. Lightning strikes, lighting up his face, as the laughter grows more manic. Cut to black.
The Batman Begins (now The Dark Knight's bat) emblem is shown with the words The Dark Knight. Then it says Summer 2008 and has the website at the bottom.
Its a damn good teaser and i cant wait.

Nolan caught me and said I cannot be released unless I prove that I am a big enough Batman fan not to leak this info. He said as a test what happened in Batman issue 365? I said it was about red indians of course. He said wow you really are a fan, I know I can entrust my info to you.
You must trust Nolan. He know what he is doing, and he knows it is safe to entrust his secrets to true Batman fans like me. I am only allowed to share the info with other true batman fans.

SPOILERS?
BOF reports: It’s basically the movie Bat-logo, slowing being blown apart by beams of light/lasers (?). There is some sort of conversation between Bruce (Christian Bale) and Alfred (Michael Caine), and then the Joker card showing up as the logo is destroyed. Some of the emails have indicated The Joker (Heath Ledger) says something at the end as well.

Movie companies often outsource web work so that isn't a surprise. Ibelieveinharveydenttoo.com was legit, and this one appears to be as well. Right now it says:
"Checkpoint 1: Ready to play a joke? Tell your stooges on the ground to look up. They'll tell you what to do next."
Then there's a place to enter whatever it is you're supposed to do next.
Next (in small letters) is a link titled "My Wannabes." The link doesn't really go anywhere except a page with "My Wannabes" written on it. I think it's supposed to be an aerial webcam of the convention center. Just a hunch.
In the past couple of minutes "Get more recruits to the van, any way you can" has been added at the bottom.

I think the trailor told us a lot.
"I Knew the mob wouldn't go down without a fight"
Sounds straight out of Long Halloween or Dark Victory. And we know that Eric Robertson is playing some kind of mafia character, so there's most likely going to be involvement from them.
"...In their desparation they turned to a man they didn't understand"
Didn't the mafia hire some of the "costumes" in Dark Victory? I remember Falcone tried to use the Riddler in LH. Sounds like the mob is going to come into contact with the Joker.
"People are going to die, I'm a man of my word"
Sounds like a line from the climax of the movie where the Joker probably has some big mass killing planned.
Add to this the "I Believe in Harvey Dent" ad and it looks like we might see the Batman/Dent/Gordon trio from LH.
And most importantly, now we know who the joker card at the end of Begins was referring to...;)

I didn't see the teaser with The Simpsons, but I did see it on the G4 channel because they were covering Comic Con, and they played it on there.
It was a horrible teaser. They could have shown something, that was really cheap. At least with the BB teaser they showed something.
I actually first saw it online and thought something was wrong with it, but then I saw it on tv and was like, what the hell!!! That's crap!
Heath sounds really dumb, he was the dumbest choice. Looks nothing like him and doesn't care for the character or comics.
and so is Nolan, he has no vision, and no imagination.

I disagree with every word you say here and since you haven't said why you feel this way it's hard to take you seriously. That said, it's a slight refreshment from all the "ZOMG, in Nolan we trust!" comments which seem to saturate forums nowadays.
Anyway, the teaser did exactly what it wsas supposed to do. As I said earlier I would have been really surprised if they'd shown a proper clip of the Joker - far too soon for that. And, as someone else already said, the teaser does seem to give a lot of information about the film, at least a lot to speculate over.
I'm interested in how you think Nolan has no vision or imagination though.

I'm interested in how you think Nolan has no vision or imagination though.
I second that. Nolan is one of the better director's on the market today. Prestige, Memento, Insomnia. These are all solid films that show plenty of vision. And most will agree that BB was near perfect.
I'll give you Heath may not have been the opimtal choice for the Joker ( I was in the Paul Bettany camp) but I'm not going on a "he sucks" tirade until I see the film and see what he does on screen. He's a decent actor and I think he can pull it off.
PS- Teaser. Not trailer. Teaser.

I really dig this teaser, but I had a cool idea a while back for a teaser that would be slightly more fulfilling.
It takes the formula of the original Begins teaser, which as you should recall, had some great dialogue from Bruce/Batman.
Here's a basic discription:
A voice over by Ledger:
"I thought there was nothing to it.No meaning to life."
(several sweeping shots of crowded, cubicle filled offices, bustling streets, packed train cars)
"But the night I met him I learned something."
(A quick shot of Batman decending upon a figure in the forground.)
"I've remembered it ever since."
(fade into a shot of a man pulling himself agonizingly from a filthy canal. His clothes are tattered and filthy.Fade out)
"I’ve even shared it,once or twice"
(fade into a shot of a dark alleyway. The camera is slowly panning downwards.A figure is sauntering off away from us,already receding into the shadows.Just as the dialogue continues, the camera falls on the corpse of a young woman. Her face is contorted in a hidious smile. Her eyes are completely dead.Fade out)
"That there is a meaning to it.A wonderful twist."
(several fading close up shots of a man putting on clothes.Buttons are buttoned on a dull green shirt,an arm slides into the sleeve of a purple jacket, the laces of wingtip shoes are carefully tied)
"The punchline of life’s great joke......"
(The fading shots continue.A bowtie is fastened.White gloves are pulled on.A flower is pinned onto a lapel. The music, which has been slowly building, reaches a creshendo as the camera pans down the figures arm to reveal a playing card held between his middle and index fingers, the back of the card facing the audience.A second or so after we see the card, the screen goes black and the music suddenly stops)
".......ME"
(We see a flash of the Joker, just for a split second, smiling at the camera and looking evil as all hell.Title fades in)
Thoughts?

^Sounds really long for a teaser. THis one was only like 1:43 or so.

Given that it'd have the same pacing as the old teaser,I'd say 1:30 or so.Not so long for a teaser

"...In their desparation they turned to a man they didn't understand"
Didn't the mafia hire some of the "costumes" in Dark Victory? I remember Falcone tried to use the Riddler in LH. Sounds like the mob is going to come into contact with the Joker.
Or maybe, since we already saw images of him, they are going to hire the Scarecrow instead.
... What? I'd like to see some conflict between him and Joker as well.

I see what you mean but surely the teaser is just about Bruce pushing the mob towards the Joker and him having to deal with the consequences of this? Simple as that I'd have thought. It's not meant to be there for people to think "ahh..this means the Scarecrow - as confirmed by those online photos!", nor is it meant for people to think"ahh, they meant the Scarecrow in that teaser, not the Joker! I see what they did!" as they finally watch the movie. It's half a minute of footage meant to intrigue people about arguably the most iconic villain of the film's titular character isn't it, nothing less.

I think this is to put Batman out to a broad audience.
Yeah because Batman is such a niche thing.

HAHAHGAGHAHAGAGHAGHAGHAHGHGAGHAGHAGHAGHGHAGHAGHA. Hilarious. Whiny Fanboy of the year goes to the guy who likes his stuff childish and cute.

I thought about that, but Sarcasm through the internet doesn't show that well.

first of all, have I missed the CBR news thing about the Dark Knight teaser? Cause its pretty big news, I emailed them about it, but I reckon I must have missed it. anyway, just in case you haven't seen it, here's a link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWw0ov-cAUg
but my MAIN QUESTION:
again for the uninformed which I expect is very few of you but you could get at this trailer by calling a number and following riddles or something...unfortunately, I'm a filthy brit, so I can't access this number or start on any riddle trail. I was wondering whether anyone could tell me what happens when you ring it up, or if anyone has recorded it and put it online. Link (http://www.cinematical.com/2007/07/27/the-dark-knight-teaser-trailer-hits-with-new-joker-photo/) to article I found out about this on)
THANKS!

Yeah, CBR did something with it on the day it was revealed during Comic-Con.
