I dropped nightwing a couple years ago when it really started to suck -- Dick joins the mob was my last story -- and haven't picked it up since. What I read about the OYL jump didn't make me any more interested. The other day at the FLCS, though, I noticed that marv Wolfman was writing the book now. i love Wolfman. his run on Titans was one of my favorite comics runs ever, second only to Waid on the Flash. So, a couple questions:
1) What issue did Wolfman's run start with?
2) Is it good/worth reading?
3) Is the real Dick Grayson back in action?
Thanks in advance.
1) What issue did Wolfman's run start with?
125
2) Is it good/worth reading?
I just dropped it. Marv's a good writer, but I just found the book lackluster, boring and lacking drama. I just found it hard to care or get through the books.
However from what I've seen from the last issue it seems to have picked up a little in the dramatic department. But I think that I'll wait until this story arc is finished before I pick it up again.
3) Is the real Dick Grayson back in action?
If you mean is Dick Grayson back up again fighting. Well the answer would be yes. But I came to Nightwing through Chuck Dixon's NW run. And his NW to me always came across like a more cooler and confident version of Spiderman. I'm just not getting that feel in this book. We seem to be back to stories of Dick trying to figure out what he wants to do with his life and where he fits in. When all of this was covered with Dixon. It just seems like a pointless re-tread to me, and for me it makes Dick look un-sure and insecure, and that's a turn off for me.
So I'm waiting to see if the book improves. I don't know if Wolfman is on the book past his appointed 12 issues.

i like it and enjoy reading it and its got stable art for the first time in a long time. i think this book needed repairing after graysoins disasterous run on it.
i just hope they give marv a biot more time to wrap up this story and move onto something else. perhaps with a bit more drama.
it isn't as good as dixons run though

IGN called recent issues a MUST READ. MArv is really nailing it out of the park with his new arc. NW is once again back in top form and i'm rejoicing!:D

1) What issue did Wolfman's run start with?
What Mia said.
2) Is it good/worth reading?
I didn't care much for Marv's initial arc, but I enjoyed the second arc ("Bride and Groom") quite a bit. While I wouldn't go so far as to call it a "must read," and while I agree with Mia that Churck's stuff was generally better, this isn't bad. And it's probably the best the book has been since Chuck left it to go to CrossGen several years ago. It's too soon to comment on the third arc (which is in process), but I'm along for the ride for the time being.
3) Is the real Dick Grayson back in action?
If you're asking if Nightwing is Dick Grayson again as opposed to Jason Todd, the answer is "yes." (Not entirely sure what you're asking here)

I was referring to the high octane, confident adventurer we saw in Chuck Dixon's run, as opposed to the self loathing jerkwad we saw in Grayson's.

No one can do it better than the man who had him become his own man.

Okay, well then, as Mia said, this isn't as good as Dixon, but it ain't bad.

I don't know, it's one of the first things I read when I pick it up. I've always really liked Dick Grayson though and I'm thriled that Wolfman is on the book and repairing all of the nonsensical crap that happened since Chuck left the book. Marv does a good job of showing us just who Dick really is, while putting him into situations that show off his acrobatic/athletic skills. I don't mind Dick being a little unsure of himself these days, it's a natural reaction to the things that have happened in his life since Infinte Crisis. It's a solid read, and I can see any Nightwing fan enjoying Wolfman's run. I'd also like to see more people reading this so that Woflman can stay around. I think he's got a lot more to say about Dick that what can be done in 12 issues.

Wolfman’s run has been decent, but not outstanding. It has been much better than Jones’ run and the latter part of Devin’s run. The “Bride and Groom” arc started to lose me, but the new “321 Days” looks promising. Dick Grayson is definitely more confident and less angst-filled than he was portrayed in Devin’s run.

In terms of characterization, Marv has it nailed. Dick has never been better. I like how Marv has been remembering that Dick can be a good detective as well.
The book has been a little slow in terms of action though. While the villains have been interesting, I've never gotten the impression that there has been many high stakes in this book. The book needs a "bigger" story arc. (This current one may be it--I'm definitely interested so far)
The supporting cast I haven't really warmed up to either.
Still, this is the best Nightwing has been in years.

Just read the most recent issue and I'm definitely liking this storyline.
