Are the stories in the Little Lulu Color Special trade collected in any of the black and white Little Lulu trades?

I haven't heard about the Color Special trade - do you have a link?

I have most of the DH volumes - they pretty much print the Dell comics in order (although it started as a bit of a 'Best Of' before they switched schemes).

Its not numbered like the others so I don't know if it is collected in any of the b&w trades.

No, it was never a best of. The first volume published contained the third (or fifth, I don't recall) block of stories, but none of them were samplers.

The color volume is a sampler. Some of the stories in it are in the black and white volumes. Some aren't, but would be eventually if the line continues long enough.

Yeah - I guess I didn't mean a sampler - I was just told by someone at The Beguiling here in Toronto that the intent was to publish the comics with the best story (hence, perhaps not start with the first chronological FC issues), but maybe just what they perceived as the best actual issues of the title.

I was also told that they didn't number the volumes initially as they weren't sure how successful it would be.

What was the first one published? I have a feeling it was My Dinner with Lulu but I can't remember.

I don't know for sure - but that's what I heard.

Your thread caught my eye. I don't have any answer to your question - just wanted to say that just last week I got the first volume of the Dark Horse trades and I love it. These stories are very funny!

Yes, the first one was My Dinner with Lulu. The second trade Sunday Afternoon is also not numbered.

Glad you gave it a try, Pete. The stories are indeed very funny.
