WORLD WAR BLOG! (http://worldwarblog.blogspot.com) is a journal, told from the perspective of a comic book writer, of my experiences buying and reading the big summer crossover event from Marvel, the first time I have followed such an event since junior high.
Week by week, I’ll be buying all of the issues and tie-ins of WORLD WAR HULK and blogging about it at worldwarblog.blogspot.com (http://worldwarblog.blogspot.com) It’s more than reviews, it will be about the experience of reading comics, following a crossover, and my thoughts on the state of the medium, specifically superheroes.
I’ve just begun the project this past week and have a few entries, including my review of WWH #1, up for your viewing pleasure. While I admit that my posts strive for some humor, I am not writing this as a parody or making any attempt to make fun of the books or their fans. I’m a comics geek myself, and my goal is to make this journal as honest as possible.
A bit about myself. My name is Damon Hurd and I am an indie comic book and graphic novel writer. I’ve written six graphic novels including my Eisner nominated debut, MY UNCLE JEFF. My other books are: A SORT OF HOMECOMING, THE WHITE ELEPHANT, A STRANGE DAY, TEMPORARY, and PICTURES OF YOU (due out in September) I’ve also written two X-MEN UNLIMITED stories for Marvel in issues 9 and 13.
I do hope you’ll check it out. It’s a wacky idea for a project, but I hope you will find it both enjoyable and enlightening.
