Are you sure? They sometimes double as horny invisible persons. I saw it on Supernatural so it must be true.
As long as it doesn't come to me and tells me it's pregnant than I'm fine with it now. I got over my horny invisible people-phobia when I was quite young.
Clows are scary, Andres. I'm already regretting googling their pictures.
Really?
I like clowns, I used to love going to the circus to see the clowns. What's scary about them?

Nah, they're crap. For one, they don't really work, as the last chapter is meant to be a sort of sum-up of what the surviving characters do with the rest of their lives, which the so-called 'hackers' never even mention.

I went and had me a Spider-Man3/Fantastic Four 2 double feature.
I can't decide which one was worse:
Spider-Man 3
- Bad movie made from cobbled together stories and a mostly original plot.
- Has an atrocious goth Peter Parker dance number that nearly made me leave the theatre.
-On the plus side, there were some good thematic idea in there, they just lose focus. The film did a lot of good things poorly, and a lot of bad things well.
- Completely horrid compared to the original 2.
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer
- Bad movie made from a Top 5 Marvel story.
- Has an atrocious sequence in which Dr. Doom rides the Silver Surfer's board that nearly made me leave the theatre.
- On the plus side, the film makes no qualms about what it is; a fun movie for kids.
- Pretty much the same quality as the original.

I mean, I know how the story's gonna unfold, so I figure the only surprises I'm gonna get is how stuff looks. I've long wanted to start a thread somewhere about the phenomenon of fans wanting their characters to be #1 at all times. Like, if I'm the FF writer, and I even thought, for a moment, of creating a villain who was smarter than Reed (not comparable like Doom, but outright much smarter), I would be torn a new one and the character would be hated before he ever hit the page.
But meanwhile, all I am is a writer wanting to explore what Reed would do in a situation where he's not the smartest guy in the room anymore. My intentions could be completely artistic, and I'm gonna end up being labeled trying to shove my character down people's throats.
And then I think of how long it'd take to type and I never do it.

CRISIS AVERTED!
This girl I'm dating said she was late and thought she was pregnant..so I just took her to the gynecologist to make sure before we make any decisions...and YAY! not pregnant!

Don't know. Sometimes I think I should be more serious about stuff and less silly. Though I love the silliness!
Ah, silliness is great, I'd figure that too much seriousness in one's life could drive a person insane. Unless of course you consider silliness as a byproduct of going insane. Or at least, temporarily insane. And now I'm being silly. :p
You get more rights then us citizens. Least you'll get financial aid. But please, don't get me started on that shitty, shitty fucking immigration bill they are trying to pass. The amount of loop holes in it would make for a good rollercoster at Six Flags.
I love Six Flags! The one over here in CA is great, (Magic Mountain) but I heard that they might shut it down and build housing developments in its place. That'd be such a waste. =(
Dude, fuck that noise. Being serious gives me indigestion. My mom's been like "when are you going to grow up and start taking things seriously," since I was like fifteen, and I'm all "when being boring, lame, and getting stress-induced ulcers appeals to me, yo." My outlook on life rocks, and it works for me, so I have no desire to change it. You rock too, thus a serious Hi-Fi does not compute. It'd be like.....Sage-ifying you. Resist assimilation yo!
From my dad it's always, "Why are you acting like a 5-year-old-kid?" Pssh, I act like a 10-year-old kid, at the very least! But other times, yea, I think they could be right. Slacking off and goofing around tends to get me nowhere. :o But conformity is a no-no, I don't mind people telling me what to do, as long as they're not trying to tell me who to be. And stuff... Okay, don't know why I wrote that but it sounds good, doesn't it?
I know! I'll be serious ONLY when talking about comics!
But I heart Tessie-Jo!
Guh, please don't, there are a lot of people who take the comics way too seriously. They're supposed to be entertaining, and seeing people being all serious about them sorta takes the fun out of it. It's like, if you don't enjoy it and it doesn't make you happy, then why are you doing it?
And about Tessie-Jo, bakla needs to come over to the X-board proper more, but I think he's kinda wary of some of the posters here. Can't blame him, not everyone's a little ray of sunshine like me! Or at least, I try to be, the word I often get back though is, "annoying." =(

I liked it, it was very moving. I know nothing much happened in terms of action; but in an issue like this, you realize that behind all the super powers, heroic acts, and fighting the good fight, they're people too. Seeing their hopes, their fears, it just makes 'em seem more relatable, ya know? I mean, who doesn't fear death on occasion? It kinda puts things in perspective.

Well, it was an issue of standing around and talking. People expect explosions, fighting, and action in X-Men comics, and aside from the opening spread, there weren't any in here. So I can understand why people would think that it was boring. Also, there's a risk in writing an issue like this, since something intended to sound emotional could come off as sounding sappy to some people.
The response has been mostly positive though, at least from what I've seen so far. :D

Well, I've been excited 'bout the title X-Men since Carey came on, and he hasn't disappointed me yet, either that or I'm just very easy to please. :p This one I've been getting regularly since his run started.
However, I do plan on getting all 4 X-titles for "Endangered Species" and "Messiah CompleX", and I've never done that before. I picked them up at the start of the current arcs, and New X-Men has been a lot of fun to read too. Skottie Young's art is awesome. X-Factor also has a lot of great moments in it too. :D
I usually don't buy comics; just sit and read them at my LCS. I know it's kinda bad, but I don't like spending money, I figure it'd be a bit pointless if I bought something, read it once, then never read it again.
And also, If I bought all the stuff I read, I'd be spending about $100-$150 a month... :o
As for WWH; I'll read it, but the only thing I'll buy is the WWH:X-Men mini. It's a shame that the Adjectiveless X-Men team couldn't be in it though, but at least they were cut for the sake of continuity. It would be a bit overkill to fight the Hulk after barely surviving the Marauders.
And with that said, I better go to bed, it's 3 in the morning now!

To make it clear us straight folks are the out numbered ones right?
That makes the "Then we'll fight in the shade"-line so much scarier.
Well apparently, they don't work all the time. DID NOT KNOW.
For realz, they leave that part out when you're putting the condom on the banana in sex ed.
PLUS, apparently girls can only get pregnant four days out of the month anyways, so that 90% condom effectiveness is only even true if you're just having sex four days out of the month, which, HELLO, umm, not. So if you're having sex with girls, like, half the month, that 90% effectiveness goes down to like 20%.
ADVERTISING OMMISSION LIKE WHOA!
You didn't get that in sex ed.? We repeatedly had all about "Condoms are not 100% fool-proof, so if you want to be safe use pill+condom and even then you run a risk."
What if it was plotted by Lucy Pinder's left boob and scripted by the right?
Unless there are pictures with the credits that really wouldn't matter now, would it.
The (main) problem with the Shadow King is that everything and everyone in the world have to be connected to him. If Claremont stayed on the books after 1991 and got what he wanted, Hellfire Club would be revealed to be evil because of the Shadow King. Days of Future Past would have happened because of mutants being more hated due to the Shadow King. That guy that led the Reavers was mind-controlled by the Shadow King, and that's why they were evil, etc. And after he came back Shadow King was doing everything again. You can bet is only a matter of time before he shows up in Exiles. Why can't people due bad things on their own free will, not because some centuries old telepath that feeds on evil or something told them so?
Luckily there is a solution for the Shadow King:

Hulk - reasonble, especially the Herc-Angel banter
Iron Man - Gage did a really good job, clearly understands Tone nearly as well as the Knauf's and Duggan was great in it.
Cap America - okay but not great IMO
was less enamoured with HfH, Ghost Rider (just bought them for the tie-in's and probably shouldn't have bothered)
but I got the Planet Hulk HC too. Fucking immense. Really feels like a Hollywood blockbuster when read over 12 issues. It includes Amadeus frikking Cho right at the end. I really wanna see him get smashed I've decisde

I didn't know that Whedon did the screen play for Toy Story. . .
Well he was one of like 6 writers, but yeah. Got an Oscar nomination for it.
He also wrote the screenplays for Titan AE and Alien Ressurection (which he disowns - IIRC he claims the studio interfered tremendously). He also did an uncredited rewrite on Speed and apparently most of the dialogue is his. He did rewrites on a couple other movies but I believe whatever he wrote that stuck is minimal (Tiwster, X-Men, and Waterworld).

06-22-2007, 11:52 AM
Did Whedon ever explain exactly WHAT Storm's line to Toad in the first X-Men movie was supposed to mean? I mean...it seemed like there had to be something behind the line. It was lame regardless...but ergh...he had to have had a reason to write that line. ...right?
Ryan K
06-22-2007, 11:56 AM
According to Wikipedia:
Joss Whedon wrote a draft, and only two parts of his draft made it into the final film. The first is Wolverine proving to Cyclops he is not Mystique by insulting him; the other is Storm's taunt to Toad before she electrocutes him. Whedon was disappointed with Halle Berry's over-dramatic delivery of the latter line, which he imagined as an offhand, casual comment.

X-Men: ES - great issue. Love Eaton's art. Cyclops/Wolverine convo was great.
Captain America - great as always
Amazing Spider-Man: great
Fallen Son: Spider-Man - not bad

I have no clue who Pacman Jones is, but my first instinct is "Is this a drug-related crime?"
He's a football player who just turned himself in for an incident in February involving a shooting at a strip club. Charges were just filed.
The bigger story is that a week before these charges were filed he was involved in another shooting . . . at another strip club . . . and is being sought for questioning.
The man loves shootings at strip clubs. Is that a crime?

Not writing wise, he's only known for creating something. I'm yet to read/see something that he wrote on his own that is credible.

I never watched Buffy because...from previews it seemed like a show I would hate, and I wouldn't know anything he's written for movies besides the infamous Storm line--BUT from his AX work alone I know the guy can write. Doesn't matter to me whether he "created" the characters/concepts or if he's just working to "contribute/continue" the work.

I agree, I wasn't blown away by the Galactus effect or completely pissed that he wasn't in there, but I wish they would have shown him for a minute. Like, SS gets into the heart of the cloud, comes face to face with big G, exchanges some dialogue about how he's Norrin Rad and he's not gonna be his bitch no moe', then nukes him.

Surveys show that green-filtered light isn't nearly as flattering, ergo blue skies make everything prettier, there must be a correlation. Yeah, you're terribly misinformed.
He didn't create Buffy and leave or something. He wrote more episodes of Angel/Firefly/Buffy than any other writer and he wrote arcs for each season detailing where the stories would go. Most of the other staff writers often say that Whedon often rewrote dialogue in their own scripts. He wrote Serenity.
He has an Emmy nomination for writing as well as an Oscar nomination and an Eisner award.
He has a very credible writing resume whether you like the work or not.

Yeah, why? Marvel should take the hint and just have a book with her, Psylocke, Sue Richards, Black Widow and Storm not wearing anything written by Claremont. I would even accept Jean returning only to appear on this book :D
Surveys show that green-filtered light isn't nearly as flattering, ergo blue skies make everything prettier, there must be a correlation.
Why not make skies purple or red then? That would be better for everyone.

Customer: Excuse me sir, do your audio books ever go on sale?
Ryan: Not really. The only audio books that ever go on sale are the new releases which are sometimes 20% off.
Customer: But not the other audio books?
Ryan: No.
Customer: So not Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover?
Ryan: Again . . . no.
At this point the customer slumped away.
Then it occured to me. If you can't manage up the four extra dollars it would cost you if the audio book weren't on sale, than I don't really think you're gonna get the most out of a book called Total Money Makeover. Not to mention you can't even seem to rouse up the energy to actually read the book but would rather listen to it.
