I apologize for offending you.

Joe, I apologize to you. I'm sorry I let my frustration get the better of me. I feel like I've said the same thing fifteen different ways, and I'm not being heard and/or understood.

Sorry for taking it out on you.

This is one of many reasons I respect the hell out of you, Mac.

I think one might see interesting results if one took all that iraq war money and instead paid for the higher education of every american who can't afford it.

I dunno if it's feasible, but it would be amazing to see.

Edit: ...Though even then, things are tight for educated americans. How many lost their jobs in the tech sector? D:

Funding higher education isn't the problem, it's getting public high school systems to produce capable students. Even there you can't say they're underfunded since spend per student is typically higher than in private schools.

Even there you can't say they're underfunded since spend per student is typically higher than in private schools.Private schools have smaller classes and less infrastructure to maintain, generally, though, for one.

I also think the american system is a little weird in college, though, too- in canada, if you're going to study the arts, you don't need all those maths and sciences and so on. You can go right in and focus your time and energy on your chosen field of study. (You still have to take languages, I think, but people need to be able to write.)

I wonder if it would be cheaper for american students' tuition if they didn't have to pay for all that unnecessary stuff.

True, but that wasn't my point. Did we innocently sell them stuff that they turned to nefarious purposes, or did we sell it to them knowing htey would do so? Is it naivety or plausible deniability?

They were sold computers which frankly can be used for anything. During the Clinton era there were concerns over whether Iraq should be allowed to import Sony Playstation 2s since even those could be repurposed for military use. They also got germ samples from the CDC which they later used in their bioweapons program, claiming they needed them for medical research.

IMO if the US was really interested in helping out Iraqi WMD programs, they would have easily provided a lot more technical and financial help.

Well, you know. It's ok to tell someone -- twice -- that it's their fault that they don't love their psychotically and relentlessly abusive family.

Love should be unconditional, and stuff.

Okay, then.

I love you, mommy. I especially love it when you spit on me and threaten me with large knives and kick me so hard you damage my spine.

I love you, Daddy, when I'm not sure when it's safe to fall asleep.

I love you, sister, for stealing my stuff and telling my mom to kick me out when I was sixteen and just out of major surgery.

I love you, brother, for assaulting me, and then lying to the cops so that I got taken away and thrown out onto the street.

I love you so much. I can't wait for the family reunion. You know, the one where my sister's zonked out on drugs and sits next to her abusive boyfriend, my father's calling my mom a bitch and trying to get her to fuck him while his long-suffering gf sits next to him, and my brother's popping his antipsychotics like a good little boy whilst berating every single one of us for being losers.

Gosh! Miss you soooooooooo much! <3

I just can't wait for the inappropriate touches, kisses, and punches in the mouth. Maybe I'll even be wet this time! <3

Fuck... I'm so sorry, Rev.

May those arseholes get hit by an Australian beer tanker.

Didn't Stan Lee base the Juggernaut on one of those?

I don't run around crying about how mommy and daddy don't love me, generally; there's no point. It changes absolutely nothing. But I do have no problem detailing WHY I don't feel that it's my fault that I don't love them, as Samurai tried to say that it was.

I live over 4000 miles away (give or take another thousand or so) and have no contact with them. I made a new family of my own and my husband's in-laws seem to think I'm swell.

And to tangent on those implications of Samurai's: I understand family obligations very well, in part because I don't take family for granted. And since I have taken care of several disabled significant others before I became completely disabled, I actually do understand the demands of taking care of disabled loved ones.

What I don't give a pass to anyone for is taking advantage of those responsibilities to try to dodge accountability. If you -- rhetorical you, Samurai in specific -- say you're too busy to answer replies to your own questions because your work or your family need you, don't then spend all afternoon chatting in other threads and looking up that stuff and posting it and then tell me you were too busy working. Last I knew, wanking in the mega thread was NOT work or taking care of one's sick dad.

And you don't then say, 'But you wouldn't understand,' or, 'You hide behind your disability' while hiding behind your daddy's disability. My disability is NOT fair game for you to use just because you feel free to use your dad's.

We'll replace the load with Miller Lite, then.

We're just like America. Only, y'know, not.

Not sure how you'd fare with the chemical reactions and stuff though. We're just as bad as the US for stuff like that. Except more spread out. Only 20 million people here! And most of them congregated on the east coast, so if you avoided that, it might make the difference, who knows?
