I just saw the previews for the full programming schedule for San Diego this year.

I'm not looking at that website again. It's too depressing. I really wish I could go. =(

An Alex Toth documentary? A Babylon 5 movie panel? Image Founders At 15? etc. etc. etc.

::sigh::

Yeah, isn't it ridiculous? It's a combination of things -- money, job, other vacation plans this year (read: my honeymoon). . . They all conspired against me. Plus, the complete pain in the arse it has become to book a trip to the convention is just annoying enough to put me off it sometimes.

I like to pretend it's the last bit that's the real reason I'm not going this year, just so I can be righteously indignant about the whole thing. But the truth is more like, "I just started a new job, can't afford to take time off, lost a whole month's worth of pay during unemployment, and spent the money for San Diego on the honeymoon, instead."

I'm still sad.

One of these days, one of these days...I'm going to make it to SDCC. Of course, I've been saying that for how long now? At the rate I'm going, I'm never going to make it. It's still fun for me to look over the programming and think of what I would try and do during the slog that is comic-con.

There does look to be tons of great panels this year. On the upside, I'm sure much of the convention will hit the internet almost as fast as it happens. Think of it not as you not attending but that you are going by proxy this year... :D

Still, it is too bad you won't be there. I enjoyed talking with you last year.

What about the Baltimore Comic-Con this year Augie? Not as grandiose as SDCC, but a few panels and lots of comics. Great guest list this year as well with Jim Lee, John Romita Sr, Joe Kubert, James Jean and some Don Rosa guy.

I think I am taking the train down again that Saturday from Metropark.

Augie - I bet you are even more disappointed about not attending SDCC now that Jonah has posted the bit about the CBR Boat Show!

You'll have to try and stow away on the boat while you're in San Diego!

Yeah, I knew about the boat. It saddens me deeply. There's a black hole where my heart used to be.

The defense mechanisms I'll be using in two weeks to try to pretend like I'm boycotting San Diego for some insane reason might be disturbing. I'm thinking of locking myself in a room for the weekend and letting someone slip gruel under the door three times a day for sustenance.

Yes... that's on the agenda! :p

Actually, I'm going to try and cover a few panels for Jonah while I'm down there. I will even have my wonderful girlfriend who has agreed to be my filthy assistant. :D

Does anyone know if the con center has wireless access? I'm gonna try to get myself hooked up if they do. :confused:

The con does have wireless, but they were charging a fairly steep premium for daily access to it, as I recall. There are hotels across the street where you can sit inside and get it for free, though. I think the Omni is included on that, just across the tracks from Hall G/H.

The Image Founders panel has been moved to Room 6A, which holds 1000 people.

::sigh::

I want to go look at Expedia now, book a ticket, and live on the streets for a couple of days. Hey, I couldn't smell too much worse than the typical Fanboy Funk around the Lucasarts Pavillion, could I?!?
