LOL.. Well it always had Central America and I'm guessing this time it has the amazing USA soccer team, but to be honest it usually comes down to Argentina and Brazil so the rest is kinda irrelevant.
Last time Brazil sent its "B team" (even though it had the then not so famous Adriano) and still managed to win.

Yeah, we suck at soccer. I'm surprised our team doesn't get invited to more tournaments just so other countries can kick our butts.

That's usually the case, even with hit makers. If you look up the people that write hits for brit pop acts you'll find out they're almost all one hit wonders that couldn't make it, but surprinsingly for other people they manage to churn them out factory style.

You know what I would kill for?
Free roaming ala GTA, X-Men Legends style games featuring the Buffy universe. A Harry Potter one too.
From a very early age I called bullshit on the Wizard of Oz.
They teach you early in school that the brain is real important, etc. Without it you can't do anything, not even breath, yada yada. So the first time I saw that movie I was nitpicking the shit out of it, which upset my mother.
So little has changed in my method of criticism.
...
And then the wizard's bullshit gifts at the end. The scarecrow gets a diploma? He just hands dumb fuck the diploma and all the sudden he's smart? I believe that's called fraud.OMG! The point of it was that anything we need to succeed we can find already within us... or on our feet. It's deep. Yeah, the Wizard is a fraud, but you find that out the moment Toto pulls out the curtain. From then on, he's just saving his ass. That's why you should read Wicked by Gregory Maguire. It shows the Wizard for the evil fuck he really is. And it's dirty and kinky. It's got tigers raping gay munchkins and the Wicked Witch of the West sniffing her piss in disgust and delight.

Read Alan Moore's Lost Girls in which Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, and the Wizard of Oz are explored as metaphors for the sexual awakenings of the 3 leading ladies.
Dorothy, for example, is a young farm girl who at one points meets a stud of a farmhand. Fucks her day and night, like a machine. But he lacks any true love for her. Metaphorically, he's the tin man. Etc.

I want a free roaming GTA style X-Men game.
I think it was the second and the third that were free-roaming. The third let you play as Ron and Hermione as well. And yeah Quidditch World cup was freaking hard. I hated that game because I could never win, but my friend would always beat me. I don't know how he did it.

I whooped ass in tutorials, but in a real game the computer tore me a new one. Part of it was there's just to much going on. I mean, the game is pretty poorly structured when you think about it. Rowling hates the damn thing now.

John Cassaday's art isn't good enough to be causing such delays on AXM. I lost interest in that title a year ago. Which is sad because it would be so good if it wasn't delayed so severely. Next issue is scheduled for August 15. I don't understand why.

Look at it all as a 24 part graphic novel that's just taking awhile to complete. That's how I look at it. 10 years from now people will read the whole thing in a week and few will remember the delays (and less will care).
LOL! I'm looking at Gwen Stacy's character page on SpiderFan.org. It says:
Usual Bases: Heaven
Powers: Irresistable to Peter Parker and Professor Miles Warren (the Jackal)
Abilities: Former beauty queen, model, danced well

Weapons: She could give a nice smack in the face
Limitations: Cannot survive falls from high places

Id disagree, but then I think Astonishing X-Men is miles better than any of the other current X-Men books (even when its not great).
And it only gets the special treatment because that's what it took. I'd HATE it if that book incorporated all the shit that happens in every other book. Or if there were fill in artists. I like that those things seperate it.

Maybe, but right now it sucks and hurts the book. With a lot of great things going on with the X-men and the MU and things moving fast, Astonishing stuck on the same damn story for years makes it lose momentum. Specially because this last two arcs have been very decompressed and are just good, and pales in comparison to X-men and X-factor specially.

At this point, I don't blame Cassaday anymore. I blame the idiots at Marvel who insist on soliciting the book even though he isn't done and has yet to finish in the amount of time they allow for. For fuck's sake, why don't you wait until he's almost done?! At least then it wouldn't be an annoying series of delays that piss people off, but it would just be a quarterly book.
It's Marvel's fault for continuing to pretend that it's a monthly title.

I don't think all the things going on in the X-Men and Marvel universes are "great". In fact, I think they suck. And I'm happy one book (ONE!) isn't dealing with it and just telling its story that its had mapped out since day one. Fuck the editorial mandated changes to the status quo.
And again, as a comic book, I think Astonishing X-Men is miles ahead of any of the other x-books. X-Factor and especially X-Men included.

Actually, Marvel is intentionally delaying it right now. But what hurts the book the most is probably that it's characters appear in other books often, and the delays make the title feel like yesterday's news. I mean, is there any Beast fan more excited about what will happen to Hank in Astonishing (probably nothing) than with the role he's playing on Endangered Species? Or a Cyke fan who cares more about the last issues than with the fact he will be the major character on the next crossover?

Nope. But then I don't like Whedon's Beast all that much. He's written way too much like Giles, just there to fill in the info and make the witty comments. He's been pushed to the background, and other than his parts in the first storyline and playing "Lab Monkey" like usual, he's been pretty much a minor character otherwise. I was hoping that Unstoppable would change that. But so far, it's the Piotr and Kitty show.

So, allow me to share a story with those of you who do not frequent LWW and haven't seen it yet:
So, earlier today I was asked to drive to town and grab some cigarettes for Mom. "No problem, I'll finish reading my comics a little later." Get dressed (I was wearing lounge pants, which are essentially like pajama bottoms) and head downstairs. Put on my shoes and tie them, and I'm talking to Mom and my brother for a minute before I go. I feel a pretty large rock in the front of my left shoe by my toe, so I tip the shoe back to see if it'll roll under my foot and out. No such luck. So, I take the shoe off and tip it back to get it out. No such luck. Stubborn rock must be jammed into the insole or something, right? So, I look in the shoe down toward the toe and there is a gorram, fucking BAT IN MY SHOE!!! THERE WAS A BAT...IN MY SHOE...WITH MY FOOT!!!!
You wouldn't believe how calmly I dealt with it, but once it was done...let's just say it took me a few minutes to relax.
Epilogue: The shoe was taken outside and thrown down to force the bat out (shaking wasn't working). Subsequently the bat was sprayed with Raid Hornet Killer, a rake was used to get it to an open area of grass, and a shovel was used to smash it to death.

I have no problem with bats, they eat bugs, which is helpful. But they don't belong in the house. So when they're found in the house, they are destroyed. Once, years ago, my Dad found one and just let it go outside, and we all watched as it flew right up into a hole where the roof meets the siding and back into the house. Since then, we've been zero tolerance.

So, events = bad storylines? And we're not talking about Lobdell or Milligan writing. Carey is a fantastic writer and many fans feel that he writers both characters better than Whedon (including me).
Who care about one creative team telling their story than them interweaving the stories and ramifications of 10 books.
If their story is delayed all time and is less interesting than other stories that are being told with the same characters, it will hard to make people care.

My favorite lab monkey role was in Warsong, where he was given the task of making something to deal with Phoenix, since he had so much experience failing to do so before.

So, events = bad storylines?
Not always, I'm not gonna make generalizations. But House of M, Decimation, Civil War? All big thumbs down from me.
I hated the 90's style of storytelling; jumping from one crossover event to the next. And I hate it now.
And we're not talking about Lobdell or Milligan writing. Carey is a fantastic writer and many fans feel that he writers both characters better than Whedon (including me).
Whoa now, lets not lump Lobdell in with Milligan. Milligan is at least as good as Mike Carey. Skreemer, Shade the Changing Man, X-Statix, Skin, Enigma, The Human Target. He has a very solid resume which many people seem to forget since he wrote 20 bad issues of X-Men. Mike Carey has written some solid issues of X-Men but he's by no means the second coming. I think X-Men under Carey has been mediocre, a step up in quality from Milligan's run, but mediocre nonetheless.
As for writing character's better than Whedon, its a matter of opinion. I don't see a huge difference, but then I don't get hung up on writer's getting characters perfectly. I think Whedon is exhibitting a far better grasp on storytelling than Carey or any of the other x-writers at the moment. That's the bottomline with me.

Did anyone watch the Bee's Entertianment awards show tonight? It was AMAZING!!!! It had Ms. Patti, and Ms. Ross, and Chaka, and Stevie and Beyonce, and like, everybody you could think of! Plus, Mo'Nique(she is my girl! and role model if I were a thick black woman) she came out doing a dance to Beyonce's Deja Vu with like a dozen other thick black girls, and I was LOLing the whole time!
I didn't watch the whole thing, but I did see the mini Destiny's Child reunion! I just love 90's R&B girl groups.
But who was that fourth girl on the split screen at the end? They retcon in a fourth member or something or was that one of the originals?

I want to be the guy that everybody wants
I want to be on TV shows
And wear designer clothes
I want a girlfriend who does not drink beer
I want to drive a fast car
And sleep with certain movie stars
I want to sing the songs that all those little people want to hear
I just want to be a rock star
I want to be like all those people up in first class
I just want to be a rock star
I want to tell the little people they can kiss my ass
I just want to be a rock star
I just want to get laid
I just want to be a rock star
A different girl for every day
That's why I want to be a rock star
Be like all those guys on the MTV
I just want to be a rock star
I want to make those girls on The Real World fantasize about me
I just want to be a rock star
I want to be the king
I want to be on top

Everybody everywhere wants to be famous
And everybody everywhere wishes they could tell
Everybody everywhere to go to hell

It maybe enough to make read, but not to keep my interest. Byrne's Hidden Years wasn't very good, First Class is great. Not because i think comics are too dark or something, but because it's plain fun, the kind of you have when watching Ferris Bueller' Day Off or Back From the Future: it's not the deepest work of art of all times, but it's light, very entertaining and yeah, the nostalgia (because i watched those movies like, 93542 times when i was a kid) helps.

I just looked it up. Apparently the US is in this tournament, but we're not in South America. How do you explain that one!
The same way that FIFA explains how the US can get into every world cup when they're not good enough. It's fixed for marketing purposes.
Kissball style rant over.
I want a free roaming GTA style X-Men game.
Have you tried Crackdown? I hear that's like GTA with superpowers? Every X-men game I've played bar Legends II has been shite though
John Cassaday's art isn't good enough to be causing such delays on AXM. I lost interest in that title a year ago. Which is sad because it would be so good if it wasn't delayed so severely. Next issue is scheduled for August 15. I don't understand why.
I blame Whedon actually. I get the impression (completely unsubstantiated) that Cassaday is an artist who requires strong prompts from his writers. Compare his work on Planetary for example, whihc whilst it is admittedly more 'epic' in scope is also written by a master of the comic craft who knows how to direct an artist. I'm not sure Whedon's that good in comics form - yet!
I shot a squirrel yesterday.
But did you shoot the deputy?
So yeah, if you want to create an X-Men #200 discussion thread, do so after midnight Eastern, and WHEN YOU HAVE ACTUALLY READ IT.

Oi there fuckos and cuntoxes.
How goes it?
This was fucking hilarious. Except the bat-death. That sucked.

World War Hulk #1 spoilers:
Blackbolt went down a little too easily for me to be convinced.
My current theory is that off panel Blackbolt(or rather one of his people) actually sat down and talked to Hulk and given The Inhumans current attitude towards the U.S. I'm thinking The Inhumans have joined forces with the Warbound.
The body Hulk showed on the holographic device was just a fake.

X-Factor
New Excalibur - not X-title
Cable and Deadpool not X-title
Wolverine - still exists?
Wolverine Origins - still exists?
Exiles - not X-title
X-Men: First Class - I am pretending this only comes out in trades
So 12 ongoings. Plus 1 mini series at the moment:
World War Hulk: X-Men
And 2 mini series on the way:
X-Men: Empereor Vulcan
Angel
And 2 pseudo-X-Men titles:
New Warriors
Omega Flight
so really it's just the 5 titles.

Your friend got busted on that Dateline show?Indeed. I saw him on yahoo messenger like, 3 or 4 months ago and tried to talk to him, but all he would say is it was him and he had to go. So I have no clue whatever came of that.
And your other friend slashed someone's neck?Yup.
Those two situations are incredibly fucked up.Word.
I mean, how do you get so wrong that you end up cutting someone's throat open? Well, here's what happened;
he lived with his brother at the time (who is a complete fucking loser and waste of space mind you) and they were drinking at their mom's house. Over the course of the evening the got to talking about how much money his brother owed him and being the worthless fuck his brother is, he starts lying about how much money he owes him. Shane (my friend), is like "fuck it, I'm leaving", so he goes home and chills for awhile. One of the neighbors comes by and they decide to take a walk to get some reefer to chill him out. Well, as they're walkin down the street these two big mother fuckers come rollin up on Shane, one comes straight at him and the other starts circling behind him. Shane's 5'-8" and about 160 lbs. mind you, these two guys both weighed about 300 lbs., one was about 6'-2" and the other about 6'-0". Shane knew he was about to get fuckin rolled, so he reached in his pocket where he had a disposable box cutter from work, whipped out, chopped the dudes neck and ran.
The blade only cut the fat on the guys neck, only made it through about a quarter of an inch of the 2 inches of fat on the guys chin. So really, it was just the fact that he was drunk and put in a situation where he was gonna get stomped, so he panicked and the fight/flight response kicked in.
Several months back the dude he cut got run up into jail on seven different counts including assulting an officer, drug possession, destroying police property and domestic violence. So as you can tell, the guy did have some maliscious intentions.

1) Ever been beaten up? Almost in Middle School, but a friend of mine stepped in and kicked the other guy's butt before he could do much to me. :o And that's the one fight I've ever been in.
2) Favorite Salad? I like making my own at a huge salad bar in a restaurant. I pile on the unhealthy stuff like cheese and bacon bits.
3) Most messed up thing you've seen (ala Tin Man nekkid) Gawersh, I haven't seen anything too messed up (either that or I've blocked it from memory). I guess seeing a dog get flattened by a truck was fairly disturbing.
4) Wanna help me start a Vincente needs a solo book campaign? For you, Jed, I'm in!
5) Favorite Fast Food place? Quiznos.
6) Favorite Ice Cream flavor? Rocky Road.
7) Last thing you bought? Lunch yesterday.
8) What did you eat for Breakfast? No breakfast for me. I never feel like eating until I've been up for a couple hours.
9) Paris Hilton or Ann Coulter? For what?!?!? Neither...
10) Warren Ellis or Warren Worthington III? BOTH!!! :)

1) Ever been beaten up?
No, but I've been threatened because of my faggish nature.
2) Favorite Salad?
Tossed:p Actually, Pasta is my favorite.
3) Most messed up thing you've seen (ala Tin Man nekkid)
Well, the most emotionally messed up thing for me to see was when I was growing up, my dad used to be an abusive alcoholic, and on my 8th birthday, my brother and sister and I were woken up to see my dad choking my mom with the phone cord, and I remember beating on my dad's back saying 'no daddy, no. Not on my birthday.'
4) Wanna help me start a Vincente needs a solo book campaign?
Sure, as soon as you stop hating on Angel:evilangry
5) Favorite Fast Food place?
Taco Bell.
6) Favorite Ice Cream flavor?
Vanilla bean.
7) Last thing you bought?
These really cute old school Puma's. I love them. God, I have a shoe fetish!
8) What did you eat for Breakfast?
I usually only eat once a day, so, nothing so far.
9) Paris Hilton or Ann Coulter?
Ann Coulter. Paris should be erased from the face of the Earth.
10) Warren Ellis or Warren Worthington III?
Warren Worthington the Third all the way baby!!!!

Well it's a good thing you don't understand the difference between "were" and "where", cause I'm now standing in a different location than I was a moment ago.

I think she's a cutie, I'd support her by fucking the ever-living-shit out of her before each of her shows to loosen her up... both literally and figuratively. :D
