WIZARD: Who the hell is Wraith, and why does he get his own miniseries, starting with this week’s Annihilation: Conquest—Wraith #1?

GRILLO-MARXUACH: [Laughs] Well, Wraith is a completely new character. It was one of those things where the Annihilation: Conquest concept was sprung over at the House of Ideas, and one of the things that they discussed was that there aren’t a lot of brand new cosmic characters. There’s a lot of characters you can build a miniseries around, but what it really didn’t have was somebody who represented a completely new viewpoint on that world. They wanted somebody who was a little more of a horror-type personality. Somebody who represented a darker side.

sounds to me like Wraith is to Conquest as Drax was to Annihilation. how unfortunate. i was hoping he would be a bit more original.

I just don't see a reason to get excited over Wraith. He seems so... flat, from what I have seen. It's almost like he's doomed to be a cool visual with a dull non-personality. I'll see where the first issue goes before I decide to slap down money on him.

well its only 4 issues so its still worth buying no matter how crappy the character is

I think I'll wait for the Annihilation: Conquest HCs.
