Welcome to X-Crescence, which is from the word excrescence, which is defined as "An outgrowth or enlargement, especially an abnormal one, such as a wart."
Well, this is an outgrowth from the X-Boards proper.
This is where you pretty much can post whatever you want.
Civility rules apply here!
Enjoy.

Reposting from Last X-Cres:
Just a heads-up if you haven't heard.
There's a scene during the credits of Fantastic Four 2: Rise of the Silver Surfer.
Also... J. Michael Straczynski has been tapped by Fox to pen a Silver Surfer Origins film.
And yeah Sean, I heard the exact same thing. Sweet. :D

Also, the Avengers board is possibly the most insane place on CBR. I do not envy Bib for having to hold the reins. Like Sage replacing Heather Hudson in Exiles. Heather is now out, NEX is almost over for CC, and Sage will need somewhere to go.

There's a framing story starring a character named Ian McNee that takes the last 4 or so pages of the book and will run through the whole event. It was pretty cool. I actually had read the Marvel Fanfare story he was introduced in a few months ago so I felt cool knowing someone fairly obscure. :o

Well Marvel's been saying for a while, I think since 2005-2006, that they have several tentpole events that leading up to something huge. It'd be interesting to see how what other titles have been dropping clues to it. So since 2008 is the big year, I almost wonder how the X-Men will fit into it.

He also mentions that folks like Wolverine and Spider-Man and Dr. Strange didn't detect them for a reason. The Skrulls have done something to themselves, they are realyl desperate, it's almost do or die for them at this in their civilization. Anyone else get the feeling that Xavier...
BB: New Avengers, Mighty Avengers, and a big whopper in the ending of the Illuminati mini. In fact, the Illuminati miniseries opened with a big hint that this was coming…
NRAMA: Right – after the Kree-Skrull War, and the Illuminati were captured…
BB: And may have inadvertently given them the genetic keys to do what they are doing, which is different from what they did in the past.
NRAMA: And they were captured…
BB: Right – we don’t know how long they had them, and we don’t know if they got them out.
NRAMA: Wait – they all got out.
BB: Did they?
NRAMA: End of the issue, yeah – all the members of the Illuminati were there.
BB: Were they?
NRAMA: Wait – so since shortly after the ending of the Kree-Skrull War…you’re saying…
BB: Yup – that’s what I’m saying.
NRAMA: Bastard. So possibly, for what, thirty+ years, one or some of those characters could have been Skrulls?

Pure speculation, but the Skrulls getting "what they want" from the Illuminati could be some way of replicating Prof. X's telepathy. That would make their invasion a whole hell of a lot easier.

To be fair, New Goblin had 2 movies of development. So his inclusion is fine. :)
But Venom was terrible in the movie. Raimi should have stuck to his guns and did Sandman and Vulture.

See I disagree. I think keep the entire plot but just have Sandman or Venom. You had Spider-Man start on mountain, king of the hill, man of the hour type stuff. Then slowly throughout the whole movie he's knocked down piece by piece. Then at the end you have Vemon, someone who hates Spider-Man, hates b/c he believes Spidey took everything away from him. You could feel the hate Venom had for him in the fight scene. Make that the last fight, two desperate men trying to hang on, killing each other. Or you have Sandman, someone who is just trying to save his daughter, just trying to do the right thing in the wrong way. I personally think Venom would be the best choice.

I think it's just that you're not familiar with the characters so instead of seeing a great story with tons of little tidbits in it, you're just seeing a regular story. For example Trance is supposed to into fashion and then you see her with her converse shoes and it's pretty cool. Or seeing Vic tell Match to step up and be the leader, Match hesitates but in the end tries to save Pixie. thats pretty cool because Match was the leader of squad. And you can clearly see how much Surge/Prodigy's relationship has grown.
I can see how you would not be interested at all in any of this if this is the first time you're seeing them.

It's an OK book. I think at this point (now that we're past the transitional phase) its one of the better written x-books. I mean its standard superhero stuff for the most part, but it is good standard superhero stuff. The writers tackle a lot of characters and for the most part they handle it well, and I think that's a BIG reason the book gets as much praise as it does around here. There's a lot of characters, thus a lot of characters for people to like. And X-Fans love their characters.
The big draw for me at the moment is the Skottie Young art. I like his style and it fits the book pretty well.

Nunzio and Christina's stuff was fun, but I'd argue and least Kyle and Yost are doing something with the characters.
Yeah, mostly they're killing them, but at least its something.
Nunzio and Christina's book was kinda unique in the x-book pantheon in that nothing much ever happened. Which don't get me wrong, was fun sometimes. It was just a book with a bunch of kids at school, dealing with problems like dating a teacher, and who likes who, and "oh no a ghost"! Cute, but unfortunately in the changing landscape of the x-universe it just couldn't last. IMO, the book was getting very stale.
I was skeptical of Yost and Kyle's takeover. Especially during/after their Student Massacre stories (which still haven't seen realistic ramifications IMO). But for the most part they've delivered solid superhero stories, and if they continue to do so for another year or so, I would probably consider their work better than Nunzio and Christina's.

Iceman, Beast and Angel and a 9. Angel is the whole reason I'm picking up Incredible Hulk: WWH issues.
Don't remind me about WWH. My retailer stuck Issue #1 in my box, even though I only ordered WWH: X-Men.
