The New Warriors cause an explosion that kills people. This causes talk to be of registration for peoples protection. A bunch of heroes don't want to register. A bunch think you should. A law is passed amking registration manditory. Those that don't become outlaws. Black Goliath dies. There's a clone of Thor. Spidey unmasks supporting registration. There's a lot of fighting. Spidey has a change of heart and joins the unregistered side. Some heroes are put in prison. Cap and the unregistered outlaws break them out. Cap eventually sees that he's going against what the American people want as they want heroes registered. Cap surrenders. His unregistered heroes scatter. The end.

Cap gets written out of the Marvel Universe.

The End

Oh yeah. Everyone is registered.

(Where is StoneGold when you need him).

(Where is StoneGold when you need him).Off somewhere selling poison milk to school children and kicking around small chihuahua puppies?

As far as Civil War, Shadow more or less summed it up, but I'll do it again in very broad terms:

-Registration is passed. Some are for it, some against it. Spidey starts out for it.

-Spidey unmasks

-Caps "Underground Avengers" (anti-reg heroes) respond to a fake industrial fire, which turns out to be a trap set by Stark and Pro-reg forces. Fighting ensues. Iron man beats Cap to a pulp. Goliath dies. No ones in the mood to fight anymore. Everyone goes home.

-Spidey switches sides after seeing the Negative Zone prison. Stark sends the Thunderbolts after him. They mess him up bad. Punisher saves him.

-Punisher joins Caps Avengers. Steals negative zone prison codes and such from the Baxter Building. The FF are at odds. Sue and Johnny leave Reed, join Caps Avengers.

-Some villains try to join Caps team. Punisher kills 'em. Cap beats the holy hell out of Punisher. Kicks him out.

-Stark and the Gov't are making new heroes. Hulkling knocks out Pym and takes his place. Infiltrates pro-Reg side.

-Cap and his team go to save all the heroes in the Negative Zone prison. Stark is waiting in ambush. Hulkling reveals himself. Also reveals he set all the prisoners loose. Stark defecates himself.

-Caps team and Starks team fight. Starks side is winning. They try to lock the heroes in the prison. Cloak teleports everyone out...to New York City. More fighting. Namor shows up, joins Caps side.

-Caps side is winning. Vision disrupts Iron Mans armor. Cap beats him like a red-headed stepchild. New York paramedics and cops take Cap down before killing blow. Cap cries, then surrenders.

The End

If I missed anything crucial, anyone feel free to edit it in. And yes, when you sum it up like this, the ending seems even worse.

I think they were called Secret Avengers.

Oh, and instead of "Goliath dies. No ones in the mood to fight anymore. Everyone goes home."
Change that to. Clone/Cyborg of Thor shows up, kills Goliath, turned on the rest, they wet their pants and run (aided by Sue Storm - which leads to the breakup of the FF)

The Good: The one shots - Winter Kills, War Crimes, Casualties of War

The Bad: Civil War: X-Men, anything written by JMS, Choosing Sides

The Ugly: Civil War: The Return (may actually be a contender for worst comic ever)

pax.

The Ugly: Civil War: The Return (may actually be a contender for worst comic ever)I'd have to agree, as this story was pretty much pointless.

They reintroduce Captain Marvel.....to not use him in anything since.

Marvel- Capitalizing on residual Civil War sales much?

(Where is StoneGold when you need him).

To poorly paraphrase Shaft, "Getting laid, where the hell are you going?"

Really it's too get laid, and the whole line only kind of fits, but it's what stuck in my head, and when was the last time you guys saw Shaft, anyways? I probably could have gotten away with it if I hadn't mentioned it.

But seriously, I can't argue with anything anyone has said so far. Although if you want the short, short version, it's this: You can't fight City Hall. But if you do, use legal methods; don't try smacking it in the face with a shield.

this actually made me pick up wolverine, as it felt like the only good ol' fasioned type of comic out there at the time. wolverine actually hunted down they guy responsible for the murders, who for sum reason everyone else forgot about!

but then civil war ended, and wolverine showed some promise, but then started having a 4 issue fight with sabre tooth and some boring flashbacks to a caveman wolverine and sabretooth fighting through the ages, and then i dropped wolverine again from my pull list (or i will when this arc finishes, i jus cant leave mid story, no matter how bad) but anyway, i've strayed from the point, which was..... i dunno

oh yeah, imo wolverine was the only decent civil war title

I only started pulling Wolverine after this, so what did happen to nitro?

I don't think I've seen anyone sum it up better than Chris Sims. Civil War in 30 seconds (http://the-isb.blogspot.com/2007/02/civil-war-in-30-seconds.html)

basically nitro got handed over(by wolverine) to the atlantians, because nitro had killed namor's cousin (or something)
so nitro was spending his time being tortured in one of there dungeons

thats the most basic summary. but wolvie was my fave civil war title. but ive lost intrest in him fast due to the current story arc

Some kids get killed in a battle.

Filler filler filler

Heroes and villians must register and they all split up as for or against

filler filler filler

Spidey unmasks

filler filler filler filler filler filler filler filler filler filler filler filler filler filler filler filler five issues of filler filler filler filler filler filler filler filler filler filler filler filler

Cap who was an anti registration person surrenders. The end. Rivals House of M for filler fluff in the middle and redifines anti climax. Great concept though and still has the potential for great future ramifications.
