Probably because she is 98% Darkchilde at this point. We still don't know what has happened to her from her last appearance at the end of Inferno to now, but I think that she is pretty much souless.

But she still has a little bit of remorse/feeling, like when talking about her soulsword and in looking at one panel in the preview.

Yeah, when she said 'Only a soulsword can kill him, and I've lost mine', I was pondering whether she said she'd lost her soulsword, or whether she was really saying she'd lost her soul.

In which case, finding and returning her (original) soulsword might make her a bit more human.

Yes it is. But Limbo works differently out of ALL the "dead" characters to come back Limbo (and crimson dawn) are probably the ONLY things that'd make sense.

Because just like everyone who was brought back in HoM, they're real memories were surpressed by fake ones that fit the reality woogie. All it took was Layla Millar to awaken the old memories.

That's assuming Illyana was on earth when Wanda restored reality. When she teleported away at the end of New X-Men # ?, no one knows where she went. Suppose she instinctively 'ported to Limbo, which was presumably unaffected by Wanda's spell; when reality was restored, Illyana's memories were of House of M and not the 616 universe. (Also, had Illyana been exposed to Wanda's reality restoration wave, it's likely that she would have ceased to exist again like most of the other dead characters)

So here's Illyana with HoM memories in her head, restored in a Marvel Universe she doesn't remember. For whatever reason afterwards, she loses her soul and becomes the Darkchylde. Perhaps if Illyana makes it out of the "Quest" alive, her memories of earth 616 will be restored. Guess we'll have to wait and see...

its a flashback luv...notice the different colouring? Dr. Roa is probably explaining how she got the Cure

However, Illyana never died. Discount UXM #303 - because "little snowflake" was never 616 Illyana. She was an alternate Illyana swapped out by the Darkchylde herself at the end of Inferno. The "real" Illyana has been kicking around in Limbo since then, both literally and figuratively. This is how it was intended to be written, and since we've become so used to Retcons since then, I'm willing to believe that this is how it should be. I think Marvel might believe the same, having just had Louise Simonson write Magik again for the first time since 1988.

HoM Illyana could be the alternate Illyana brought back to life, or she could be 616 Illyana wrenched out of Limbo in the dimensional convergence described in UXM #462, or she might be still another Illyana from somewhere in the multiverse (several of them have appeared in-continuity).

I can't believe that they're actually going to kill Pixie. In fact, I'd say it's probably a grade-a fake-out. There's too much there for them to write her off.

Wrong, Wanda changed probability to do what she did. If she changed the probabilty of Wolverine turning into a chicken to 1 in 1 then no matter where he is, how far away or in what dimension, he'd turn to a chicken.

Of course by your assumption it's also right, which is the sad thing, it's never been explained. Wanda's thing was strong enough to tear a rift through reality and bring Man Jim Jaspers back to life for a part, at that time it was in Otherworld where he was bought back, not just a mystical dimension away but an entire reality or more.

This is so exciting I'm almost tempted to get an avatar of something pertenint to this arc!! Mr. Yost I think that this is one arc that I'll be naming among my favouritist recent arcs in comics for a long time to come. You've somehow managed to smash alot of meaningful dialogue and character development into the arc while at the same time providing us with non-stop tension and action. Truly masterful.

It Just doesn't make any sense though Dr Rao was working on finding a cure for mutants why would she be working with Hank to find a way to reverse M-Day? I guess these mysteries will unfold later on in the arc

She didn't intend the cure to be for anyone who didn't want it. Also, the cure was a stalling technique to keep Ord from declaring War on the Earth. At least until SWORD's psychics found out who the Destroyer was.

i think Loa is knocked out from the magic blast, and Gentle's powers put to much strain on his bosy and he's probebly still passed out...but Loa RULES!

I certainly hope so. I am not certain as to her age but I wish she would come to her senses a bit and end up joining the team. I would love to see Colossus, Kitty and her old New Mutants teammates reactions to her being alive. I would like to see her end up moving to the forefront of the X-books, she was always one of my favorite characters.

Personally, I don't want Magik on the team, mainly only because we already have Vic stepping up and the cast is big enough already. I'd probably rather have Pixie on the team than Magik but I have nothing against her coming back and being a part of another team...although that would probably never happen. Bring a character back in one book and then suddenly have them pop up in another. Maybe she'll be in NXM thru Messiah Complex and then somewhere else after. I wouldn't HATE having her on the team. It could be cool.

Or maybe everything will be resolved with her in issue #41, we already know that the Astonishing team are guesting so Kitty and Colossus are bound to encounter her one way or the other!

40 is out in two weeks, it feels like it's been done forever. 41 is in production. 42 is being written. 44 is written. The cover for 43 is so freaking AWESOME, thank you Skottie Young.

New X-Men showing up in Carey's X-Men, Gage's WWH:X, right in the middle of Messiah Complex... and hopefully, the Endangered Species story will get more eyes on the book, too. It's exciting times.

And thanks again to Skottie Young, the freaking hero of this book. Issue 41 has something like 12,000 characters in it. Or maybe 39. But it's a LOT, and they're all together in one room.

We're feeling ya! It does feel like forever since the last issue, I hate the wait! (But it's always worth it!). Skottie has done amazing things with the characters, I hope the future artists pay attention to the little details, like Anole's carapice and Pixies eyes/hair.

I wonder if you're feeling extra pressure knowing that ES and Messiah Complex are gonna have some peoples eyes on the book for the first time? Not that there's anything to worry about 'cos the book's the best it's ever been! Most exciting teen book/characters in the MU hands down! All our thanks to you and Craig for the journey so far!


Make sure we get Magik back for good, and Ill buy every issue 10 times.

Is it just me, or is anyone else finding that it is an extremely loooooooooooong wait 'til NXM # 40 comes out? I mean, granted it's only a little over a week away, but geez, it seems like it's taking forever?

I can't wait to see what happens next, especially with regard to Pixie and Illyana. How different will be Pixie be after her ordeal, and will Illyana make it out of Limbo alive? Will Belasco's "Quest for Magik" be all for naught? So many questions and the answers can't come soon enough!

I think it'll be 5 weeks between issues when #40 comes out. They may of had the extra week so they could line up the back-up stories correctly.

I can't wait to see more of this arc. It'll be fun once everyone is free and ready for the final showdown. I hope they don't make the Astonishing team look totally incompetent again.
