Now that the first arc has shipped, and we have seen the first contact between all the participants, we can see where the Hivelings come in, in HFH #11; we can see that Silent War was the common thread from CW to WWH; and Chris Gage is multiplying the hurt that Hulk is doing in the X-Men.
I have loved this major event, because though some books showed what happens in the back alleys (HFH, and FL), the other books rip apart the heros (no offence Hivelings). It's going to be very interesting who killed Arch-E, or even if he was killed, because we never saw his body? Or the real intention of the silent owners of the Alternative newspaper. Did the silent owners have something to do with Arch-E's killing? Can you kill a robot?
What revelations have other posters observed with the first arc completed?

I've observed that... Frontline is STILL the weak link.
The moment I heard about some neighbourhoods not being properly evacuated and this whole settling down thing or whatever of the aliens, I realised that Jenkins is set to make a repeat performance and deliver- to use the term Sean Whitmore coined- Bizarro World War Hulk!

Yeah, there was a lost opportunity. Naming some -
Black Bolts defeat by Hulk
The Tidal wave effect mentioned in IH #107 but never witnessed.
The destruction of Arch-E (which may have been a spoiler, but they could do it as a mystery assailant)
The collection of the NA and MA for the NY evacuation, seeing as how the NA are outlaws.
The conversation between IM and Sentry
See the Hivelings land and then disperse into the backstreets.
See the Old X-Men sumoned from where they were, and their reactions to Hulks invasion of Mansion.

Your prejudice against the last Frontline is showing. I've actually been pleasantly surprised with this one.
To me, an exploration of the social/real world effects of a super-battle are interesting. I like the fact that someone's building a story about the possible social inequities of something as mundane as an evacuation, and the New Orleans parallel is a good one. And I liked the "mortals eye view" of the battle between Cage and Hulk--the way it was presented was pretty clever, and obviously another possible real world consequence (a gas main breaking) is going to be explored next.

Frontline has been my favorite WWH book so far. Its actually coving things I care about, like what the Warbound are doing.

Well for the New Xmen he has
Thrown X-23 through (???) a wall, ripped the limbs of Rockslide (and probably got a medal for it), gone easy on Hank (really this is Hulk), ruptured Hellions eardrums (that should NOT have completly taken him out, but he is still a kid (had ruptured ear drums once, and they hurt but still let you function once you get over the shock) ... beat Mercury to the ground.
I doubt seriously Prof.X will get beaten (unless he is going back to the wheel chair?) as he has no way to actually survive a real beating, While some of the main crew could (Logan, Collosus, Emma as Diamond form, Kitty etc)

The New Orleans parallel would work if it wasn't calling SUPER HEROES racist. Jenkins is so busy trying to make a point about the US Government that he has basically claimed EVERY super hero, including- oh, I dunno, the FALCON and LUKE FREAKING CAGE totally ignore black and poor districts. Oh, and apparantly all telepaths as well since all you had to do was THINK for help.
So either they're all idiots or they're all racists... or it was horrendous writing. Guess which theory I subscribe to. :D
The mere idea that the Falcon, Cage etc don't bother checking in to areas like Harlem- espeically when Falcon covers it as part of the Initiative- is just insane.

I mean I can't believe I'm giving SHIELD credit here, but what if they actually had a plan on how to orderly evacuate NYC. The whole interview with the woman from Harlem occurred around 13 hours after the Hulk made his ultimatum. Would it be OK for Luke Cage and Falcon to say "screw all you whities I'm going to save the black people" just because they didn't like what order Harlem was in the list of areas to evacuate?

But that's not what was depicted. Jenkins is CLEARLY trying to say these people weren't evacuated so he can make his rubbish Katrina parallel. You're trying to work around it and talk about things off-panel- I used to try that for CW: Frontline too, but believe me when I say that it's best to assume Jenkins hasn't read- or indeed, seen any trace of- the main mini he accompanies if this is anything like CW Frontline. The number of head scratching moments and outright contradictions makes one wonder if Tom Brevoort had a few off days when he edited the series.

Besides exiling Hulk, what did Black Bolt do to deserve a beat down?

But I give Paul Jenkins the benefit of the doubt for 2 reasons.
1. Way back in 2002 he used to be my favorite writer.
2. Regardless of the severe lack of quality in all of his recent works, he more than any writer made it so easy to depict the pro-regs as the evil, souless spawns of devils we all knew they were during CW.:D
Besides exiling Hulk, what did Black Bolt do to deserve a beat down?Another 2 reasons:
1. Terrorist strike on an NYC theatre during Silent War.
2. Anyone with an undefeated record against the Hulk is just asking to get smashed.

A critique like that attacks the system not the individuals. It makes us ask why the government didn't send more/any soldiers down there, not why didn't the soldiers go themselves. The governments mismanagement of resources is a recurring problem in RL & comic books & it's nice to see the more mundane side of the Marvel life.

But it's also an insult to the heroes involved.
