View Full Version : My 80s Cartoon Villain Hall Of Fame

This is no list. I'm going to put up all of the 80s cartoon villains that I believe deserve to be in the 80s Cartoon Villain Hall Of Fame.
Suggestions are fine. Just don't officially add anyone.

Megatron
http://graysmatter.codivation.com/content/binary/megatron.jpg
Notorious leader of the Decepticons, Megatron was one of the most evil, cunning, and powerful villains in an 80s cartoon. Representing all that is evil, Megatron would shoot his enemies on screen, many dying. Also, his vicious battles with Optimus Prime are legendary.
This guy is so bad that he is the main villain in the new movie "Transformers", taking his rightful place as Optimus Prime's greatest enemy.

Totally agreed; I'd also suggest Destro and the Baroness in order to give us an "Axis of Evil" from the 80s GI JOE cartoon.

I'd say Raoh from Fist of the North Star. His brother Kaio is more evil, but Raoh is definitely the best

claw from inspector gadget,

I never would have thought of him. but does he really count? He gotten beaten by a 8? year old girl again and again. Even Cobra Commander wasn't that inept.

Cobra Commander
http://www.catskillcomics.com/davidbeck/CobraCommander2.JPG
Cunning, evil, and one heck of a public speaker, Cobra Commander was pretty much as bad as a normal person could be. While not the smartest bulb technology wise, he's pretty good at getting things to go his way.
Almost ruled the world five times(even got a country once), this guy's very underrated.

Shredder
http://members.fortunecity.com/zobovor/shredder_lego_cartoon.gif
Oh, come on! This guy was the shiz! He made the TMNT Turtle soup whenever he fought. He even made Kraine think twice before messing with him! Skilled, evil, and cunning, this guy was the way bad guys should be. Well, besides the stupid henchmen.

Who did Serpentor kill? I remember him wounding Duke in that awful movie that introduced Cobra-La, but since Duke lived it doesn't count as a kill.

Serpentor was trash, anyway. Even though Cobra Commander was a bit lame, that's why we loved him. I think killing innocent people would make him less cutsy wootsy.

Anyway, I nominate...

King Koopa, from the Super Mario Bros. Super Show.
Magica DeSpell, from Ducktales (there needs to be some female energy in the Hall of Fame)
Skeletor's a given.
And lastly, Red Herring from A Pup Named Scooby Doo. 'Cuz he was awesome.

It's been a while, but I've decided to continue this thread.
Oh, and NO ONE CAN PUT VILLAINS ON HERE BUT ME PLEASE.

Starscream
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/8/85/Starscream.jpg

If there is any villain that made his impression in the 1980s, it's Starscream. This treacherous Decepticon looked for any chance he got to overthrow his leader Megatron, and has succeeded numerous times. From going toe to toe with Optimus Prime to creating the terrifying Bruticus, Starscream deserves as much credit as his master Megatron.

Toku King
03-28-2008, 07:06 AM
King Zarkon
http://www.cheezey.org/voltron/pics/zarkon/imposingzarkon.jpg

One of the most vile and bloodthirsty villains of 80s television, Zarkon was the dangerous archenemy of Voltron, defender of the universe. Taking the universe by storm, Zarkon and his forces created hell across the cosmos, and were willing to do anything to take over. Unleashing legions of powerful Robeasts and jet fighters to planets far and wide, Zarkon was one hell of an opponent, and could only be stopped by the likes of Voltron.

Toku King
03-28-2008, 07:12 AM
Skeletor
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/8/8a/Skeletor-spoo.jpg

Skeletor is an essence of what makes a villain a villain. Evil, merciless, violent, powerful, and terrifying. And when I mean terrifying, look at his head! Who wouldn't piss themselves seeing that? But yeah, Skeletor was one of the most popular villains in 80s cartoons, and still is. You just don't get any meaner than a pissed off sorceror with a skull for a head.
But let's not mention him saving children at Christmas, shall we?

Toku King
03-28-2008, 07:15 AM
Krang
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/7/7c/Krang.gif

For as bad as Shredder was, he was merely a pawn in a larger game. The pieces were moved by none other than Dimension X's Krang, a disgusting brain monster that was essentially the main threat of the Ninja Turtles. From his disturbing looks to his odd yet appealing voice, Krang is a prime example of what made the show so unique.

Toku King
03-28-2008, 07:19 AM
Gargamel
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/d/da/Gargamel_and_Azrael_from_the_Smurfs.jpg

Poor Smurfs. While all the other cute cartoons of the 80s had incompetent and merely bullying enemies, Gargamel was straight up nasty. We actually aren't sure what he wanted to do with the Smurfs, though. First he wanted to eat them, and then turn them into gold. But while his intentions are mashed, whatever he was going to do would essentially kill the Smurfs, which is obviously evil.

Toku King
03-28-2008, 07:26 AM
Nemesis
*No Picture Found*

While Gargamel was the main enemy to the Smurfs, Nemesis was much more dangerous. Far more powerful, vicious, and cunning than the petty sorcerer, Nemesis tried to steal the essence of good itself, and nearly succeeded. Even Gargamel tried to stop him! It's badguys like this that make you think "Well, it could be worse".

Yes, because it's MY list. People can give me possible hall-of-famers if they like, but most of the picks done by people here tend to not deserve that much credit(look at earlier in the thread), and many don't even follow the rules(80s CARTOON villains).

So I'd appreciate if you stopped being so darn rude and just leave the thread if you're so miffed.

Real good cartoon villains were:

Megatron
Starscream
Cobra Commander
Skeletor
Miles Mayhem

As for Starscream and Cobro Commander, R.I.P. Chris Latta. He really breathed live into those 2 characters.

Destro
http://joeguide.com/pm/cels/images/destro01-large.jpg

In GI Joe, we had Cobra Commander, Serpentor, and even Cobra-La. But there are certain characters that made the teams memorable. One of these was the mysterious and business based Destro. This metal clad salesman looked and sounded just like a big time badguy, but with a different purpose. But whatever that purpose is(in this case money), Destro's hardcore ttitude and slew of badass moments make him perfect for this list.

Mumm-Ra
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/1/15/Thundercats2.jpg
If Skeletor is the perfect example of a villain, then Mumm-Ra is an overachiever. If there was any foul, zombie like enemy that deserves credit, it's this guy. From the ever popular transformation sequence to actually raiding the Thundercats hideout, Mumm-Ra was the ultimate threat to one of the 80's best superhero teams.

Dark Heart, sure. Guy had charisma, and enough intelligence to have backup plans and set functional traps for the heroes.
No Heart, though? Aside from looking menacing, I don't remember him ever accomplishing much.

Unicron
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/6a/Unicron_DKUG.jpg
"I am Unicron." This planet sized, merciless, amazingly voiced Transformer is easily one of the single most intimidating opponents from the 80s. Megatron had many close attempts to conquering earth and Cybertron over two to three years, while Unicron had one shot at destroying both worlds, and came closer than Megatron or any other Transformers villain ever did.

May I make a nomination?

Samhain from The Real Ghostbusters, the Living Spirit of Halloween. Cool concept, expertly handled. The RGB didn't have many recurring villains(although the Staypuft Marshmallow Man appeared once or twice), but Samhain was memorable. I also enjoyed the Headless Biker(a modern day Horseman who terrorized the descendants of Ichabod Crane), and the Night Game ep(where the forces of good and evil played baseball, with the stakes being a human soul).

And the Shredder from TMNT was a badass guy i loved it when he occasionaly resorted to fisticuffs and beat the collective turtles Raph, Leo. Mike and Don's Asses all at once.

Pity the show got more and more kiddy friendly as it continued the old Leo throwing a sword at a washing line to ensnare foot soldiers bit wore thin fast.:frown:
