Between his mood swings, Umbridge, and the lack of Dumbledore fun, it's just too dark.
Now you mention it, those are two big, big problems I had with the book.
Dumbledore was being a secretive dick for no good reason.
And that Harry didn't report Umbridge's child abuse immediately is too fucking retarded to accept. The Umbridge subplot should have been ten pages long and then Professor McGonagall beats her to death.
But the other stuff made up for it. Harry's growing arrogance mirroring his father's. The Weasleys, as you mentioned. The return of Lupin and Black. Harry teaching DAtDA.

Right. It gets annoying when they're all like, "Everything hinges on you, Harry. You are the most important part of all this. But we're not going to tell you anything, and we'll go ahead and let you feel completely isolated while we all plan out your future."
The one thing I like about the detentions is how Harry throws it in the new minister's face in Half-Blood Prince. Sort of a 'Fuck you, sir' moment. :p But during book 5 they're intolerable.

I think in this case, the more condensed format of a movie will only help Phoenix. There won't be as much time dedicated to The Passion of the Potter, and Dumbledore will only be keeping him in the dark for 2 hours rather than 7000 pages.

Not a bad idea, really. Don't know how you'll be able to stand waiting on the last one, though. You're gonna find out what happens via idle conversation someday, since the movie won't be out until 2010. That'll suck!

The only problem is that there is a lot more important stuff that will probably end up cut. Like, in the 4th one, all of Hermione's S.P.E.W. stuff is pretty expendable. The entire sub-plot is easily dropped and the movie doesn't miss it. But in the fifth, there isn't really much by way of a sub-plot. Most of it is important. Except the fun stuff, but if they cut all that, everyone who watches the movie will just want to kill themselves by the end.

One thing that I always thought was a mistake was how new characters are written out of the series once a new writer comes along. They don't really get enough of a chance to develop and really feel like they are "worthy" of being part of the X-Men franchise. It would take a real commitment to keep characters like Marrow, Cecelia Reyes or Stacy-X around for more than a few years to build them into characters that can carry the banner, so to speak.

Anyway, I'm actually REALLY excited about The golden compass now, I think eva green in the trailer makes my pants explode and nicole Kidman looks like she could pull off the CREEPY MUTHAFUCKER. Still not feeling the female littlegirl lead but she can prove herself. CMON DECEMBER!

I really like McDuffie.
I hope he doesn't get kicked off FF for a more high profile writer.
I like him, really liked Beyond but dropped FF after the first arc. Could live without it
I'm pretty sure I did a post suggesting that Peter David was a possible replacement for Slott on She-Hulk, so I feel all prophetic now.
Argh another comic I should probably buy.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY FRODO AND CAYMAN!!! :) Sorry it's late!!! :(
I love Mugglenet! I've downloaded a bunch of their podcasts, but I've only listened to a few. They're pretty good, though. One of the only podcasts I listen to.
Happy Birthday. I hate Harry Potter. I hope he gets AIDS and dies in the last book.
I need to watch Team America again soon. I frigging love that movie!
"America..... fuck yeah!!"
2nd time I watched it, it did nothing for me. Which is a shame as the first time I saw it I laughed so much I nearly coughed my liver out.
I thought the movie was okay. Didn't love it, but it had some good parts. I love the speech at the end.
And from what I understand, they'd actually used that song in South Park first. I read somewhere that it was the only song that wasn't written specifically for the movie, and had been used before.
Yeah it was in a South Park episode. The baseball one I think.
"Heeere we go Denver...."

I guess that you won't write comics anytime soon.:p
Anyway, the Hulk is pissed because he was pretty much kidnapped and sent to space by four of the Illuminati (the ones who will get their asses kicked in the event) to never return, and was going to be alone in a planet forever. However, i don't remember why (was not the Illuminati's intention, though) he ended up on a planet torn by war and with a very nasty dictator in charge. Long-story short, after no-ending battles, he killed the bastard, became their beloved king and was married, in love and with a child on his way. And then, by reasons not yet known, the spaceship blew up and killed nearly every single man, woman and child on the planet, so Hulk's on his way to smash the Illuminati for sending him to space in the first place and for (on his view) killing his wife and his kingdom.
Should be noticed that Namor, the one Illuminati member that voted against Hulk being sent to space (Chuck was absent) voted against the exile not because it was ethically wrong, but because "the Hulk would return, would kill them all, and there's no force on Earth that he will be able to stop him", so he will be laughing out loud and saying "i told you so".
And Hulk ordered Manhattan to be evacuated, so no civilians, except for the losers that stay there because they want to, should be hurt.

I saw FF4 #2 yesturday, and well, I didn't like it. The very end was funny, but that was the only really cool thing in the movie. I think they really butchered the potential of FF, it could of been such an awsome movie. But they made it too kiddish.
Holy cats...OMG, I was reading Avengers Classic #1 last night, and in the reprint of Avengers #1, some guy said "Sufferin' Cats!" and I was like, omg was that a real saying? You saying "Holy cats," reminded me of it.:p
It was funny reading Avengers #1 from a retrospective point of view. It had the first meeting between Hulk and Iron Man, and Iron Man is saying things from, "You're a menace," to, "I only wanna help you!" and Hulk is all, "I can't trust anybody!" I'm surprised it took this long for Stark to really piss him off.

Well it's suppose to be a family movie. I mean I know it's be super bad ass cool to see the Human Torch set someone on fire and for the Thing to crush little kids in a school bus but the FF have always been the "First Family" so to speak.

Feels good doesn't it? My 6 years of college, as great as they were, felt endless somewhat. Now it's time for the dough to cash in.
In an unrelated note, WWH #1 was my fave comic this year , mainly due to my love for Romita Jr's art.
And yes, I haven't been reading many comics lately. And the ones I do are usually pretty bad.

In other news, someone posted the Generation X made-for-TV movie on youtube. THANK GOD. It's sooooooo bad, it's almost really good.
I especially love the sexual tension between Emma and Sean (just like in the comics!).
Sean: "For a over-sexed mind witch, you're a bit of a tight-ass."
Emma: "Oh go wax your chest hair."

I believe she went on to marry James van der Beek (however you spell that - let's just call him Dawson cause he'll never shake that).
I have a bootleg copy of the movie (I got it off here along with a bootleg of the original FF movie). It's not terrible until the plot kicks in with Max Headroom trying to fuck with dreams or something. At that point it's just like 'these people never read the comic did they . . . or learn to form coherent thoughts'.

A BDMania é a mais fácil de encontrar. Fica muito perto da Brasileira, que é um sítio onde todos os turistas vão. E é bem fácil de encontrar. Posso encontrar a morada e dar-te, se quiseres.
