IMP Awards doesn't allow hotlinking. I'm assuming you're talking about this one.

Looks more like a nod than a swipe to me.

Homage. Canete doesn't need to swipe.

Yup. As lame as I think it is, that's clearly homage to a famous poster and not a swipe.

Dammit. Thanks for reminding me that with all my posters, I still have yet to get my hands on that, one of my favorite movie posters.

The artist is liked by the fans so it's not a swipe. :)
Artist that isn't liked or unknown= digusting swipe. >:(

You can say that as many times as you want, Martin. Saying it a lot doesn't make it true.

It's a tip of the artists hat to an iconic piece of art. He's honoring the previous piece of art and not stealing it....sort of like this upcoming cover...

The 1991 Rocketeer poster is loosely based off of this.....

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not. Other than the fact that the Rocketeer is flying in the same direction, the posters look nothing alike.

The Rocketeer (comic and then movie) was based on this old serial - King of the Rocket Men and the Commando Cody series. The art for the comic and movie were based on these posters and serials. The figures in the two posters aren't the same character but they look very much alike.

Edit - but yeah I suppose the 1991 poster itself doesn't look tremendously like the earlier King of the Rocket Men poster - although it and a couple of others were the inspiration for the newer ones. I wasn't saying it was a swipe just that it was loosely modeled off of it.....the Rocketeer was a homage.
