...with my contributions to All-Star Companion, Vol. 3 (at least for now).
Much as I love Earth-Two 'n'all, I *really* need a break from that particular buncha comics. Anybody got any suggestions for a good four-color palate cleanser?

That was harsh, Dan Bailey. I even refrained from mentioning the Strange Tales comics that Kirk G sent me from his "Time Capsule" just so that no one would bring up the Space Messiah.
Some stuff that I've read/reread lately that has a fun, palate-cleansing feel:
-Resurrection Man (27 issues, I've found them all cheap) by Abnett, Lanning, and Guice; a nearly self-contained story with ties to the greater DC Universe and very cool art
-Orion (25 issues, one trade) by Walt Simonson; one of the only true continuations of Kirby's Fourth World
-Blue Beetle (16 issues so far, start at seven or nine) by Giffen, Rogers, et al.; one of the best "teen hero" books I've ever read, with snappy dialogue and cartoony art
-1963 (six faux Image comics) by Moore, Gibbons, and more; a never-finished series that set out to create a Silver Age for Image comics
-The Amazing Screw-On Head (one-shot) by Mike Mignola; Mr. Mignola takes a break from Hellboy to get all the goofy things out of his head into one comic
-Doctor Strange: The Oath (recent five-issue mini) by BK Vaughan & Marcos Martin; great art and the only good Doctor Strange done in years
-Franklin Richards: Son of a Genius (various one-shots) by Elioupolis and Starkings; Calvin & Hobbes set in the Baxter Building with HERBIE playing the part of stuffed-tiger-pal

I'd dropped this one from my pull list a couple of months ago, less because of any perceived lack of quality than because I need to cut spending, but I saw a Comics Should be Good mention today of the new one including Traci 13 in the characters, & given my fondness for her character in the Dr 13 backups in the just-concluded Tales of the Unexpected limited series, I guess I'll be picking it up again. *sigh*

The interactions between Traci 13 and Jaime are great! There's some really bright stuff going on between all of the characters.

If you want to get away from fanboy continuity, I'd suggest Kanigher's war books, EC and Barks' ducks.

Well now lemme see...
Corn-sid-er-ring that you have been immersed in one of the more convoluted continuity constructs in comical book mythos (and the fact that Dan already gave the cleverest and most fun answer), I would lean towards some light Little Lulu fare from a Dark Horse trade, or if the latest Dennis the Menace is still on sale at Amazon, that would be a good snag. The Gasoline Alley collections (currently on volume 2) are a joy and delight.
Course they aren't four color, but they are comics and wonderful reads.
Now me, when I've had an overdose of underwear adventurers, I like to visit the swamps and watch the possums and 'gators. But I know you've been there many a time.
If you still want a touch of super-hero in your reading diet, but not all the capes, then do some digging in the manga (yes I said manga) section for the two volume set of Mia, the Psychic Girl

It's one of the more underrated(at least here in the States) comical books series, and I think the odds are pretty high that this series was an influence on the creative definitions of the television series Heroes
I have the Eclipse full comical size set from the 80s, which my failing eyesight appreciates greatly. But it is a good read, even in the made-for-Micronauts sized editions.

If you very much want to persuse the definitive comic book that is decidely nothing to do with anything, I will suggest Fantagraphics's recent "I Will Destroy All Civilized Planets", featuring the fabulousy bizarre constructs of the fairly distasteful Fletcher Hanks. Comics never seemed so strange; their colours so flat and gorgeous.
Also, of more modern vintage... any random issue of Marvel Team-Up (but especially the early ones) provide lots of fun, pretty much continuity liberated reading.
They are kind of repetitive, but who cares when it comes to the indominatable Kirby/Ayers pairing... and Atlas monster stories.
You've probably read them to death, but Bob Haney Braves and the Bolds provide nice escape.
Ummm... maybe Devil Dinosaur
Barks is good, as TGuy has mentioned.
Virtually anything, of course, from Dell and Gold Key, where while some continuity exists it is pleasantly rather weightless.

Thanks for the great suggestions, guys. Guess I shoulda mentioned that I can't afford to buy anything new just now so it has to be something already in my collection (benday was on the right track suggesting Brave & Bold but I just re-read those recently). The point's moot, anyway, cause Roy just asked me to write a couple of additional sidebars.

Not done yet after all!

Ah ha! The cats outta the bag. You just wanted somebody to find and dig up this musty old thread (http://http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?t=163207&highlight=collection)
Well ok then. I'd start with a little dash of...
Bat Lash 1
Antro 1-6
Brother Power the Geek 1,2 and 3! <-- Dan will be reading this one over your shoulder I'm betting.
Then throw in a solid pinch of ...
Demon 1-16
And just to get outta DC land for a break, grab that Dell Giant #31 and enjoy some Huckleberry Hound Summer Fun.
Issue 9 of Not Brand Echh! has some wonderfully stuff, including a Tom Sutton favorite of mine, "Casey at the Bat" with the inedible Bulk playing the part of Casey.

And wow! Cool! You have Asterix in Spain, and Asterix and Cleopatra. The first two Asterix I ever read and I read them in London of all places way back in 1977. Put those at the top of stack, grab some soda, and sit back and enjoy the grand summer evening before us.
The point's moot, anyway, cause Roy just asked me to write a couple of additional sidebars.
Awww... tell the slave driver you're doing research work and you'll get back to him in a couple of days. He'll never know.

Great suggestions, all. I actually went in a completely different direction: I'm reading Charles Dickens' The Pickwick Papers.

I read my first Dickens last summer and had a blast with it! Well, it wasn't *purely* Dickens; it was a book called "The D Case", in which lots of detectives from literature gather at a convention to solve Dickens' unfinished "The Mystery of Edwin Drood". But it still counts, because in the course of the book, Dickens' extant chapters of Drood are included in full, sandwiched in between the detectives' speculations, historical context, biography, and literary analysis.
Oh, and the All-Star Companion Volume 3 is on my list of must-buys, now, Kurt! I loved the first volume, and passed (for the time being) on the second, since it covered stuff I read the first time around. I'm really happy your project is seeing print in such a top-quality publication. I expect it'll be the highlight of the book!
