I usually quit whatever plans I have there and then in favour of sitting down on the couch, with my feet up and a beer reading my comics. It is a true joy! Although I'm genuinely joying everything on my pull list at the moment.

That's true. When expenses come up for me (hot dates, text books, sweet DVD set, etc) I can hold off on buying a new tpb of a series I read in trades because tpb's aren't collectible. They're always available.

Yeah I didn't particularly like New Warriors #1. And I don't like most of the spoilers I'm hearing about the new direction. I'm in for the long run though if the speculation of who Wondra is is true.

Why can't Marvel just relaunch New Warriors and keep it classic New Warriors. The original series was great until they started fucking with it and just dumping tons of new characters in there. They relaunched it 3 times now and they never learn that it was those 6 original characters and their interactions that made so many people love that book in its first 25 issues.

Nova, Namorita, Speedball, Marvel Boy (not Justice), Firestar, and Night Thrasher.

Everyone else (with the exception of Silhouette) seemed added arbitrarily.

They were very popular in the 90's when their series ran 75 issues. The team was basically that era's Young Aveners (only they didn't call themselves Avengers and their abilities weren't patterned after them). A second series lasted about 12 issues in the early 00's and then they had a mini series right before Civil War. If you read Civil War, they were the team that fought Nitro when he blew up all the kids and thus became the starting point for superhero registration. The new series has just started. So far it appears the only returning member is Night Thrasher and its being said the team will be comprised of depowered mutants (such as Beak, Winddancer, and apparently . . . Jubilee).

LOLOL FINNY IS SO STUPID

So I had a regents today (US HISTORY PWNED) and afterwards I was walking to my LCS which is not so local, really, a 40 minute walk total (towards and back) and it's a hot day. So I'm totally excited for Endangered Species and I'm strolling, texting Novaya ("DAZZLER IS A SKRULL!!!"), etc. etc. and I get there and am looking for the graveyard cover. I see the New X-Men cover, I see Uncanny with Storm on it, I see X-Men 199 (picked it up finally! ie. actually bought it lolol) and I just don't see ES.

So the lady notices I'm just standing there and scanning and she's like, "You know, you can just ask for help right!" I'm like "YES M'AM :3" and she's all "New comics come out tomorrow, hon'," with a grin. I'm like Whhhaaaaaaattttt in my head, because this LCS is new to me and actually walkable as opposed to one a mile away (walked once, very rude to me), and I'm like What retarded comic shop gets new comics on THURSDAY?? and she's showing me new comics coming out next week and tomorrow (she was so adorable!) and then it hits me.

Today is Tuesday.

LOLOLOL WHOOPS is what my face said, that expression, and I think she realized!

So I said I'd come back tomorrow, thankyou thankyou etc., and left. Then I turned around, went back in (She goes, "Oh its Wednesday already?!" lolol) and bought X-Men 199 because she was so charming and nice for a 30+ yr old woman. And she asked if I saw FF2 and talked about it (ie.not seeing Galactus) and how she'll rent it since she absolutely hates pplz on their cellular telephones and babies in theatres and all this stuff! Like, that's a comic book shop. One that's fun and cool, not snappy like my old one.

So, yes! Endangered Species tomorrow! Can't wait!

Yeah, that's pretty lame. Personally, I hate it when even background characters die because that's so much wasted potential. Every character can be made into an interesting one, so I can understand why people might get a little irked at you saying it, but I wouldn't say "OMG YOU'RE A BABY KILLER CUZ YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT A CHILD DYING IN A COMIC BOOK." She's a background character, has had almost no action/lines until this arc, so I have no attachment. Yeah, that's pretty lame. Personally, I hate it when even background characters die because that's so much wasted potential. Every character can be made into an interesting one, so I can understand why people might get a little irked at you saying it, but I wouldn't say "OMG YOU'RE A BABY KILLER CUZ YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT A CHILD DYING IN A COMIC BOOK." And I'm too lazy to quote, but yeah, animated series Wolverine is the bomb. I loved his voice in it, but near the end every episode seemed to focus on him, it was kind of aggrivating. I'd take 90's Wolverine over mega-slut 2000's Wolverine any day. Especially Frank Tieri's Wolverine. God damn that shit was awful.

I especially miss Icarus and Sofia (Wind Dancer) but at least Sofia has re-emerged in New Warriors. The characters they killed/depowered who I thought had potential as interesting members of the team were Rubbermaid, Kidogo, Specter and Dryad. And if they HAD to kill some people, I wish they had offed Elixer, Wither, Rockslide and Match instead of some of the others. But in reality, it was they way they killed them that bugged me. Plus, I really never understood why Marvel & DC think it's okay to kill teenagers all the time. The New Mutants, New X-Men, New Warriors and the Teen Titans all have larger casualties than their adult contemporaries. Why is that? It's not okay to kill kids in movies and on TV with such bloodthirsty delight. I just think it's a little sick...

Mmm. I just don't like how much his origin has changed over the years. It really diminishes the character in my opinion. I think his simple past with the Weapon X program, and Canada was enough of a backstory. And like, why should I care about his past? Hellow, we're living in the present here, let's focus about that instead. And I'm sorry, but this new wolf idea is a bit obscure. Writers keep trying to reinvent Logan- giving him new kids, new real names (like WTF is "James Howlett"- L-A-M-E. I'll stick with Logan please), and new backstories. The more mystery there is, the better. Like with Gambit, once everything is out in the open, interest becomes minimal.

Wolverine's animated self from the 90s was just simple, badass superhero. I loved it. I yearn for those days again. And while I don't currently read Astonishing X-Men, I know Joss gets him right too, so I'll credit him there.

But yeah, I am on such a Wolverine kick right now- I'm thinking about buying some back Australian outback stories- namely the cross one with the Reavers. I need some oldschool Logan in my life.

I'm not sure exactly who you're referring to. I didn't agree with Paul O'Brien's review and I did find it sad, but I said that I found it sad not that anyone who didn't is heartless.

Well this, and the crap about how fans in the New X-Men thread make you fucking hate the book and want to punch them in the face and crap. You've made more than one post on the subject in the last few days. Enough that its a little irritating considering how personally you seemed to take it when people made valid complaints about the length and pacing of Brubaker's Shi'ar arc. You couldn't let those criticisms go anymore than people in the New X-Men thread are taking its criticisms. And you know what? No one's judging you for that, or how you're so quick to defend Cyclops or whatever. We all do it, that's the point.
