I still miss Steve Rogers. I never knew how much effect comic books had on me until Cap died. I can barely read Marvel these days because of it. The MU feels incomplete to me. It just looks wrong. I cringe when I see people like Ms. Marvel and... ugh, Gauntlet and the Intiative saying "Avenger's Assemble". I know I'm overreacting and stuff, but it sucks. It really does suck because I've been (used to be) one of those avid "DEAD MEANS DEAD" people (besides Jean, cause the point of the Phoenix is resurrection) for so long, until now.

Frankliy, I want Steve back. I don't know when, or how, but it's been very difficult reading Marvel these days without him, or Nick Fury for that matter. Too much Tony Starks and MA, and I don't like them being the representatives of the Marvel Universe (or at least Marvel Earth). He died in such a sour note that doesn't fit his glorious legacy.

The one thing that truly defines the superheroics genre is escapism. When he was humiliated and killed, I almost completely lost that feeling. Reviving Steve will probably not happen, and will be heavily resisted, but I really missed that sense of escapism. I miss seeing Steve with the rest of the superheroes, acting as leader. I miss that one hero that I could look up to more than any other.

Many people share that feeling with other heroes like Spider-Man, and would literally boycott if he had died "permenently", but all I can do is sulk about this loss.

I just bought a Captain America shirt specifically to wear for today. It's black and it just has his shield on the front.

I know it makes me a ridiculous fanboy but I think it's important to honor his memory today. I poured one out for Banshee on the St. Patrick's day after he died. Maybe today I will paint the Red Skull's face on one of the watermelons we blow up.

I think this is adorable!

I have a Captain America T-shirt and have had for some time!

Well to be precise it's a Captain America's T-shirt but the point is it has a giant Cap shield in the middle and the Captain America logo. As obtained from the "Captain America's Restaurant" in Dublin! The apostrophe and s are a small price to pay :D

Cap died to be brought back. No two ways about, he is too important to be kept in the ground. I think his rebirth will herald an end to all the hate and negativity Marvel Earth is going through right now; when he returns I think heroes will once again come together and the real healing process can begin. It will of course be a cross-over.

I feel exactly the same way you do. Maybe one day marvel will have a real hero again.

Yes because Stever Rogers is Marvel's only real hero. Talk about dramatic...

Thanks for that, though I would change "real" to "true", but that's just me.

True, but I was only helping out his statement. There are plenty of great heroes in Marvel (like Thing), but they are overshadowed by the less than great ones.....

I did sound absolute, I am thankful for Nova.

That's what makes everything so interesting. As for Steve's death, I think it's great. It's a huge opportunity to tell stories that really wouldn't be possible with the death of any other character. His death could potentially be more powerful and influential than his life ever was.

I've worn a black wristband with Cap's shield on it every day since he died. He's my favorite fictional character in many ways, and I continue to love his stories and ideals. Long live Captain America, long live the Constitution, and f*** tyranny.

I'm wearing my "He's the People's choice, Captain America for President" shirt right now, actually. I also agree with Kid Kamikaze10's first post regarding the death of Captain America.

Okay I'm about to head out to the party and I thought I would post a quick pic before leaving.

I just want to say that being an anarchist from the bay area, if it weren't for Captain America I would have no patriotism at all.

Happy 4th everyone.

(I don't know what will happen if someone at the party has an Iron Man shirt on. I might have to poke them with my sparkler. he he)

It is a challenge to see the MU, post-Steve Rogers, with Iron Man in charge, if you call it that. The vacuum that was Captain America's influence, is being filled by autocrats and business men and not real solitary heros, like Cap used to be. There were no outside influences with Cap. You weren't suspicious of his motives by him being tied to Stark Industries or running Shield, or being a part of the 100 plan commitee of SH's like Tony, Reed, and Hank.

Now, we have vested interests as our heros. Doesn't have the same taste in the mouth, though. This is what people are saying makes the MU more interesting, because the heroism we took for granted was missing? The MA and NA are just a shadow of their glory days. The Hulk is an illegal Alien. The Inhumans are at war with earth. Namor is worried the surface men will attack him. Doom seems to sit there laughing, not really deeming to involve himself into prying into the FF's woes. Does Spiderman even do anything anymore?

The real interest in the MU revolves around things like the Avengers : Initiative, Loners, TBolts, Omega Flight, which are new, and vibrant. The residue heros, of the previous MU, is stale and unrecognisable.

The absence of Cap in this crazy Initiative world, makes the remaining heros seem low-grade. Now, we look up to Tony, the Director of Shield, and the Initiative brigade, for the inspirations that Cap used to unconsciously provide. And not just Cap either. But when Cap was around, the MU was a different place to be in. Now it's a shadowy, unfullfilling, Sin City.
