Stating the obvious, the Giffen/DeMatties Justice League.
I'd also put the brilliantly underrated Mahnke Major Bummer up there as one damn hilarious run of comics. If you can find them, I happened to enjoy the crossover of all crossovers; yes, I'm talking Looney Tunes/Justice League. Its silly and a fun all ages read.

Oh, but you can't beat..pound for pound, WORLD'S FUNNIEST

I liked the issue of the previous Johns JSA series that involved the JSA and the JLA trying to have Thanksgiving dinner, in which Mr. Terrific spent most of the issue trying to get Batman to not be so paranoid (which, it inevitably turned out, he was right to be).

Yeah, all of Young Justice. Definitely.

Impulse #50 (team-up with Batman).

Justice League Quarterly #... uh, 3 or 4. The one with Guy Gardner about to be eaten by a giant monster Ice. The main story was no great shakes, but the Injustice League backup was the funniest story I had ever read in my young life. Still holds up.

Young Justice is the most consistantly amusing comic I ever read. The "silent" issue where Impulse is trying to find someone to hang out with was one of the funniest stories i've ever read

Man, I miss Bart.

Even better was the issue of DC Comics Presents where Superman accidentally brought Ambush Bug to the 30th century and had to get help from the Subs to hunt him down.

I'm with you on that one. It may be the funniest comic book I have ever read.

Also, props to Grazzt on identifying that Martian Manhunter issue. When I saw the thread topic, it was the second comic book that popped into my head. John Ostrander's secret JLI story was perfect. Mahnke's art was a homerun.

I'd also like to put that Morrison Doom Patrol issue out there in which Cliff Steele faced The Brain and Monsieur Mallah as a disembodied brain himself, completely unable to even see what was going on for the entire issue. Whenever I want to crack up any of my buddies from back in the day, I just turn around and say to them "Kiss me, Mallah."

The entire run of Young Justice was a riot. So was Giffen and DeMatteis' Justice League. And Impulse, even after Waid left, was always a comedy book- I don't care what Mark says. He didn't lose his sense of humor until that crapfest Graduation Day.

Also, the last issue of Blue Beetle was hilarious, especially when Eclipso tried to take over Jaime. And Gail's All-New Atom has been hysterical from the start.

How about "World's Funnest" by Evan Dorkin with art by everybody and their uncle? Mxyzptlk and Bat-Mite destroy the multiverse together. Lampooned everything from Captain Carrot and Shazam to Dark Knight and Kingdom Come.

Speaking of Mxy, I enjoyed his appearance in Superman, pre-IC, where he showed Clark and Lois what it would be like if they had a child together. Riffed on both Sin City and Calvin and Hobbes.

Shortly after No Man's Land, there was a great Batman issue where Batman was alone and bored in the Batcave. He kept calling Oracle for status reports on current cases, until Dick Grayson answered back, "Hey, do you mind? We're making out here!" Later he called up Aquaman to help him retrieve the giant penny, which had fallen into an underground lake during the Gotham earthquake. At the end of the issue, Aquaman said, "Hey, next time why not just say you want some company? I'll bring some videos or something." (all quotes from memory)

It was an early issue of Batman: Gotham Knights. I wanna say #6 or 8 or 10, one of those. And yeah, it was pretty funny. Especially the part with Bruce talking to the bats in the cave.

Impulse #50 (team-up with Batman).

Was that the one where Impulse
'solves' the riddle of where Eddie Nigma stashed a bomb, by just searching the entire city in less than a second? Because I believe that's what youngsters refer to as 'pwnage'. :D

Can't believe that no one's mentioned the Lobo Convention Special yet! It's cruel and it's crude, but by God, I laughed so hard that my unborn children wet themselves...

No, it's the one where he teams up with Bats to take down the Joker, and Batman finally reveals why he named Bart "Impulse." (Even though apparently both Superman and Bart himself also named Bart "Impulse"... apparently it was a committee decision.)

Batman, Superman, Max, Wally, Bart himself... everyone seems to have been in on it (http://www.hyperborea.org/journal/archives/2007/06/27/naming-impulse/). I think it's safe to say Wolverine wasn't involved, but I wouldn't rule anyone else out!

We kept it a secret to protect me from Bart's enemies, but...I am the one who came up with the name Impulse. Now that he's gone, I feel I can come forward.

:D

Seriously though, those Young Justice issues seem popular. Wish they'd trade them so I could read them.

That was a great issue. It was Gotham Knights #18. A cover is worth a thousand words in this case:

I also agree with that Martian Manhunter issue. I would say that is the funniest comic I have read in my life. There was also a story in a JLA 80 page giant (I believe) that was the JLI crew trying to catch a mouse. Guy Gardiner ends up getting hit on the head and becoming a nice guy, which creeps everyone out. I will have to look that up. It was also very funny.

Yeah , but that was almost an independent project since Aragones and Evanier also did the same to Marvel.

Speaking of Aragones & Evanier , their fanboy mini series was also funny.

If anything, I thought Impulse just got weirder after Waid left. The Loebs run was extremely strange. The Dezago run was a little more traditional super hero (at least in comparison to Loebs run) but it was still pretty goofy. I definitely agree that Bart didn't really change until Graduation Day and when he became Kid Flash in Teen Titans.

Man, Bart was the best...

Part 2 of the furball that became Power Girl's pet. Wondered where Guy Gardner had send that cat to ? He used the transporter tube to send that mangy cat to the JLE headquarters in Paris and the cat problems continued over there where it unknowingly activated an emergency alarm that send the JLA over to paris and a rematch between guy & that cat.

I don't know if it really qualifies as a 'comedy' issue, but it was funny as well as touching. The Archie Goodwin RIP issue of the Batman Adventures comic.... you know the one after he died, giving som love to Mr. Goodwin? Funny stuff, but emotional too.
