It sounds like fun. I've soured on Countdown, but I may give this one a try.
The idea of an Earth 3 Joker sounds really fun. I'm sure McKeever will do it justice.

So if this is a new Earth-3 where all the people are now alive again, does that mean that Alex Luthor will be there too?
Originally wan't he the superman-equivilant of that world?

No, Ultraman is the Earth 3 equiverlent of Superman, Alex Luthor is Lex Luthor's counter part.

To clarify, Alex Luthor (of COIE, and Infinite Crisis fame) was the son of Alex Luthor (who was the actual Luthor counterpart), who was basically the only "superhero" on Earth 3. Incidentally, Alex Sr. was married to Lois Lane. I'm still not entirely clear, in spite of reading the interview, if this Crime Syndicate is the same as the Anti-Matter Crime Syndicate of the Morrison/Quitely run. In the Morrison stories, if I'm not mistaken, Lois Lane was also Superwoman.
I believe that DC has stated that the new alternate earths resemble, but are not identical with those of a similar name. The new Earth 3 is therefore not the old Earth 3, but only a world that looks and feels like the old Earth 3 (clear as mud?). Thus, it would appear that there could be a "new" earth 3 Luthor possible. Maybe he'll team up with the Jokester at some point to take on the Crime Syndicate. The possiblities are endless!!!
Its pretty clear that the current multiverse is not the same as the old one.
Anyway it really is an interesting idea and I can't understand why no one thought of it before.

Having the new multiverse resemeble the old one is really confusing.

I have to say as much as I hate how Countdown is turning out so far, I'm willing to give this a try. :D
