Just this past weekend I saw The Decemberists at the Hollywood Bowl with the LA Philharmonic (http://news.yahoo.com/s/launch/20070708/en_launch/45019888) and it was beyond awesome! Sadly, they only played for an hour and a half, but it was a magical hour and a half. I will be seeing them again, sans orchestra, this Monday night in Central Park.

Decemberists Set List

The Crane Wife
The Infanta
We Both Go Down Together
Bagman’s Gambit
Odalisque
Perfect Crime #2*

Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, in Dallas, during "The Rising" tour

Throw in lots of Brave Combo shows, but not really a "concert"

I saw The New Year at Spaceland and they played a wonderful show. I was also excited to learn that they're releasing a third album in 2008. They're one of my favorite bands.

I think I'm going to see Daniel Johnston at the Henry Fonda in August. That should be interesting.

It's been FAR too long, but Metallica in Vancouver, 2004, for my birthday.

Those St. Anger songs sound really, really good live.

I saw Tool live here in Cincinnati about two weeks ago. One of the best shows I've ever seen them do.

That would have been the last concert I went to which was Robbie Williams about 10 years ago

The Red Elvises, at a small club in Minneapolis, in 2003. Great surf rock music, with diverse influences, including eastern European folk music. Except for the drummer, everybody in the band took turns playing each other's instruments, and everybody sang. Their front man Oleg is a grinning devil with a great sense of humor.

Sounds awesome. They're playing with an orchestra in Philly later this summer.

Go if you can. It's pretty freakin' amazing. But then I LOVE symphonic music, so it was like a perfect marriage.

Ah, it was 1998, and the group was Manowar. Wow. I know I'm going to be ridiculed now, but that concert really kicked ass.

Pixies at the Hammerstein ballroom in NYC.

I had seen them a few weeks prior at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville (The Opry!), and it was awesome, but they just blew the fucking roof of the Hammerstein.

It's funny to see the same band in two diefferent places so close together, and see the difference. Maybe it was becasue TV on The Radio opened for them in NYC, and cranked the energy up to 11.

A few months back I saw Zs (http://www.myspace.com/zstheband) in a very intimate setting which was mind blowing.

However, back in aught two or aught three, seeing Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks open for Radiohead was probably the pinnacle of my concert going experiences. Those weren't no lawn seats neither, front and center!

Wow, that sounds awesome. A few months ago I got to see Malkmus and the Jicks at the El Rey. That concert cemented it for me that Stephen Malkmus is a rock and roll king.

Yeah, it was amazing. It did suck that Malkmus only played am opening half hour set, but I was able to see them headlining their own show a few years later at the Metro in Chicago. It was fantastic.

But man, the double whammy of Malkmus and Radiohead...unbelievable. Even got the Radiohead set bootlegged.

I went to a festival this weekend and for me the stand-outs who I would definitely pay good money to see again were:

Arcade Fire
Rodrigo y Gabriella
Seasick Steve.
