Sincere apologies if I missed a live thread again, but I'd been looking to see if there was any reaction to the Lying in the Gutters rumor that plans are underway for their to be a Punisher baby.
I'd be a little surprised to see Garth Ennis taking on that kind of storyline (not a bad surprise necessarily). It could be in Punisher War Journal, but that really wouldn't seem to fit the direction that book is going in right now.
Have people missed this? Have i missed the discussion?
I have only recently been getting caught up on the last few years worth of Punisher stories - so i was wondering if someone out there might have some candidates for the mother of this rumored Punisher offspring.
I think its more likely to be someone we've been introduced to than someone from out of the blue.
If it were to occur in PWJ, could it be with elektra before she was replaced by a Skrull? I'd heard those two hooked up. (Unlikely)
There was that O'Brien girl from Ennis' Up is down & Black is White storyline (#23-24). Any other candidates?

Could you post a link to the article you read this in?
I doubt it'll be Elektra or Black Widow, who were the first people I thought of for the 616. I'd say it'll be some ancillary character if it's the MU.
Spoiler for Punisher MAX: Man of Stone
O'Brien is dead

It appears that every character that had sex with the Punisher has died earlier than 9 months after having sex, so it couldn't be a character in the MAX series.
Sounds like something happening in the War Journal series. If it happens at all.

I didn't put up the link earlier because it was from right here on this website in the latest Lying in the Gutters article.
But here's the excerpt and a link, for those who need it:

LYING IN THE V VOLUME 2 COLUMN 112
MARVEL MUMBLINGS
Last week, I gave you word of a Punisher Baby on the way soon.
Well, I also hear words of a Bob Reynolds (The Sentry) and Bruce Banner (The Hulk) fist fight on the way. Let the weakling secret identities clash!
Also, a mutant birth? Apparently they've been non-existent after "House Of M."

I'd say the baby's gonna be in MAX judging from the cover in this article (http://forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=120373)

You know I for one would like to see what the Punisher would do if he ever had a baby of his own. :o
The shopping for diapers may make a funny done in one tale. :p

Just so long as that isn't "mom."

It might be another big step in the direction of something I never thought I'd see, a supporting cast for Punisher.
I realize he can't have a supporting cast like anybody else, but we're seeing more and more recurring characters - yet done in a natural way. I'm a big fan of supporting casts because i feel they add depth to any character.
I wouldn't expect a baby and/or mom to be around constantly, but from time to time that couldbe interesting. Especially for the punisher to have family again and see what choices he makes or doesn't make because of it.

Looks like today's new article on Punisher #50 raises the chances the Punisher baby rumor is true.

"It involves Barracuda finding an interesting and previously unexpected angle to hit Frank from, and Frank's equally creative response,? explained Ennis. ? ?We'll see just how smart and how dangerous Barracuda is, and how downright lethal Frank can be when riled."
Combine this with the cover of #51 that Majinlex pointed out.............
