Silver Surfer: Requiem #1

Does anyone know whats happening with this MK mini. It was supposed to be by JMS and Esad Ribic. Has it been cancelled or just taking a long time? Lat i heard it was supposed to be out this fall, but i havent heard anythign since.

Last I heard Ribic was still working on it, but that was about six months ago.

Any new Silver Surfer series (not related to some other crossover) is welcome news. I haven't read the late 90s series, but heard it was terrible. I've read the Annihlation Surfer mini and I want more. I guess I'll have to buy the rest of the issues of the 80s/90s series (I stopped at #120) to get my fix. I'd be very interested to see what JMS could do with the Surfer!

The end of SS v. 3 got pretty bad.

SS v. 4 (2004-2004) was quite possibly the worst run of comic books I've ever had the misfortune of buying and reading. Seriously, awful, dreadful, monstrous, unforgivable.

I hope anything new doesn't suck nearly the way v. 4 did.

I loved Volume 3 up until Ron Marz left.

The series is still coming out, but because it is being fully painted it is basically taking forever to get done.

I hear its still a fair ways off.

When you say Volume 2, do you mean the One-Shot? Because technically that is V. 2 and the 80's-90's run is V. 3

Yeah I should add that statement to what I said. Volume 3 till Marz left was good too. Marz is pretty good with those cosmic characters.

I think they were gonna let Ribic work on it for a while - which may take time as it'll be painted.

Volume 1 is key, of course
Vol. 2 (Byrne 1-shot) kicked butt! :D
The non-continuity Epic "Parable" is fantastic, 2 parter
Vol. 3: 1 - 149 was cool! I loved the early stories, then that leads into the Thanos stuff (which we all love, of course). After that it gets a little touch and go, but 100 was good. Then JM Demattais and Ron Garney took over and it was VERY COOL! After their run, well... it did get cancelled.

Just to be clear and semi-official, this series is still happening and it is by JMS and Esad. I've seen pages and it's awesome!

JMS has been extremely generous with the character as the Surfer falls under his and Tom Brevoort's (FF editor) jurisdiction. JMS and Tom gave their full approval for the Surfer's use in ANNIHIATION and we (that's the creative teams and myself) are extremely grateful.

When this comes out, it will knock your socks off!

I liked the first issue, outstanding art, but I'm not a fan of these "last days" stories.

It is a very good story and the interaction between Surfer and the FF4 was great. I am a little disappointed that this is a MK series, but I will take it for what it is and just enjoy a great Silver Surfer "What If?" Story.

First of all, Hi, I'm new here.

Secondly...

Holy crap. I just read this comic last night and it was fantastic. My wife was reading next to me and I laughed so much in just the first couple of pages that she put her book away and asked me to read it to her. It was amazing. J. Michael Straczynski is absolutely amazing. I don't think there is a better writer in comics today. To take you from laughing fits to near tears in just a few pages takes refined talent and this man has it. I highly recommend you checking it out.

Yeah I read it yesterday and there was NOTHING funny about the first couple of pages...just Surfer straining my brain with talk of stars!

Unless you mean the first couple of pages of the FF with the "flashy green machine" stuff which was kinda funny...but not "lol" funny! Just your typical Reed/Ben banter...

But yeh, really nice art and what's shaping up to be intriguing and emotional story...

I finally got around to reading it. It was just as good as I expected, and I had been waiting for this mini for a long time. The art was beautiful, if not a little washed out at times. I think I'm going to wait until it comes out as a TPB to buy it though.

How do you know? I mean, besides the fact that JMS wrote it and it actually has the REAL Reed Richards running around, as opposed to who JMS was writing in Civil War.
