View Full Version : Would you steal from Paris Hilton, if you could get away with it scott free?

I had an idea, and thought getting the answers would be interesting. Almost no one likes Paris Hilton... and I believe a fair amount of people resent that she's utterly selfish and self-centered... but has been blessed with material plenty all her life, and totally takes it for granted.
So... go vote in the poll, and post any additional comments here. :)
What poll?
As for the question, no I would not steal from Paris Hilton. No matter how much I dislike someone I still would not take something that belongs to them.

Sorry, you have to post the thread first, THEN set up the poll. It's up now. :)

It depends what it was, ie. would it be worth the effort?

I wouldn't, no. What's her's is her's, and what's mine is mine. Whether I like her or not is immaterial.

I wouldn't steal from her but if she wants to give me some money, I will take it.

Nope, I wouldn't take something that isn't mine. What's hers is hers, and if she pisses it all away, it's not for me to worry about.

Nah, stealing is wrong. I mean, even though I don't like her, if she came into the ER, I'd still treat her and try to save her life.
It's just that I would do it wearing a suit of armor, ten sets of latex gloves, and a HASMAT/CDC team behind me.

I hate the small segment of society she reflect, but she's not the cause of of tarts worldwide. Just their spokewoman.

:D
While, under such circumstances, I would find it VERY tempting to steal something from someone who obviously doesn't appreciate what she has, and give it to someone whom I think is more deserving... I wouldn't, because I honestly believe in karma. I don't want the bad karma of stealing (even if I'm playing Robin Hood with the money)... and I honestly believe that, sooner or later, *her* karma will catch up with *her*.
Besides---who am I to judge? Having an opinion on a person is one thing---actively trying to pretend you're the agent of their karma is something else... a kind of hubris, I think.
So as tempting as it might be to take, say ten million dollars from her and give it to some cause that helps battered women and children... no, I wouldn't do it, for the reasons I stated above. I think eventually karma catches up with everyone... and for every bit of plenty she's truly wasted (not just nourishing self, but literally wasted) she'll have to answer for.

Or maybe it is a test to see if you would hold man-made beliefs above the basic idea of right and wrong. Ie, just as stealing so you don't starve is generally viewed as an okay thing, stealing Paris' things so you don't starve would be the same.
Food for thought.

I would, absolutely, yes.
I wouldn't steal her blind, I wouldn't want her to end up a destitute prostitute.
But I've watched people my entire life work their asses off and get nothing but misery and debt. Real, back breaking jobs like coal mining and maiding.
I'm absolute sick of watching people I love get the shitty end of the stick. So I'll fuck up my theoretical karma to give them a break once in their lives by stealing from a girl who thinks she's better than anyone else.

No.
I'd happily steal from the mob if I could though, because... well, it's the mob. Fuck 'em. (And there's no moral qualms about stealing coz they stole it all anyway!)

Well, the poll wasn't designed with the idea that "hey, you're starving". :) For that matter, I was pissed as hell at people who lumped all the "looters" in New Orleans etc. together, no matter what it was they were taking.
Yes, those who took things like tvs and diamonds were in the wrong. IMO, those who took things like "food, water, and clothing" were NOT wrong. For one thing, the food and water were often perishable items anyway. For another, it was for survival in a true disaster situation.
For that matter, there were chains of grocery stores (IIRC, Publix, for example) that looked at the crisis and said "Screw it! Our food is going to rot and be ruined anyway by the flood waters... if these poor folks can get the food etc. before it goes bad, and are able to use it to survive, more power to them." And they publically declared so.
So, someone stealing for sustenance for themselves and/or their families in such a situation is far different, IMO, than someone taking a $1200 diamond necklace, under the same circumstances.

You what??? EWWWW! By proxy, maybe? How much you gonna pay the guy, and are you offering life insurance, accidental death, and longterm disability?
Heh.
Sorry... her character is so loathesome, there's no way in hell I'd do her. I'd rather screw Martha Stewart... and that's really saying something.
Now if it came down to a choice between Paris Hilton and Anne Coulter... I'd just shoot myself in the head and avoid the whole thing. ;)

I had to steal toilet paper from public restrooms back when I was a teen, for example. I wasn't thrilled, but when you're homeless and can't find a job, what do you do?
And if at all possible, find some way to pay it back once you get your feet back under you.

No, sleeping with Coulter is much more preferable to sleeping with Paris, if only for health reasons. Paris has so many STD's, her bloodstream is probably closer to a Komodo Dragons at this point. You can't say that about Coulter. I'm surprised the CDC hasn't placed Paris in a plastic bubble yet. I'm sure Al-Quada has already thought about kidnapping Paris and turning her into some kind of biological weapon. Or maybe they think that just by her being free, she already is.

So not only is Paris out of OUR hair, but all of Al-Quada gets five million STD's and then dies. Sounds like a win-win to me!
Let's make it a clean sweep and send Lindsey and Britney over as well, wouldn't want Paris to get lonely.
All the local drug dealers will go out of business without those three here. Bonus!

I think stealing is wrong, but in this case, it would amuse me far too much to pass up the opportunity. Provided I don't take that much. Whatever's the equivalent of someone stealing a dime from me, which I wouldn't even notice is gone.
Of course, I'd feel too guilty to spend it on myself, and I can't spend it on friends and family because I'd be too tempted to tell them where it came from. I'd give it all to charity.

Komodo Dragons carry disease in their blood?

I think they have over fifty different strains of septic bacteria in their saliva and bloodstream. So actually, you're safer being bit by a Komodo Dragon than sleeping with Paris.

I'd steal from anyone wealthy enough not to miss a bit of jewelry or cash if I knew I'd get away with it.
I am after all, a pirate. :D
i picked choice #2, but my addendum would be that I 'try' not to steal. ;) Possibly a product from my parents' rearing abilities to install the guilt of stealing early on.
The temptation is always there, and I'd have no idea what to do if I knew I could get like a breifcase full of 1000 dollar bills and get away with it scott free.

I'm an asshole who doesn't earn a lot, so I'd probably steal from anyone rich enough to spare it if there were guarantees I wouldn't get caught. I voted that I'd keep it, but in all liklihood I'd pay off some debts. Which would include giving sackloads to my parents.
