Has the original Monster Society of Evil story(Captain Marvel Adventures #22–46 ) been reprinted anywhere? I thought DC might have since Jeff Smith is currently doing his take on it, but I looked it up and their archives are only up to Captain Marvel Adventures #5. Thanks in advance for any help.

I've seen references to some limited edition HC, like for example this page: http://www.marvelfamily.com/comics/titles/issueinfo.asp?title=MonsterSocietyOfEvil&issue=1

It doesn't seem to show up at online retailers. It's listed as out of stock at mycomicshop.com. I think once upon a time I saw a very pricey copy on ebay.

The edition that Spoon's references, besides being hardcover is also tabloid size (about the same as the Treasury Edition Comical books from the 70s or the later issues of The Kirby Collector or the Gerber Photo-Journals).

It comes in a slipcase, all black. The pages are photographed from the actual comic books, which means better results that your typical Marvel Masterwork or DC Archive reproduction, but not as nice as the Russ Chochran EC books.

I got my copy in the early 90s from Bud Plant at a nifty discount from cover price. Spent a long weekend reading it outloud to my two sons.

I'm hoping for a new reprint (Showcase style?) of the original Monster Society of Evil if Mr. Smith's current series does well.

I have a copy as well. My brother got it for me as a birthday gift a few years back. I think he found it at Midtown Comics in NYC. I didn't realize the pages were photographed, but that explains why I always felt there was something off about them. Thanks for the explanation.

OK thats two of them. Now we just gotta find the other 2998 copies.

My professor has a copy. That leaves 2997.

And I had a copy. I sold it on ebay, unwisely opening the auction up to international sales, and it was won by a fellow in Australia. After the agonizingly long boat-trip to the southern hemisphere, he raised a ruckus because I didn't tell him the pages were "barely attached to the binding." I didn't think about it because that's how all copies of the book are--the book is well-known (well, at least among the 3000 of us) to have extremely delicate binding. I refunded his (considerable) shipping costs and he refrained from leaving negative feedback (or any feedback), and I learned an important lesson, I guess.
