View Full Version : Spidercide... The greatest Clone ever.

Let's face it, he had Spidey's powers and could expand in size. I really liked his costume and thought Howard Mackie (probably my favourite Spidey writer btw) did an excellent job of him.

Would you like to see him come back?

How?

Why?

He was goo! He should return RIGHT NOW!

My assumption is that Jackal cloned Spidercide shortly before he died, so there's one out there with all the memories of the original.

When he returns he can again menace Spidey and the New Warriors once again. Perhaps in a Mackie-penned miniseries.

I wouldn't say he's Spidey's greatest foe, as others have more history, but he certainly has the potential to be in the able hands of Mackie and an artist like, say, Deodato. Y'know somebody who really "gets" Spidey

The only way I'd like to see him back is if Marvel were to redo the Clone Saga as a 24 issue mini series by a creative team with modern sensibilities with a definitive beginning, middle and end. After its completion, elements from the clone saga (Kaine, Traveller, Scrier, etc) might start showing up again in the Spider-Man books.

Unless something like that's done, Spidercide shouldn't return and events in the clone saga shouldn't be referenced.

I'd like to see him back without real mention of the clone saga. Spiderman needs more recurring villains than the big ones.

That's what I think. Spider-Man has far less major villains than any other character.

I mean, really, how many Spider-Man villains can you name off the top of your head. 5? 6?

I know your joking, Spider-Man is second only to Batman for rogues.

Electro
Shocker
Lizard
Doc Odck
Hobgoblin
Green Goblin
Sandman
Venom
Chameleon
Manwolf
Mysterio.,...........and on, and on, and on.

I guess your right. I'd forgotten a few awesome ones. There's Tarantula, Tombstone, Carnage, Demogoblin...

I'll rescind my comment

Spidercide... my god that is one of the worst villain names ever. He should come back cannon folder for the Punisher for daring to choose that name for himself.

You just don't understand. See, the suffix -cide denotes an act related to killing.

So by calling himself Spidercide, he was saying that he'd be the foe to kill Spider-Man. So really, it's the best name ever, even if it went over some people's heads

Oh, I got the suffix. It didn't change the fact that he sounded like some sort of fruit beverage.

...possibly a vodka shooter of some kind.

Spidercide was the coolest thing to come out of the clone saga.

He had crazy shapeshifting powers of Carnage-like proportions, plus looks eerily similar to Deadpool.

I'd love to see him back; he was super-underused.

And Black Tarantula. He should come back.

Chris Nowlin

Black Tarantuala is awesome.

As is the other Tarantula.

Wish we could see more of both!

Black Tarantula was all sorts of bad and now... he got shiv'd in prison in Daredevil. What as waste.

Spidercide was one of the best characters that came out from the Clone Saga. I'm still waiting for the day when he'll finally return. Long Live The Spidercide!!! This has got me wanting to read my old Clone Saga comics now.

I thought he had a healing factor?

I mean, at least, he could heal other people (I'm pretty sure he fixed a broken neck) and was relatively unhurt by Spidey.

Well that's what I thought but if your read Ed Brubaker's first Daredevil arc there's a character called Black Tarntula in jail there. Can't remember the exact details of the guys powers though.

Interestingly enough, with Delilah making an appearance in Loners recently I feel there's a demand for some of the villains introduced during the Clone Saga and some of Ben Reilly's villains to make a comeback.

Mikl C

There's just a demand for Delilah.
Although they seem to VASTLY underpower them in other books. Like enemy of the state. WHATEVERRR.

Seriously Marvel got rid of a lot of the Spider-man rogues: Spidercide, Kaine, Original Hobgoblin, Cardiac.

Instead we get Hobgoblin from the future, terrible Others.

Come on Marvel, bring back classic 90's villains.

You just named three terrible villains and one good one. And the good one is still out there, just retired.

I loved all of them!!!! :evilangry

instead we get Vulture, Dr. Ock, Norman.

Marvel keeps recycling the same villians, and they get worse. Great example: Dr Ock. He was awesome in the late 80's/ early 90's, but man is he terrible the past 10 years. Is he trying to look like the Matrix, is he short fat with a bowl cut or tall muscular?????

Create new villains or bring back villains and make them deadly, like what Johns did in Flash.

I'd agree with you that Hobgoblin is terrible, and I don't like Kaine and Cardiac, but they're not terrible.

We're on the same page about Spidercide though. He's the greatest. But he's actually "supposedly" dead, now. Not retired.

I was glad they brought Norman back at least. Books are better with him.

I never much cared for Doc Ock ever actually.

Exactly. Or like Meltzer did with Dr. Light. Make the villains cool. Hell, Johns should just write Spider-Man. He'd do an excellent job.
