When I was much younger, probably around 1976 or so, I remember reading this comic that I'd like to try to find again. It was some type of short science fiction story comic and two of the stories in it were:

One was about a crashed fighter plane where the pilot got trapped in the cockpit over an ant hill. While he was trapped, his food tank (which was some type of liquid brain food) spilled into the ant hill. Over the course of a few days, he watched the ants live off his food and get progressively smarter. They eventually designed weapons and fought each other until they set off their own nuke.

The other story was about some rich, terminally ill man who decided to cryogenically suspend himself until a cure was found. He was eventually revived from the cryo state and cured. However, when he woke up, he realized his arms and legs had been harvested to give to soldiers in some war.

Does anyone know the name/issue of this comic???

Thanks!

Both of those stories sound cool, but I can't place them.

I can't think of any regularly published SF comics from 1976. An occasional issue of House of Mystery or Secrets would be devoted to a SF theme.

The stories sound more like a Warren magazine. Are you sure it was a regular size color comic? Or was it a larger black and white magazine?

I found this short run of Mystery In Space but it is from 1980.

It could have been one of those Marvel sci-fi reprints (Where Beasties Reside, etc.). They went at least through 1974-75, if not 1976.

Was Warren publishing 1984 back then? Those sound like stories that could've appeared there.

I summon the wild-ass guess!

I agree that the stories sound like they could be from a Warren mag, but I don't remember those ones myself.

The only other possible title that comes to mind is Weird War Tales, but I've only ever owned a handful of those.

Weird War Tales just might be correct. It was definitely a color book, and I think it was a regular comic form factor. I'll see if I can trace it under WWT - thanks for the help!
