Hey Augie,

Just wondering about the Asterix and Tintin collections you mentioned at the end of your Asterix review. I haven't heard anything about either of these previously.

I'm aware of "The Grand Collection" for Asterix (see the official Asterix blog for details - http://www.doubleclix-blog.com/) but hadn't heard of any slipcase editions.

And a quick search of the internets for info on updated Tintin editions hasn't yeilded anything.

Awh! Memories! I liked when tintin used the solar eclipse to make them think he controlled the sun LOL.

The TINTIN boxed set is in the latest edition of PREVIEWS. It's published by Little Brown and Company, runs $150.00. It's on page 321 of the catalog. All 24 books are presented in eight volumes in one box.

Herge really kicked himself for that. He didn't realise at the time that the sun-worshippers that he was writing about would have known the solar eclipse was coming.

Meanwhile, most outrageous Asterix character name for me today: Raucus Hallelujachorus, from ASTERIX IN SPAIN.

Ones that stick out in my mind are O'veromptimistix, Crismus Bonus and Timandahaf.

I went googling for a longer list of all of the names and found this list (http://ifarm.nl/asterix/names.html) which shows some of the more common names in various languages. It looks like the English and Americans have different names for some of the characters:
English(UK): Getafix Cacofonix Vitalstatistix
English(USA): Magigimmix Malacoustix Macroeconomix

English(UK): Geriatrix Fulliautomatix Unhygienix
English(USA): Arthritix Epidemix

English(UK): Impedimenta
English(USA): Belladona

What's that all about then?
