View Full Version : DragonCon - Edward Kramer
Anyone know if the show is in anyway still associated with him? Do you think he's guilty or innocent? Does the con try to help him in any way?
What about all the wonderful writers he's edited for? They name him or have any ideas about his situation? I had not known about this until today, and it kind of spoils the idea of Dragon-Con for me, besides all the usual grumblings about how the show is one big slut-fest anyways.
I think he has been mistreated with 7 years and no trial. But if he is guilty, then...I could honestly not really care. Sodomy upon a 13 year old boy is to be frowned upon. I find it odd that the CBLDF goes to the Con as well, if he is in any way associated with it and what is with his yahoo page picture??
In any case, I think if he ever got out, would the con accept him back? Would he be despised as the infamous founder who is a criminal? Would he ever be allowed near the con as a possible registered sex offender? I have never gone to this con, so I don't know, personally, what it's like, but more than a few of the CBR'ers have gone. Any thoughts?

So civil rights should only apply to the innocent?

Why shouldn't the CBLDF go to the con? And they only work on first amendment issues, not civil rights per se.
I have no idea what yahoo page you're talking about. Link?

I had never heard of him until I read your post, and I've been going to Dragon*Con for 6 years now.
I love the slutfest. :)

But but but...
You're ruining the outrage!
We already brought the pitchforks and everything!
Pfft.
Never heard of the dude. I actually had to Google him. He is still listed on dragoncon.org in the "People" section.
And if you're grumbling that it's a slut-fest you probably wouldn't enjoy going, anyway. Stay home.

I don't know who this guy is or the case; I looked it up, but it'd be nice to have had some background info in the opening post. I don't know why he hasn't been given a trial yet after seven years though - that just sounds daft, if they have enough evidence for a trial bloody do it, and if they don't then don't carry on with him under house arrest awaiting trial.
Beyond that - "slut-fest"?

I don't think the con is quite as slutty as it was circa 2001, but with preparation and a little luck I think we can get it back there!!!

If by slutfest he's refering to the more dodgy costumes, and 2006, a year full of such costumes, wasn't as full as previous years...
Then I'm terrified to think of what it was like in 2001.

It was awesome, and we can get there again.
I say we campaign for the addition of a "naughty catholic schoolgirl" costume contest!

Wasn't that the inaugural year of the Dawn Look-A-Like contest?

I went to a school that had uniforms, so I will campaign against that on grounds of reliving trauma.
What we need is more skintight costumes, lots. I'd set an example but that would leave my ribs & pelvis bones on show, and I don't think anyone wants that.

For a brief second I thought you meant Dawn from Buffy, and a Dawn Summer Look-A-Like being a "slut fest" makes my mind go "ewwww".
