View Full Version : How much do average writers and artists make at Marvel and DC?

I have yet to find an answer to this. Almost like it's some kind of state secret. I have seen referneces to under 25 grand a year, but how the hell can anyone live on that unless they live in Kentucky or North Carolina? Seriously. I am in NC right now so I know what it takes to live here. :)
I'm not talking about Frank Miller money or Garth Ennis money. The average guys. The guys who's names we don't really know (yet).

Depending on the name and the project, anywhere between $100 and $200 per page, give or take.
Don't expect to write for them anytime soon.
No wonder guys try to write 5 or 6 books a month.

If DC & Marvel (and Image & Dark Horse) are the bigger companies, would you not expect the smaller companies to pay less?

What about exclusive contracts? I doubt Bendis or Johns are just getting two hundred bucks a page per comic when they're... I guess "golden children" for either company.
