Very silent beginning, and as for the final reveal in the preview... meh, I liked some of the other designs. THOSE looked awesome and fitting the grandeur and majesty...

Copiel's art continues to impress. Wow.

As for the design of the 'reveal', I have no problem with it. Didn't need to be made of gold and what not. That's got to be the most majestic thing around for hundreds of miles, given the location. ;)

Can't wait to see JMS run with this book. I know he definitely evokes strong opinions, usually. Mine are mostly positive... I enjoyed Sins Past and his Fantastic Four run as well... and his Squdron Supreme mini. I find him to be a very talented writer and this creative team has me excited for Thor's return!

I shudder to think of Coipel drawing Volstagg.

I'm not sure if there was a thread for this started, sorry. What is wrong with Coipel drawing Volstagg?

I put up a tread for it in the Avengers forum; and it's okay, the more Thor love the better :) All I can say is WOW, the art is blowing me away. That castle spread is my new desktop. A lot of people I know have complained that Thor's return is too quiet, too low key. I actually kinda like it; he's just here again, doing his own thing. He doesn't need to make a big deal out of his return. He's Thor, the world will notice him regardless of how he comes back.

Just to clarify, this is the second duplicate thread to do with Thor- there were also two Thor #1 threads. It's probably worth noting that Thor is an AVENGER, so threads about him go in the Avengers forum, people! Not trying to be critical or nit-picky, it just saves having duplicate threads.

Shouldn't the mods take care of duplicate threads or merge them or something?

So...does this mean that Thor is still in posession of the Odinforce? If so, the alarms are probably going crazy over at SHIELD.

I could just imagine Shield going to there highest alert status, if Thor has the Odinforce. But a part of me doesn't think that Thor has the odinforce. If Thor has the Odinforce then I will be proven wrong, when I think that he doesn't have it.

There's currently alot of things I want to see, some we probably will see. For me I want to see.

Thor kick the living hell out of Iron Man
Thor beat up hulk
Thor facing off against Loki again
Thor reviving Asgard
Thor never signing the stupid Registration act thingy
Thor reviving the Asgard Gods

My guess is that he does, but that he uses up most of it recreating Asgard (giant mythological cities aren't cheap), because if he does have the whole of the Odinforce, they'll be hardpressed to find any villains for him.

I figure the same too although he should be able to revive Odin and the rest of the Asgardians and still have enough to maybe be at a higher power level than his classic set which was pretty good anyway.

I don't think Thor has any of the Odinforce left; I believe it left him after Ragnarok ended. I don't think he has the rune power either. Thor was always a very power character, able to beat some of Marvel's best (Magneto, Silver Surfer, Gladiator, Hulk) and preform get feats of strenght and power. Looking at the pages, I think he used his teleportation powers to summon Asgard to the moral realm.

I do hope there is supposed to be some kind of dialog. What a cruddy setup for a book. A bunch of giant art panels. I continue not to be impressed. Takes 8 pages to show a city. ughh

In interviews, I believe JMS stated that he ended to keep Thor powered up a bit, rather than his classic power levels (which were still really high).

Well, obviously; it's an early preview (the earliest one); those never have dialogue.

He's summoning Asgard to Earth, a Herculean feat; if you want a sense of mythic wonder, that's how you do it, not a one-panel thing.

There's no Asgard to summon, as we saw in "Stormbreaker", it's totally gone. Thor just recreated it.

ah, but is he?

he's in a solo title at the mo' and has yet to appear in mighty or new avengers. i know he always was an avenger, but at the moment its not clear one way or the other

btw, i know u were only sayin he was an avenger to stop dupe threads, but jus though it brought up an interesting point. is thor an avenger?

Yeah, Asgard was totally gone. Plus, it was a gleaming city. This new one looks more like a traditional castle. Which is awesome.

I think it would be cool if they progressed this story as all part of Odin's grand scheme. Donald Blake was meant to come back after Thor was gone, and was given the little bit of power necessary to recreate Asgard and start things over.

I mean, the last 30 years of Comics has been but a blink in the eye of the Asgardian pantheon. If the Gods can come back, then so can the enemies of the Gods. Or, maybe they never went anywhere, and only Asgard disappeared.

Yes and as more Asgardians are revived, Asgard gets more and more magnificent, until we end up with its most distinctive feature, the fabled Rainbow Bridge!

The art is like watching an animated movie, so cool.

Being that I live in OKC... it's awesome that they're setting this new book here in Oklahoma. We're not quite the desolate wasteland some of you might make it out to be though. ;)

You know that would make for a pretty cool video game...think of it, your Thor and the object of the game is to rebuild Asgard...hell I feel like going to my nearest gamestop and reserving a copy of it right now.

As for Thor being a new or mighty avenger...thats a good question.. I'm going to go out on limb here and say eventually he'll become a Mighty Avenger despite the promised future fight with Iron Man, the Mighty Avengers could use him.

Well, the fabled Rainbow bridge will need exit and on ramps for the nearest interstate.

Will the Asgardians want cable or Dish?

Wait till the first calls for takeout from Asgard.

Take out? its Asgard, I'm sure they'll lease out space for resturants, and maybe a shopping mall complete with a food court, movie theatre, a Weapons R' Us, and a Valkyrie Secrets.
