Average review: 4/5.
The lowest review score (3/5) was because the reviewer didn't care for the art and thought the Black Bolt fight was too short.
Another reviewer describes this story as "villain vs. villain."
I'm curious as to Dr. Strange's appearance in the first issue as well as The Sentry's. While it seems obvious that Pak is saving them for later, I wonder how he chooses to hold them off in the story.
And no Bruce Banner appearance. So much for my theory that the first issue would end with the revelation that Bruce Banner was supporting The Hulk.

I'm very hesitant to let reviews sway my opinion on anything, as 99% of the time I don't agree with them. Athough I did like the few new tidbits we got about the story...this keeps up, we won't even need to buy the issue.

Ah great stuff.Really anticipating this!
Although McLean is always funny in how sheerly he detests Iron Man. I suspect if Iron Man were to do the laundy McLean would rant about how contemptible he was as he did it. I mean the idea of calling Iron Man evil because he employed actual fighters against the Hulk BEFORE Hulk could destroy New York is just silly. Especially when he doesn't even MENTION the threats Hulk makes in the issue. And what he says about the Sentry is just ridiculous.
Like the idea of "Villains vs villains".
Cool that Tony is throwing out more pardons. Geez, guy really doesn't want ANY heroes in jail, does he?

If I'm going to pay 4 dollars for a comic, I intend to get 4 dollars worth of enjoyment out of reading it.

Nah, it's all part of the "Masta' Plan". Now he's got all the anti-reggers right where he wants 'em - out in the open, surrounded by Shield agents and the rest of the Mighty Avengers and nary a civilian to get in the way. :evilsmile
"There will be no escape for you this time, young Skyw- err... Spiderman!"

Think you could lend us some of that willpower? :p

I still don't get some of the knocks on the art. It looks great for the most part given the previews. And at least we'll know the issues will be on-time this go-around :p

I admit when I first heard that Jr was on the art chores I inwardly cringed. He's always been the guy who was great on DD and Spidey, but his run on the Hulk left me cold. But now that a bunch of the preview pages are out for it, I have to say I was... pleasantly surprised. I even take back some of the knocks I gave it early on as it's definitely brought me around to the point where I'm really looking forward to it. :)

I think my favorite of the lot so far would have to be:

Hulk looks so pissed and Iron Man looks so resolved, it's a great moment.

Yeah, that is definitely one the best preview pages out. Another one of my favorites is this one:

I particularly like the coloring and the lighting when IM touches down, it really has that "street scene at night" feel to it.

A fairly lengthy review which is given a rating of "Must Read". Not too spoilery, but do expect some of course. You can find it here: http://comics.ign.com/articles/795/795854p1.html
Again, it looks like a great start to the event - just one more day! :)

4 stars? Excellent.
Hmm, it seems consistent between this and the Sunday Slugfest reviews that there is no heavy Hulk bias (indeed this reviewer was clearly converted to the Illuminati's side partway through) which is more than I dared hope. Consider the anticipation level raised another notch!

Actually, the reviewer stated he wasn't very big on Hulk. He said he was more interested in seeing THEM (the Illuminati) than him (the Hulk). He also said the issue did nothing to change his mind from that viewpoint.

The reviewer also said he felt the Hulk wasn't handled brilliantly and that he had forgotten Iron Man was a hero until this issue showed him why again.

Right, but when you go into this with the attitude that "He (Hulk) would merely be another threat to humanity that they (The Illuminati) had to stop."
So I don't think he went into this Pro-Hulk. ;)

Fine but I don't think he goes into it pro-Tony ;)

Thanks for the linky MR, I don't think I would have found that one. And yeah, I expect everyone here must know BBs fate by now.

Merged these thread together since they're all talking about pretty much the same thing.
No real reason for multiple review threads.

CBR's official review of WWH #1: Recommended. (as if we expected anything less.)
http://goodcomics.comicbookresources.com/2007/06/12/world-war-hulk-1-review/
Awhile back, when he was drawing The Incredible Hulk during Paul Jenkins’ run, Romita did an “all-fight” issue between the Hulk and the Abomination. That issue was tremendous, and Romita lives up to that issue with his Iron Man/Hulk battle here.
All of this leading to a dramatic cliffhanger that works as a nice lead-up to the rest of this crossover.
Good first issue.
Recommended.Okay, usually I don't hit the CBS till Saturday, but I may have to make an exception this week.

We have a thread for reviews!
Ah well anyway, it seems to be something in common that both sides mare portrayed equally. Better than I thought Pak could give us- I'm NOT complaining!
