Would you believe, I actually have a feeling this might be funny and good?

I have to admit I was extremely skeptical, but that trailer has me sold. It's got one hell of a cast too.

Yeah, fine, but he is no Andy Dick!

Wow, I'm impressed -- a couple of those gags look like something Mel Brooks and Buck Henry would have pulled off. I hope they have the shoe phone and the cone of silence. It wouldn't be Get Smart without either. Also the classic Sigfreid line: "This is Kaos! We don't [fill in the blank]!"
I want this whole series out on DVD NOW!

The whole series, less the final season. ;) The moment they had the kid, it died.

I don't even remember the kid...guess there is a reason.

The phone and cone have been announced.
The screenwriters have said that there's an attempt to keep the politicalsatire fresh by moving on from the cold war towards a look at the kind of bureaucratic bungling we've seen in the past few years, presumably post-9/11 and with Katrina. Supposedly, part of the setup is that nobody knows what agency does what...
... And I get the vibe from interviews that KAOS is a rival intelligence agency working for the U.S. government that breaks away and threatens to ally with terrorists, blackmailing the U.S. government with its own secrets. (I guess part of the premise with the "lampooning bureaucracy" angle is the idea that the governments' own agencies aren't even sure if they work for or against the United States.)
Should be edgy without sacrificing some of the broader comedy, based on what I've seen.

KidS. The twins. One of whom grew up to be Andy Dick, which is the moment it died for me... The premise of reviving Get Smart was fun... and I think the 90s revival would have worked anywhere but at Fox and with anyone but Andy Dick.

OMG, I'd forgotten that I'd seen a promo for this in a theatre---thanks! I can't wait for it to come out! Not only does the cast look great; if the gags continue like the bead thing in the promo... I LOL'd outrageously. :D
I loved watching the show as a kid (yes I'm old enough to have seen it when it originally aired on the major network---Nick wasn't a twinkle in its creator's eye yet)... and if the promo is an indicator, it looks like they're gonna do great justice to the original show.
Priceless. :D

Like TC, I guess there was a reason I forgot.

It has THE ROCK. That and Carrell make this A MUST SEE FILM. I hope we see The Rock do his eye thing and have Max mock it somehow.

man rock and correll would make an awesome show in itself.
the big question is mel brooks is he involved...if so , I am so there.
mel brooks is the man
was the andy dick one that bad, I remember seeing a couple of episodes, it seemed okay, not great, but I thought that was just 1st season jitters.

I've totally purged the very thought of that show from my memory. Thank GOD!

I don't how involved Mel Brooks is, or if he is involved at all, but he is getting a creator's credit.

My daughter and I saw this preview last night at Harry Potter. I'm excited for it, but a little bummed we have to wait until next summer.

No direct consultation, last I heard.
But it would be nice if they publicly get his blessing and it would be nicer still if he got a cameo, say as the Admiral. (Failing that, I'm thinking Dick Van Dyke would be GREAT.)

I can't wait. I loved this show so much as a kid. Sadly enough at my age I should've been watching normal Nick instead of Nike at Nite when the reruns were showing. My cousin and I loved this show. I still think that Agent 99 should've been played by Nicole de Boer. She looks like the original Agent 99 did. Either way I was nervous when I heard about the movie but it actually looks great. I'm also anxious to buy the series that just came out on DVD.
I wonder if they'll make an F Troop movie?

I used to have a "Get Smart" theme on my old windows 2000 machine, I loved it! Can't find a decent one for XP, sadly. Even more sad, trying to explain just what the heck the show was about to my kids. "Missed it by that much!" just doesn't have the same kind of kick without the show reference...

That just means that the movie acknowledges that Mel Brooks created the ideas the movie is based on, not that he worked on this particular script.

Hey, you shouldn't feel so old. I'm 19 and I used to love watching them! ^_^ Loved the Andy Dick series, too. Carell looks like he'll do a fine job, especially with that phone scene.

She must be older than I think she is, but Anne Hathaway as a love interest for Steve Carrell just seems wrong.

I know I was underestimating him thinking he might, but I'm so glad Carrell didn't adopt a Don Adams impression for this.

I was/am concerned about that as well.... I just want to hear how he says the line: Missed it by that much.

Fair enough. I associate Anne Hathaway with teenage roles. I thought she was probably about 22, but she is indeed older than I thought.

Just looking at the trailer brought me back to when I first saw Get Smart on YTV during the 90s... Laugh Out Loud Good...
...This is very promising.

It's OK... By my estimate of Hollywood actors playing teenage roles, Hathaway's at least 33.

Hurm. As much as I'm sick of remakes of old TV shows.... this one looks good. I remember the show in reruns as a kid.
Carell seems perfect. This trailer seemed to show some good bits.
Oh and I have the total hots for Anne Hathaway on a pathological level. So I'm sold on that casting. If only she was in the trailer more, I wouldn't have to keep rewinding it over and over. Um.. not that I do that... yeah.

I showed my wife this trailer......
She wasn't unimpressed with it, just "eh". With her not being a "Get Smart" fan, I was expecting her to really dislike it. However, she did laugh out loud when the beads fell to the floor. :)

ah you're correct... I missed the bit in parenthesis...
Curious that The Rock has dropped "The Rock"....
probably a good career move...
