Anyone read Mouse Guard? I saw a nice hardcover at the store and see where a new mini is coming out. I have heard some good reviews about the first one and thought about checking it out. Thanks for any opinions

Absolutely beautiful book in every way.

Could not recommend anything more.

i was interested, it looked cool to me, but too xpensive for my monthly comic budget.

I picked up the hard cover after missing the series. Honestly, it was pretty, but the story read rather quickly. Not the best fantasy comic series ever, but it's good enough, and it's great that an independent title is getting some serious critical acclaim.

I'll be checking out the follow up series when it hits hardcover, I'm sure I'll be following the series that way from now on. Because it sure is a nice hard cover package, but I can't bring myself to double dip on this series.

Not a deep read, but a nice, well-drawn story. Not a classic fable, but worth checking out. Peterson has developed a rich fantasy world; I hope he keeps it up.

My one complaint would be that the issues were very fast reads, but it was so good looking and fun that it's a pretty minor complaint.

Super Recommended.

I loved the format, the character designs and the setting.

I'm going to keep following the series in trades, it seems to read better that way.

It could have been terrible, and I'd still recommend it because the hardcover is such a beautiful package.
But it's not, it's pretty good. The story is slim, but the art more than makes up for it.

I really want to check this out...they need to release it in paperback of some sort. $25 for that quick of a read is too much.

Good news - it'll be out in paperback early this coming year. It's being released by an off-shoot of Random House. Keep an eye out!

And if you just want to check it out, 335 libraries around the US have it on their shelves. Not to mention they'll ship it to any other library that asks on behalf of a patron.

Whaddaya mean not very deep, it's not complicated yet but that's about it, seems to me it's barely started, so I've no idea where it'll end up. Obviously I like it, one of the best books on the stands for me, since there're so many references I'd point out The Hobbit started out as more of a light tale too, though I've never seen any fantasy come close to Tolkien (first two Dragonlance trilogies fantastic but different entirely) and don't expect this to.
Ahh, stayed in tonight (oh dear), in UK it's new year so Happy New Year!!
