has anyone seen the art for Fallen Son: Iron Man yet? i am glad they are taking Cap's death seriously and paying him tribute. the Associated Press even covered it. Marvel made a big move killing Cap, especially after he was a true symbol for freedom during Civil War. I hope Jeph Loeb does a good job when he lays Cap to rest, as Cap is one of my favorite Marvel heroes. i love that marvel made him relevant again for Civil War and drove that home with Cap's death. Loeb said soem stuff in an interview that really drives home how seriously Marvel is taking this. check it out.

I am confused as to why Iron Man, Ms. Marvel, Black Panther, and the Thing are carrying the casket.

Cap should have died as the end to Civil War. What a cop out. Shot by some jackass? Come on he should have died at the hand of Iron Man. What a waste.

I presume they were the registered heroes who were closest to Cap. I'm not sure, but it looks like Falcon and some other guy are carrying it, too.
I'm really looking forward to this. I think it'll be very good. I'm glad we finally got some previews of the art, because without them, I was worried it would be delayed.

Did she really? Since it was Dr Faust who triggered her couldn’t he just had put in those memories of her shooting Cap during their sessions? Because you know, The Red Skull and his gang is not the most reliable source of information.

Except we saw her shoot Cap first hand. Not a flashback, not an imaginary dream sequence! Besides, Faustus once brainwashed her to commit suicide. Except she didn't. Or something. They never really did convincing explain why she wasn't dead.

If Iron Man had killed Cap it would not only have been the complete OPPOSITE of the story being told (That it was CAP who was getting out of control) and wildly out of character, but it would have stained the character so badly he could never be "redeemed" in the eyes of many fans. Beyond that....
The choices for Pallbearers make sense. Obviously all of them were his friends (perhaps Ben less so?) but they also serve ceremonial functions as is usual at these things.
Falcon- Cap's Friend
Rick Jones- Cap's Friend
Ben Grimm- Former Air Force Pilot
Ms Marvel- Former Air Force Pilot AND Avengers Leader
Iron Man- Avenger AND Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Black Panther- Former Avenger and represenative of other nations.
So other countries, the United Nations, the Avengers and the military are all represented as well as them ALL being Cap's friends as well. In fact... was Wakanda in the Allies in Marvel WW2? I'm curious as to whether the Panther could also represent the Allied Nations.
I think they just had to make due with the people that Iron Man isn’t currently trying to arrest. I mean Rick Jones and Sam make sense but if you were filling the other slots with anyone you could you’d probably do
Bucky – first partner
Nick Fury – known since WW2
Namor – known since WW2
Clint Barton – almost as close a friend as Tony was and no recent bad feelings between them
If they weren't (presumed) dead the following could fill spots too
Thor
Original Torch
Nomad
Arnie Roth
Of course when he was killed back in v1 when the SSS ran out the pallbearers included
The Thing
Quicksilver
Black Widow
Cyclops
Bill Clinton
So maybe they just get picked by throwing darts at a wall of pictures

I don't think there is any possible combination of pallbearers you could pick, at basically any time period, which does not include Tony Stark. Even if fans hate him far beyond anything he has done, he's still one of Cap's best friends and it's DEFINITELY right that he be a pallbearer- same with Rick and Falcon, obviously. THe rest are more up for debate.
I wonder if Namor even bothers showing up.

I know my friends are always precipitating my death and trampling everything I stand for.

The fake body is buried in Arlington, in front of the big memorial.
The pallbearers were pretty good, although the Thing seemed a bit random.

Tony Stark should not have been one of the pallbearers...He is part of the reason why Cap got killed!
No one that really deserved to be Cap's paulbearer could have attended the funeral without SHIELD attacking them, so there you go.

I agree. I understand that the rest of them were teammates, but why Ben Grimm? Was he a special partner of Cap's during some event?
