When you think of Marvel Comics, what are the greatest moments you can think of? What are the stories and pages that stick out in your mind as absolutely classic, and hallmark Marvel moments?
This is a thread to discuss and share our favorite moments in any Marvel comic book. Share the Title, Issue # (if you have it), the moment in question and even a scan if you wish.
Just to give a few examples of what I mean (using a few of my favorite moments):
"The coming of galactus"- Fantastic Four #48-50: Galactus and Silver Surfers first appearance, the moment when Galactus reveals himself for the first time.
-or-
"No More Mutants"- House of M #8: Scarlet Witch kills the mutant gene and depowers 99% of Earths mutants with three little words "No more mutants"
See what I mean? So what are your votes for all-time greatest/favorite Marvel moment?

The birth of characters is are obvious classic Marvel moments. And, of course, I'm going to say the births/first apperances of my favourite characters: Carnage, Nightcrawler, Marrow, Arcade, Jester, Hybrid, Venom, Toxin, Ultron...
...actually, Ultron's a good one. I want a figure of the first Ultron when Hank Pym first made him :D

Of the options listed, I'd pick the Coming of Galactus. A god was going to eat Earth, and it was up to the FF to save us all... This epic had a pervading of feeling of suspense, since neither Ben's brawn nor even Reed's brain could figure out a way to win. At one point they even seemed resigned to their fate, which was to fight to the death (Reed agreed with Ben). Luckily, the Watcher broke his Watcher vows for the first of 879 times. I used the 60s FF cartoon of this event from youtube with a sixth grade class lesson on note-taking; students had to note how each character does his/her part in defeating Galactus. In the cartoon, Sue (instead of Alicia) is the one who befriends and influences the Surfer.
One of my favorites not listed is the Avengers/Warlock war vs. Thanos (Avengers Annual 7, Marvel Two-in-One Annual 2). This was a Starlin masterpiece, with the same do-or-die intensity as above, only characters really were dying. At the time, the only other major "space war" had been the longer Kree-Skrull, but this two-parter was tight -- more concise and cogent. It should be reprinted together; it would make a great stand-alone trade or hardcover classic!

So far I'm the only one for Secret Wars? Come on its like Infinity Gauntlet and the Coming of Galactus put together.
That list is really poor imo, you neglected all the other characters minus x-men really. Birth of characters should definatley be on there as well as actual events not like "the death of captain america"

Civil War because it actually had all of the heroes fighting against each other. The death of Cap was the most shocking.

Very incomplete list and it needs an other category as there is only one on that list I'd put in my top 10 and that is Giant Size X-men #1 because it was the beginning of the X-men's rise to the top of the comic book food chain where it stayed for well over 20 years and influenced everything that happened in the Marvel Universe, what books were put out, who got to co-star with Wolverine next, etc, etc. Everything else on that list is pretty insignificant in terms of how it affected the Marvel Universe (Coming of Galactus, Secret Wars) or far too new to know if it will matter long term (Civil War, World War Hulk - personally I think both will matter in five years about as much as Atlantis Attacks matters to current MU).
My personal greatest event in Marvel Comics history is Amazing Fantasy #15. Had that issue not happened there would be no Marvel Universe today. Spiderman is the Marvel Universe. I'd put Spidey as the #2 most iconic comic book figure in the world behind only Superman and slightly ahead of Batman. No other Marvel character even comes close. If not for the creation of Spiderman I'd bet that Marvel would be nothing like it is now. He is the their flagship. While other books or groups, for instance the X-men as I mentioned above, might surpass him at times in terms of sales its Spiderman that rules the non comic book fan world and also rules the box office since Spidey has the three top grossing comic book movies of all time.

Please understand, the options I listed on the Poll are NOT what this thread is about, and I'm not saying those are the only one's you can choose from. But the Poll is limited to 10 options so I just put a bunch of what i thought were classic moments in Marvel history, I tried to get one from every era
Please, everyone feel free to put whatever you think is the greatest marvel moment, no matter what moment it is or what comic it's from. Do a google or yahoo image search and you'll probably be able to find a cover or inside page scan to post if you wish
But yeah the list on my poll arent the only options here. They're more examples than anything

In terms of COMIC event, "Civil War" by a country mile. In terms of moments, for sheer impact on me as a reader... umm, Civil War by a little though I am a colossal fan of the Trial of Reed Richards, the origin of Magneto and the Coming of Galactus.
When I think of powerful marvel moments, only a very few stick out in my mind. Two of them are from Civil War- Iron Man smashing Cap in the face from CW3 and the two of them bitterly divided with their old sillhouettes looming in the backdrop at the end of "Casualties of War".
But who can forget the thrill of the Surfer defying Galactus? Or of watching as Magneto grows from 2-d ranting villain to one of the deepest characters in comicdom?
There's too many to count, I think.

Why isn't "Other" an option?
I'd go with "Daredevil: Born Again"
Citizen V

I went with Secret Wars,i would say the Comming Of Galactus was before modern Marvel. With SW being the first real Universe wide event,as for Civil War..no.

My biased list (based on events that I found "cool" growing up):
Mutant Massacre -- took X-men into a much darker, grittier direction in the late '80s
Secret War - the most ambitious crossover at the time, and ultimately led to the introduction of Venom
The 1st Wolverine Limited Series -- only, I believe Marvel's 2nd "limited" series, and really the beginning of Wolverine really taking off
Magneto pulling the adamantium out of Wolverine in X-Men #25, which not only changed the X-men dramatically (Xavier making Mags comatose, bone claws on Wolverine, Onslaught, Heroes Reborn, Heroes Return, etc., all stemmed from this)

That list is really poor imo, you neglected all the other characters minus x-men really.i dont think Infinity Gauntlet, Secret Wars , coming of galactus or civil war were strictly mutant crossovers...but the X-men are marvels biggest overall franchise, and they have a few huge moments in the history of their own mythos, which influences the entire marvel U
In retrospect, I shoud've added Amazing Fantasy #15 and House of M, but you can't edit polls once theyre posted :(
Again, be aware the poll is somewhat separate from the thread topic, they're more examples than anything...

The first Thor vs Destroyer fight by Kirby.
ASM #33 where Spidey lifts off the massive weight to get to Aunt May.
The Clone Saga
Red Sonja, where she is tied up and ready to hang. She was courageous and abusive to the end, (though she was rescued at the last minute)
(Too bad it's not DC too, but the whole Death of Superman thing was awesome, and so was Infinate crisis)
But my all-time fav is Civil War
Followed by WWH for sheer brutal Civil War conflict. Good guy vs good guy.
