Man, JMS is in the zone in this one. I know people had their qualms about the science behind the Silver Surfer's predicament, but if you ignore that and look at this as a What If? and just take in the philosophical writing, you'll conclude this is really, really good. Christ-like philosophical Norrin is the way he's supposed to be written. On another note, OMG, Spidey's eyes were black instead of white, JMS has fundamentally mis-characterized Peter Parker beyond repair. Heh. The art on this wasn't bad either. W/ Annihilation, Nova and this, it's a good time to be a cosmic fan.
Peace.
I thought it was a really touching issue. Parts of it reminded me a lot of the end of The Burnt Offering over in Cable & Deadpool. But I really liked the writing. Yes maybe things aren't quite correct about how the Silver Surfer's skin works, but considering we're accepting this isn't set in continuity, I don't think every detail like that needs to be nit-picked.
Anyways I was confused about the last couple of pages. I thought the splotch on SS's left arm seems to disappear after he does his big show. But it still sounds like he's going to die? Maybe it was supposed to look bigger and I just didn't see it right.

I can't recommend this title highly enough. Beautifully written! Beautiful artwork! You couldn't ask for more. Don't miss out.

I've read allot of comics in my days. And I would say that this one is among the greatest. JMS is an awsome author.

I'm with the rest of you, this book is shaping up to be one of the definitive takes on the Surfer. I particularly loved the explanation of the "surfboard"... made perfect sense.
My only qualm with this issue is that I know I've seen this ending before. UI had to think back, but I'm pretty sure it was in a What If issue, What If?... Spider-Man Kept The Powers of Captain Universe? Basically, it was a power corrupts storyline, but it ended with Spider-Man releasing his omni-power to everyone on earth... I'm not one to scream plagiarism, especially for a genius like JMS, and hey, he probably never read the issue, but it's been done before.

Silver Surfer back in form. I love it.
Beautiful issue. Simply beautiful. The only thing that bothered me was that there was no reason for why Spider-Man's eyes were black, but that's such a minor complaint, it has almost no bearing on the issue itself. But it was something I couldn't keep my self from asking about in my mind while reading.
Superb work from both JMS and Ribic. It was so emotional and deep. Great characterization and storytelling by JMS. And Ribic really makes these characters look alive. At times, his art reminds me of Michelangelo's and that really makes me glad for a comic book to have that level of artistic quality. Norrin looked so stoically emotive juxtaposed with Spider-Man's expressive gesturing. It was so good.

Have to say, this was a solid issue. I rather enjoyed it. I didn't get why Spidey's eyes were black either. Also, was MJ's hair blonde? Was that from being in space?

I have been under the impression that this story is set in the future as well as being non cannon. I just thought that Spidey's eyes being black had some sorta back story to them like a new power or maybe just a costume change.
MJ's hair did look blonde and with that black headband she had a weird resemblance to Gwen Stacy. Perhaps the expirience she had in space was similar to the enlightenment Captain Marvel underwent when his hair turned blonde?

I would really like if this took place in the future. Im a bit tired of "What if's".

Sadly, this is about as "in continuity" as spider-man reign was. I believe marvel's official stance on MK project is "it's not in continuity unless someone feels like making it continuity". I'm really enjoying it too, though.

I noticed Peter had glasses again, too. The FF also had their old uniforms in the first ish.

I thought it was really touching. A much better improvement from last issue.
The art was great and the writing was good.

The Silver Surfer is swiftly becoming one of my favorite heroes.:)
I liked how the Silver Surfer explained why he uses a surf-board.

I assumed it was non canon because in Peter's monologue near the end of the issue he mentions how he never saw the Surfer again in his lifetime. That gave me the impression of Peter reflecting on Requiem from far off in the future. Basically JMS used the same line he used in a monologue for the final Babylon 5 episode.

I think that Spider-Man's eyes were drawn black simply because, although he doesn't know he is dying or anything black is a color of mourning and I think the artist did that for that reason.
