Can someone explain the incentive covers for me?

I *think* it's an alternative cover (generally by a different artist) that retailers can get a copy of for every so-many of the regular cover book they order. So, the more copies they order, the more alternative covers they can get. Since they are produced in limited number, the retailers then typically sell them for more than cover price.

Personally, I would never pay extra money to get an "incentive" cover, no matter how much I liked the artist.

Somebody please correct me if I have anything wrong here.
