Has anyone got any idea who the guy in the top center with the nosebleed is?

Sorry if it's been mentioned, but I tried digging through Booster-related threads and I couldn't find it.

Maxwell Lord. The one character that was screwed over the most in the build up to Infinite Crisis. He was a big player in the Giffen/ Demaittes Justice League.

That's Maxwell Lord. He used to get nosebleeds when he used his telepathic powers to control people's minds. He used to be a sort of ally to Booster Gold and the Justice League International but became a bad guy during Infinite Crisis when Superboy-Prime hit a wall and screwed up continuity.

Cool and hey, since you didn't know who Maxwell Lord is, let me just HIGHLY recommend Giffen/ Demaittes run on the Justice League, which easily ranks among my favourite comics ever. Great stories, great characters and it's really funny too.

Why is Jonah Hex on that cover?

Apparently, Booster's going to be doing a bit of time travelling in the new series. I'm assuming he'll be visiting Hex and the Wild West at some point.

Here's a nice little Wizard article on the cover: http://www.wizarduniverse.com/magazine/wizard/004781651.cfm

I was wondering when someone was gonna' mention Michelle. Lookin' to be an interesting series.

Still, I think my Lost in Time idea would've kicked ass.

He created Booster Gold, why would you want him off the character?

Cool and hey, since you didn't know who Maxwell Lord is

i assume he knew who maxwell lord was, just didnt recognize the picture, hence him saying "i should've known who it was"

speaking of which, i have no knowledge of maxwell lord prior to infinite crisis so i just assumed that he was always a bad guy. i didnt know he used to be an ok guy

This is a intresting concept one of my own personal ideas was for a character who basically travels through time like Doctor Who and meets these peoples. So far Marvel's Exiles came close to this but this seems intresting enough to hold my attention.

Also...I did'nt actually know The Monarch was a Atom bad guy so thanks for that wizard article!

I wouldn't say he was an okay guy, but he certainly wasn't evil.

...he shot Blue Beetle in the head, turned Superman into a living weapon and taunted Wonder Woman into killing him. Evil springs to mind.

He means before this though - before Infinite Crisis and Countdown to Infinite Crisis. The character was changed to be evil in order to build up storylines for Infinite Crisis.

This Booster Gold series sounds interesting. Good excuse to go back and use characters that can't be used in the current DCU. I'm looking forward to seeing Barbara Gordon as Batgirl

The important thing about Maxwell Lord isn't that he went from being a good guy to a bad guy but that he went from an interesting, multi-layered character to a third-rate Lex Luthor knock off.

Oh and that bit where Lord mentions that the Giffen/ Demaittes-era league was simply his attempt to keep the League ineffectual felt like both a slap in the face to fans of that League but doesn't fit AT ALL with how the character acted back then. It's clear that the character was completely reshaped just to act as a plot device to get those various story strands started - the writers and editors admitted as much as far as I recall.

Yeah, as evidenced in the cyborg/not a cyborg thing.

Yup....I think it is the second issue, he goes back in time to meet with Sinestro before he goes bad.

Like Paul said, and as the person I responded to was talking about, I meant that when Maxwell Lord was the "manager" of the Justice League, while he wasn't evil, he certainly wasn't an okay guy. Booster Gold, at his greediest and most selfish, was more of an okay guy than Max Lord.

Ninety percent of the stuff we've seen over the past few years has been a slap in the face to fans of the Giffen/DeMatteis League.

Thank goodness for Gail Simone then. Ice is back! Also, hey, a Booster Gold book so it's not all bad.

And that's exactly why I decided to collect the whole Giffen/DeMatteis Leagues and buy less actual comics that despict them (I already got about 50% of JLI,JLE,JLA,JLQ)

Maxwell Lord was never evil , over the years , he came to be the Martian manhunter best friend in that league.
Sadly as mentioned , DCU really screwed over the giffen/dematties JLI.
