View Full Version : Is Batman #666 delayed because of Kubert or Morrison?

Is it Morrison with all the other writing duties he has? Or is it Kubert. If it's Kubert is it just because he's generally slow or because he has a lot of work on.

Or is it both?

Any ideas?

I think it's a pretty safe bet that it's Kubert. And yes, I think it's because he's "slow" (if by slow you mean slow getting his stuff in on time). I have no idea whether he's actually a slow artist or not. Some artists miss deadlines because they don't draw fast and others miss them because they're not disciplined enough to spend the needed hours actually working. Which it is in his case, I don't know. But I don't think it's because he has too much work. I mean, what else is he doing? (other than maybe a cover here or there)

I believe both he and his brother are instructors at their father's school.

Then they're setting a very bad example for new and upcoming artists.

Given that Kubert is already known to not be able to hold to a monthly schedule for very long, and that most of Morrison's work since the middle of '52' has also been behind schedule and likely cut into whatever leadtime was set up for Kubert, it's probably a combination of the two.

Thanks for the info there Jim, I was just curious really. I really hope that JH Williams III stays on after the next Morrisson arc although I suspect he's just there to give Kubert a bit of time to catch-up. It is odd that he's late really since, as you said, he hasn't done anything much other than cover work.

Oh great, so we can look forward to a new generation of artists who aren't able to draw a character consistently from one page to the next.

from what i understand the main fault is indeed kubert, however... morrison is bogged down with numerous projects, as well as his normal life so who knows, but likely from wat theyve told my retailer, its kubert... however from what i understand also... kubert will no longer be on the book as the permanent artist after the league of batman arc.. with jh williams III
to fix these slow and long drawn out arc problems due to the artist, much like action comics, there will be a new artist... from the rumors ive heard, its possible tony daniel or another artist and kubert will share duties...

I'm only guessing, but I suspect it's finally dawned on DC that Kubert's not quick enough (anymore) for a monthly so they might have him and Williams sharing the pencilling duties on alternate arcs. I could certainly live with that combination.
