DISCLAIMER: Please don't take this post as a sales pitch. This late in the game, i could care less about changing your mind about the series. This isn't a thread about the series' cancellation or its quality. i'm just wondering, for those who actually sampled the title, when was it that you said, "this guy is too much of a jerk; i'm out!" or, if you continued reading, what do you consider to be Eric O'Grady's worst behavior? :)

I'm still missing a couple of issues but doing THAT on his best pal grave was totally and absolutely irredeemable

yeah, it wasn't the classiest of moves. but it didn't irk me as much as him flipping out on Abigail when she revealed her son. Chris has been dead since issue 2. it's not like his ghost was sitting there watching them tongue each other. but he emotionally hurt Abigail; a living person.

I would have to say when he tried to score on his best friend's grave; you'd think he'll have a little tac. And see, his freaking out on Abigail was bad too, and I hope she plants one where it hurts.

she might have missed her chance since he was last seen broken, bloodied, and in SHIELD custody. :D
p.s. and are you saying that you wouldn't have tried to 'hit that' if you were Eric? :D

Making out on his friend's grave was the worst.

Stealing the costume off of his friend's corpse: I f I was Eric, I would have done the same thing. Eric didn't steal the suit because he was greedy or being a jerk, he did it to survive.
His treatment of Veronica: He finally gets to sleep with her at a vulnerable moment but after that he tosses her aside like trash. That's low but not as irredeemable as the other choices.
The spying on showering women: C'mon, honestly, if you're a guy wouldn't you at least be tempted to do this? Even though it disrepesects their privacy, it's not like Eric is raping or being violent with them. What you don't kow won't hurt you :p
Him permanently disfiguring Mitch Carson: That was by accident. I doubt eric did that on purpose.
His treatment of the elderly: Kicking the Black Fox in the family jewels is pretty bad but Eric made up for it and became friends with the Black Fox. Plus, it's not like the Black Fox was a good-natured, innocent old man.
His treatment of Abigail: This was a close second but Abigail did lie to him. Yes, Eric over reacted and was totally out of line, but still, she lied to him.
Making out on his friend's grave: This takes the cake for me. Have some respect people!
But I still love the book. :o

Stealing the costume off of his friend's corpse: I f I was Eric, I would have done the same thing. Eric didn't steal the suit because he was greedy or being a jerk, he did it to survive.
counter-point: you're right but it must be said that he was somewhat responsible for Chris' death. the latter came to Eric's room out of friendship, even though Eric had basically ruined Chris' relationship with Veronica. and Eric also pushed Chris out of the way to run back into his room; setting Chris up (accidentally) to be shot in the head.
His treatment of Veronica: He finally gets to sleep with her at a vulnerable moment but after that he tosses her aside like trash. That's low but not as irredeemable as the other choices.
counterpoint: but it did result in a pregnancy; making it doubly reckless and cold. it should also be noted that he never came clean about Chris not cheating on her. so not only did he stab his friend in the back but he also didn't clear his name once he had gotten what he wanted from Veronica.
The spying on showering women: C'mon, honestly, if you're a guy wouldn't you at least be tempted to do this? Even though it disrepesects their privacy, it's not like Eric is raping or being violent with them. What you don't kow won't hurt you :p
counterpoint: well i have no counterpoint because i would definately abuse the powers. doesn't make it right, though.
Him permanently disfiguring Mitch Carson: That was by accident. I doubt eric did that on purpose.
counterpoint: he didn't but it's not like he was sorry about it, either. remember that he had Mitch swarmed by a group of ants issues beforehand. and he didn't wait around to see if Mitch made it out okay. Eric also kind of ruined Mitch's career since the latter was one of the main suspects for the ant-man armor's theft. Mitch pretty much had to go after whoever stole the costume to save his job.
His treatment of the elderly: Kicking the Black Fox in the family jewels is pretty bad but Eric made up for it and became friends with the Black Fox. Plus, it's not like the Black Fox was a good-natured, innocent old man.
counterpoint: true. and he did fire a gun at Eric beforehand; intending to kill him. i'd say that they have been equally dickish to one another.
His treatment of Abigail: This was a close second but Abigail did lie to him. Yes, Eric over reacted and was totally out of line, but still, she lied to him.
counterpoint: true but Eric could have handled it a lot better. his outburst left her in tears and woke up her son. he could have just said, "i can't handle this" and walked out/broke up with her the next day. the way it happened made it seem like he was enraged because she wasn't about to have sex with him.
Making out on his friend's grave: This takes the cake for me. Have some respect people!
counterpoint: yeah, this is probably the only thing on the list that i absolutely wouldn't have done. but i imagine that emotions were running high; enough for the both of them to visit the graveyard while it was raining and at night. Veronica might have gone there to grieve but she was wearing a soaking wet in just a bra and a dress shirt. plus it took her a while to stop the making out. so it was a bad act committed by 2 people.
But I still love the book. :o
me too! but i'm an *-hole. :)

Ditto.
His behavior on issue # 1 was despicable and it clearly turned a lot of people off.
Afterwards, all the "good" stuff he did was probably too little too late to save the book from readers' apathy and from cancellation.

None! Eric O'Grady is definetly redeemable, he's not a villain, just a person with low morals.
But to play the game, I picked where he got all angry and shouted towrads Abigail. Even worse than the grave because Veronica should have known not to kiss Eric in the cemetary in the first place. Eric was after one thing and he got it - he's def a jerk but I put soem blame on Veronica.
Him having huge feelings for Abby then chewing her out liek that in ehr own house a little unsettling at first. But I think he can be redeemed.
Because he's Ant-Man and little men have big hearts - i think:confused:

I said other because I don't think we got there yet for me. I was waiting for the big "Ewwww!". I find I was always looking for the next low. It could have been watching Eric's morality roll down hill till it looked to be almost at the bottom. Then he could have done something so that everyone keeps hope he might be a good guy one day... then he could work on pissing away that new found respect.
So sad... :(

i figure that will happen in issue 12. he'll do something heroic and then instantly piss all of our faith down the toilet. *crosses fingers*

as time went on i liked Veronica less and less. she started off a pretty shallow individual and became a really stupid one, imo. she should have had more faith in Chris and used her head before sleeping with Eric (having already had him try to make out w/ her on Chris' grave). and now she's decided to hide the pregnancy. she's just too stupid for words. oh and she hates horror movies! booo.
I thought he was funny... even if he is a jerk, at least he's the type of "hero" we rarely see.
true. but the grave-sexing was still kind of out there. i doubt Deadpool would have even done that.

I don't find any of it irreeddeemmaabblle. I consider all of that behavior at the most to be human. I know spidey doesnt yell at his girlfriend but I do know some real people that do. That part that bothered me the most was when he blew up on Abigal. Don't get me wrong, I would have done the same thing. And then felt bad about it, just like Eric did. But to me that seemed to be the most drama. Having sex on your best friends grave with his ex, totally forgivable. Watching girls in the shower, totally encouraged.

well, Peter yelled at her once but it's an incident that should best be forgotten or blamed on a skrull. :o

That may not mean death. Tigra got a bad rep from Civil War, after she infiltrated Cap's Secret Avengers - I remember reading somewhere that even Jarvis was badmouthing her. So the anti-reg side hates her for betraying them (conveniently ignoring that Cap had Hulkling use exactly the same tactics), and I gather a lot of people on the pro-reg side feel she's somehow dirtied herself by being a spy, as if trying to punch Cap's lights out is somehow morally superior to espionage as a means of ending a conflict. Anyway. I didn't find it at all surprising when she appeared in Mighty Avengers, purring all over Hank Pym - what with his own issues, and having staked essentially his entire sense of self-worth on the pro-reg movement (as explored in Avengers: The Initiative #2), Hank is probably one of the only friends she has left who aren't up on their high horse sneering at her as a 'traitor'. And she was favouring her animal side - she told him to call her Tigra, not Greer - which suggests she'd rather just forget her human interactions and be a carefree cat, also consistent with her having a tough time socially.
So that's my theory - I think Tigra could well be severely depressed right now, hence the 'poor, poor Tigra' line, and like as not things will get worse for her before they get better.
They better not be thinking of killing her, I'll tell you that much. Fur will fly if they do
i think she's going to be made an example of by Hood's crew. who better to kill than a cop who is also a superhero. he is already a cop-killer.
I am so sick of fanboys' mentality of "Woman Who Enjoys Sex= Slut/Whore"
It's like we are living in the dark ages or something...:evilangry
she's not a whore; just willing to stab her friends in the back and feign loyalty. it's not whorish; just not very heroic. and, at least, she chose a side. some characters are even more wishy washy.

true, she needs to learn from Eric O'Grady, now that's a heroic character, he won't do despicable stuff like making out with his deceased best friend's girlfriend on top of that best friend's grave.
I am so glad we'll get so many more years of O-Grady's solo adventures.
In this dark time of post-CW despair, it's good to see we still have superheroes that we can look up to.

that's why i love the character. and he doesn't need big boobs to be interesting.

i liked the story too. it was well-written. but i can't get behind a guy who beats up women just because he's aggravated. a
But you can get behind a guy who desecrates his alleged friend's memory by making out with that guy's Gf on top of his grave cuz she was hot...?
Odd...but to each their own.

if sales were the end-all/be-all Jessica Drew would still be in limbo while better/hotter spider-women flourished. i still can't believe they had Julia Carpenter change names. she was hot and interesting.

it didn't "tank." it was always set for 12 issues and saw consistent (if not jaw-dropping) sales. but for why the series stops after issue 12, i'd guess it's because not enough people bought it regularly. i've given out 5 copies of the digest, so far. and everyone i've given one to has enjoyed it.

good thing it's just a story and not a real person.
Irredeemable Ant-Man was great. Sure he's a ####-up, and does some pretty low-life stuff but I still had fun reading the series.
